First off, he's 5' 11". Right now, that's only one inch taller than 616 Peter.

Second, he's 18 years old. I know that everyone grows at a different pace, but it's highly unlikely that he's going to have 5 inch growth spurt at that age.

Asa himself said he was currently 6ft. And while he should've stopped growing, it's always possible he could grow further as there have been some teenagers who have done so.

and that's my biggest issue with Asa. he's really pushing the high end of the height range that I think is appropriate for the character. ESPECIALLY if they want to go for a younger, hs age Peter.

if they were going for older, college age Peter, and Asa was a few years older, I'd have less a problem.

but to start out with a young Peter in hs ( presumably a freshman or sophomore ) and already have him close to 6 ft?

that's just not right for the character in the period they want ( high school ).

Tom is too short, Asa's too tall. Asa has more experience, Tom looks better. Asa may not be able to bulk up, Tom is athletic, Asa may not be able to handle comedy, Tom's father is a comedian. Those are the things we've went over on these actors. So, based on all of that. Can we make a decision?

C thanks for info on asa film shoot. As he is state side. If that film is still going when civil war shoot be for spidey stuff. Maybe he could work both. But it is easier when there isn't any conflicts. But I hope we are done with the wait soon enough.

How is Holland too short? He's not any shorter than Maguire. Was he too short too?

I thought Maguire was just the right height.

I certainly bought him more as "Puny Parker" than Garfield in the role.

Peter Parker is 5'10 in the comics, that's the right height.

And Thor and Kingpin are much taller in the comics than in the MCU. Given that everyone is generally shorter than in the comics, a couple of inches shorter than 5'10" for Spider-Man won't harm him at all.

5'6" to 5'8" is a good range for young, hs age Peter Parker.

5'8" to 5'10" is a good range for older, college age Peter.

now, does that mean that 5'11" Asa wouldn't work?

no.

but if he's a strong 5'11" who's pushing 6'0", then that's bordering on too tall for the role, especially if they want a younger Peter in high school.

Spidey is one character who actually benefits from being smaller. It helps him be more lean and agile. Plus, it lends itself to his underdog status.

Isn't Kingpin/Thor like 6'9/6'7 in the comics? that's ridiculously tall. but yeah, Tom's height shouldn't be a factor (since he isn't short) when Marvel decide to cast him.

hey!! we had 6'3" Jackman play 5'3" Wolverine for over a decade. :o

I can't remember their exact heights, but it could be something tall like that. D'Onofrio is 6'4" which is pretty tall already. As good as Toby Leonard Moore is, I think they could've picked someone a little shorter so that Fisk would be the only one at that height, or they could've given him lifts to appear even taller.

Kingpin would certainly look more imposing next to Holland, height wise, than someone who is 6ft. Of course, anyone would look imposing next to Asa, build wise. But Flash Thompson would have to be about 6'4" as well if he's going to look taller than Peter if played by Asa.

Teen pete is 5'6 adult pete 5'10. Either tom or asa would be fine. And like others have said camera angles and other camera tricks can fudge heights taller or shorter if need be. Take for example tom cruise he is what like 5'3 but Yom cruise on film looks pretty tall even against tall woman.

Tom is 5'8, not 5'6.

I wasn't saying tom is 5'6 harry I was talking of comics heights of peter.

5'6, 5'8, 5 whatever....I don't think it matters all that much.

For me at long as they around around 5'8 or taller is fine. If it was shorter that is not right in my book.
