TOMB RAIDER being Re-booted!

Tomb Raider can get along just fine without an R rating. I do not need nor want an R rated Tomb Raider film.

Is "R rating" the new "cinematic universe"?

Bosslogics does it again

The only R rated content from the reboot was Lara's death animations, which obviously wont be needed in the films.

Also Daisy as Lara is so damned spot on, I hope it turns out to happen.

Vikander is in the similar spot JLaw was. I'm sure a franchise would be a nice feather in her cap but I'm sure she wants to make sure it's a quality one even if she's not the lead.

Does she need another failed franchise attempt on her record though after Man From UNCLE and Seventh Son?

Vikander's in the next Bourne movie. So she should try and be selective if she's looking to land her own franchise. Tomb Raider isn't exactly what I'd call the best deal for her. It's still a video game franchise and the last Tomb Raider movie was a bomb. Just because the game series had a successful relaunch doesn't mean the movies will follow suit.

She doesn't have to be in every script her manager or agent puts in front of her. Doesn't seem like she's a sure thing for this either.

Also it's a video game based movie. These don't exactly have the best track record. It's a reboot of a movie franchise that already basically failed. The last Tomb Raider movie bombed. Now they've been trying to get this off the ground for years with little success.

For years, the producers were trying to get Megan Fox to start in this reboot.

It's kind of fascinating that studios have such a hard time adapting games. Tomb Raider lends itself incredibly well to the adventure genre, and hiring a writer with a good track record who can plot out a high-stakes, character-heavy action pic would be a great step in the right direction.

Also, Daisy as Lara = perfection.

"She played an independent scavenger here, maybe she can play an independent scavenger here!"

Meh.

She could play Lara Crofts horse.

I've watched footage of the new game. It's M rated, gritty and realistic.
I played the game before it, mostly used the ax for attacks.
The joy of conserving ammo is great, even with the upgrade to retrieve arrows.
Couldn't play the game again cause of its quick time events system, it's annoyingly difficult, and I had no patience for it the second time.

Lara will destroy Daisy's career.
Like The Avengers and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen ruin the career of Sean Connery?
:oldrazz:

Well, Sean already had a long career behind him but it didn't ruin Angelina Jolie either.

I think Ridley would be good in the role (having only seen her in Star Wars)...but I think the movie would be a bad move for her. I mean...if it were to be a big hit, then it would be a good idea...its never bad to have a bunch of hits under your belt. I just feel like she should take on an ACTING project...something that will round her out a bit. And I don't believe that this movie is likely to be a major blockbuster anyway.

You make the best point and a point that I have been pondering since yesterday. The vast majority of the time when an actor breaks out in an action film I'd like to see them take on a project that is about performances without distractions from explosions and CGI, I like to see what that actor is really made of.

Look at it this way...

Daisy Ridley has done one movie...where she played a young woman who explores dangerous areas to get prized artifacts.

Her 2nd project might be Tomb Raider...a movie about a young woman who...uh...explores dangerous areas to get prized artifacts.

If the movie is not successful, then she will have established herself as Rey...and characters like Rey...but she can't carry a film without the Star Wars name. I don't feel that it's worth the risk. She should direct her agent to find out what roles Alicia Vikander and Jennifer Lawrence are trying to win an Oscar with, and go after those roles.

No doubt it would be smarter for a chance of career longevity to go after a couple of prestige films. Those probably should be at the top of her list.

I think I'm kinda leaning towards not wanting her to do the film now because I do want to see what she is really capable of.

This casting makes me marginally interested in seeing this, as I am not a gamer invested in the lore nor did I find anything of value in the previous films, yeah, not even Angelina's portrayal.

If anything, what I think would make or break this for me is who is directing it?

I thought Jolie was poor in the Tomb Raider films but then again I thought the films were poor.

I do believe that the script is the most important thing followed by the director.

Just checked out the writer's imdb and his stuff is pretty poor. I guess it may be best for Daisy to avoid this after all.
