Tom Hiddleston: Loki Redux - Part 1

I got to thinking of this while watching a Loki fanvid with scenes from Thor in it but hypothetically speaking if Heimdall had actually succeeded in decapitating Loki before getting frozen what would have happened?

Loki was actually decapitated in the comic books, but since he's such a powerful sorcerer, he didn't die. I'm guessing if Heimdall actually managed to decapitate Loki, he would have used magic to heal himself.

Wouldn't that be something to see in a movie. I'm sure the fangirls/boys would be flipping out seeing Loki lose his head. ;)

I think that would effectively up the rating of the movie to well over 18A hahaha. In the comics, Thor actually carried Loki's head around on his belt.

Oh, you can get away with decapitations in PG-13 movies as long as it's not gory. Think like Lord of the Rings which had Aragorn decapitating a few characters. I don't think that would happen to Loki seriously, but the thought of all the girls and boys freaking out would be quite funny.

Let's not forget that millions of little kids just watched Superman of all people snap a dude's neck and kill a guy.

RIGHT! I was thinking the same thing! And the sound effects made it particularly brutal.

I also thought it was a bit stupid that after throwing that guy through numerous buildings and what not, the thing that finally killed him was getting his neck broken. Does that mean that someone can kill Superman by breaking his neck? Seems like a cop out.

In the comics, Superman actually went through sort of a half identity crisis/half spiritual reawakening when he realized that he was mortal...

As much as I love Tom Hiddleston, I think it would be fun in ten years or so to have Kid Loki and the Young Avengers...that's such an awesome comic!

Also, Joss Whedon said once that he felt that Tom Hiddleston would win an Oscar by the time he's 40 and I agree with him...at the very least, he'll be nominated because he does balance out his Marvel roles with smaller stuff, even short films.

However, I feel his best role on screen was Hal in Henry IV, Henry the V, part 1 and Henry the V, part 2. He was amazing there.

I hope we're able to have even more of his range as Loki in Thor 2...I did notice that his delivery of the line, "When do we start?" was unlike any of Loki's dialogue before.

Probably because he was sitting in prison with nothing to do for months haha. "When do we start" really means "I'm bored as hell, let's kill someone."

Tom I think would agree with you based upon the acceptance speech he made after receiving an award for that very role.

Eh. Pretty sure you are referring to that Thor arc where thor goes beyond his father's trials with the Odinforce, then masters ruin magic. I think Thor took Loki's head off, Thor's sorcery and magic is what kept Loki alive, not Loki. At that point Thor was a far more powerful sorcerer with magic than Loki and even Odin at this point

Meh, agree to disagree. The point being decapitation wouldn't necessarily kill Loki (he had himself written out of the books of Hel at this point, I think), and he would have found another way to resurrect himself.

Loki has survived decapitation under his own power before, at least back to the Simonson run where he did it to mess with Balder's mind. I get the impression that its not a trivial effort for him, but its also not something overly extraordinary either.

I bet Loki would want to avoid getting his head separated from his body anyways because of how uncomfortable it must be to have to reconnect it with his neck.

Came across this brand new Loki video yesterday. The imagery on these things can get repetitious - there's only so much material to work with - but every once in a while you come across one that really stands out.

Wow, what a perfect song for Loki. The editing isn't bad either.

There. Fixed it for you.

I don't know if you can wholly include me as a total fangirl of Tom as my attentions have started wandering towards other guys, like Henry Cavill and Orlando Bloom...especially Orli when he reprises Legolas in the second part of The Hobbit. He was my first real fangirl type crush.
