Tom Hiddleston is Loki

Hiddleston completely knocked me out in this film. There's a scene between Loki and Odin after Thor's banishment, Hiddleston blew me away.

Best Marvel villain to date, not even slightly close.

You've got me pondering now. Hiddleston floored the audience, you couldn't hear a pin drop in his scenes. He's so good: it must be what it was like to watch McKellen or Jacobi in a theater in the 70s. Some of the X-Men and Spider-Man villains were almost as three-dimensional but Loki definitely floors them all. So much so I fear when we meet the fully twisted character of the comics he'll be less interesting.

It was really cool seeing him as a Jotun as well.

Thats great , I have read nothing about good things regarding his preformence . I knew when I first read an interview with tom hiddleston that he was going to nail it . I feel that though Thor may be the heart of the film , loki is the backbone that ties everything together due to his actions . I know I am going to feel sorry for him because he is in so much pain, and cant wait to see it for myself .

I know this is not directly related to this movie , I wanted to post this in case you havent been reading up on the avengers movie thread as of late . I been mostly focused on thor but here it is .. I wanted to make shure but its on marvel's website . As you know there has been some speculation if tom hiddleston will return in the avengers . Well according to marvel it has been confirmed that LOKI WILL RETURN . http://marvel.com/news/story/15733/marvels_the_avengers_begins_production

This is awesome ...

Yes it is

I was pissed when they said Loki wasn't going to be in the Avengers, but I'm super excited now that his return is confirmed :woot:.

WHY wouldn't he be? I mean even EMH had him in it.

I know, but that's what they said at Kapow.

I had the same experience. It was great how they edited it too. There were quite loud or even humorous moments surrounding Loki's scenes so when they came they were very powerful. Really gave the film a lot of heart, which is a strange thing to say about a villain.

glad to hear that hiddleston is coming across well, i cant wait to see him as loki.

Indeed, it made the film feel shorter because it felt like we were watching two separate films that came together at the end. It was very much about both of them (Wolverine, take note). Loki's dislike of his brother was quite justifiable too, and it was rather ironic that Thor's experiences had humbled him while in the end Loki had become an arrogant devil.

What about Laufey, was he as badass as any of you had hoped?

No worries there. Journey into Mystery (Loki's series) is a smash hit.

i'm watching this tomorrow night, but before that, could people who've seen the film, give me non spoilery details about hiddleston's LOKI? My friend who saw it said he was 3 dimensional, and symapthetic yet totally badass towards the end at the same time.

i'd love to hear more. :D Favorite.villain.

To be honest I could have watched the film if it was solely about loki. What hiddleston does with minimal screen time is brilliant. Really Really impressed.

Plus he actually looks like loki.

I thought he was was brilliant too - His voice, face, dialogue - all good.

Loki was, as said, brilliant - But I do think his acting (or the direction more likely) was a bit overdone in his fight scene with Thor.

i now know exactly what you're talking about. that scene gave me chills.
also, semi spoiler.

i LOVE the modern and green getup that loki had when he visited thor.

I too thought Hiddleston was awesome. He did a great job making Loki sympathetic. Loki and Magneto in the movies you almost feel sorry for.

I hated how short the final battle was. Liddleston was great as Loki though.

well it is thor vs loki, and loki isn't really a physical match for thor, so it should be short.
thor finally said enough and that was it. he really didn't use his power till he called down some lightning against the loki's

i am hoping to see more loki in the future, and seeing him interact or manipulate humans. i want to see his disgust for them.

the fight being short is what got me worried about this movie .. while some said it was good but short and others said that it was fine . and come to think of it . Its more of loki's final act and decent into the villian he becomes later on however I hope its still one badass fight.

Although there are people that say that thor is stronger and it should be shorter or more one sided on thor's part .. I really respect their opinion however just because loki is not phyiscally as strong dont mean he cant be a match for thor , he just has different strengths which are speed , agility and being much smarter and having the ability to think ten steps ahead and that to me is huge in a fight . not to mention having some badass magic and the abiliy to withstand alot of phyiscal damage .

on a personal note being involved in martial arts for five years , I now know never to count out the smaller person ,I have seen bigger stronger guys get owned in a fight by the much smaller but faster guy or girl :cwink: hehehe .its awesome !!
