From my understanding a studio cannot prevent an actress from working on another film in between films they are contracted to.

Personally, I don't think that Daisy will end up getting to role anyway (or if she'd even want it to begin with). But I don't think that it'll be because "Disney won't let her."

Daisy Ridley may have hit the motherlode of film franchises when the then-virtual unknown was cast in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but the 23-year-old Brit actress is in the running for another cinematic icon: Lara Croft. Deadline understands that the fresh-faced Ridley is one of a number of actresses being considered for the Tomb Raider re-boot that Warner Bros and MGM are partnering on to produce and release.

While conversations have taken place, this is still very early and there have been no official negotiations or offer yet with the producers keeping their options wide open at this stage.

I might not be a huge expert when it comes to this series, but I can definitely tell that this is some great casting, if true.

It's not even a casting. She's basically on a shortlist but probably WB #1 choice for the role.

They'd also have to sort out scheduling with her too. She's doing Episode 8 now, so they'd probably try and get her to do this after and before she does Episode 9. That's even before if Daisy would want the role.

It sounds like a really early might not happen situation. Daisy would kinda be perfect for the role but I'm not taking this report to heart. Vikander should be on the list as well. I know they are probably going for a slightly younger Lara but Vikander is too talented to not look it.

She seems, kind of perfect for this:

-She's around the right age.
-She looks a lot like "Reboot Lara" naturally.
-She's British, so the accent shouldn't be a problem.
-She's proven that she can do action well.
-They'd be getting a potential future star while she's still in the earlier stages of her career.
-Etc.

Of course it's still early on and who knows if anything will end up coming of this. But, I'd be all for it if it did.

Color me surprised. There's plenty of time for this to fall through or disney to interfere so Im not getting my hopes up. And if Im being frank Id rather it fall through. I dont want something interfering with or causing problems with her commitment to star wars.

I'd prefer that she get to do other things besides just SW (although I certainly want to see more of Rey). Harrison Ford got to do Raiders of the Lost Ark in-between ESB and ROTJ after all.
