Tom Cruise...what comes next?

Anyway, regardless of if the media wants you to think its a bomb or if it did good overseas, many Hollywood insiders are now looking at Tom Cruise with caution...his career has been hurt by MI:3, the damage is done. So what comes next for Cruise?
I highly doubt his career has been hurt by a movie that opened a week ago.

His reputation is hurt by his actions which started before WOTW was even released and continues to this day. MI3 hasn't done anything to affect that reputation positively or negatively, IMO. It may be more evidence he's not a mega box office draw. But then he's had minor hits even when he had a good reputation.

Genius.

I sense a bit of fear around here.

As was said, in the UK the movie is doing fine and 95% of reviews love it.

Sorry haters .... true.

More like 71% of reviews, but whatever.

It's great that the UK likes the movie and everything, but this movie is not cheap.

Cruise is probably getting a nice percentage of the profits too.

wow I never would have thought Matt could make a stupid thread.

mi3 a bomb? please.

Tom Cruise's reputation has been in a downward spiral ever since he switched agents. His old agent rightly advised him to be very quite about scientology and his beliefs about psychiatry and medicine, and to keep his private life as private as possible. But his new agent is a fellow scientologist, and encourages him to be as open as he wants. And that was about when Tom Cruise seemingly turned into a jack@$$ overnight.

Well, the majority disagree with you about Titanic. Most think it's a quality movie, which means it's just not your TYPE of movie. Same with Garfield. There is a world OUTSIDE of your opinion.

Perhaps at the time, these days I hear far more Titanic bashing than praising.

It would have been better if the Titanic had beat jesus up for three hours instead of sinking

I wasn't bashing it, I haven't even seen it, I was merely making an observation about the popularity of the film(not the quality of it).

Though I'm sure logic isn't required for your pointless asinine, offbase sarcasm aimed at a member rather than a topic.

I was serious. What, do you not like it when people beat up jesus? I didn't mean to offend

Yes, there has been a noticeable public grumbling against Cruise, but again, that comes from the media throwing all his dubious behaviour in our faces and calling it news.

The media wants you to hate Tom Cruise, just like they wanted you to hate Michael Jackson, and again, most people are taking the bait.

I don't need any media-machine to find Cruise's actions both funny and offensive; no one with functioning grey-matter does.

What next, that the couch-jumping stunt was a media ploy? Cruise has "bought" every bit of media vilification and general-public disgust he's got now. He has no one to blame but himself.

I also find it funny that you're saying Jackson is loathed not because he has prepubescent sleeping-habits, but because the media wants us to hate him. ROTFL!

Nobody drew bullseyes on the foreheads of Jackson and Cruise but themselves.

HEY!

Say what you want about Cruise, but don't insult my beloved Michael Jackson!

He's the King of Pop, and one of the flagship figures of the '80s!

That's gonna give me nightmares for a month.

Thanks bub :(

Tom Cruise is going to make a film called the Final Revolutionary which is based on his personal fight with Xenu, if you don't believe me... just wait 4 years to this day, i'm serious, 4 years to mid summer and this film is gonna hit the theaters... Cruise has been saving for this project for the past 6 years, he's getting the budget to around 175 million of his own bucks which is about a quarter of his entire earnings since Risky Business... it's gonna star him, it'll be written and produced by him and of course some editing/directorial powers... The Director In Name Only is going to be Roger Christian. I've never heard of the guy before but he's in contract to develop and eventually direct the project in late 2008.

Wouldn't say that the movie has bombed, 48 million is a nice chunk of money. If it does not make back it's budget or less then yes it would have fallen below expectations. I agree that Cruise's actions as of late have worked against the movie. He needs to get his act together.

How do you know about Cruise and Jackson's behaviour? Do you know them personally, or do you find out because the media decides it's news?

The media has always had a 'build 'em up, knock 'em down' approach to superstars, and currently Tom Cruise is number one target.
