Top 5 biggest dissapointing games

For me:

• GTA:IV
• Final Fantasy XII
• X-men Legends
• Tekken Tag
• KOTOR II

1) Fable (as someone said, so many broken promises).
2) Chrono Cross
3) MK: Armageddon
4) KOTOR II
5) Final Fantasy XII (had such high hopes when I heard the guy who did FFT was doing it, but was so let down).

Honorable mention: GTA IV, but only the radio aspect of the game. There is maybe 50 minutes combined on all three talk radio stations. Very disappointing. Especially since Lazlow's station is only about 10 minutes long. :csad:

Resident Evil 4

Hear me out, its not the gameplay. Its the storyline. The previews for the older versions promised resolution for the Umbrella aspect of the story, and just looking at character models and names, its not all that hard to imagine that this was once that resolution that was promised. Here, tell me what you think:

1.) Osmund Saddler: This guy was def. Ozwell Spencer at some point. Names are too damn similar, for one thing. Another, Spencer was of European nobility and in the old days they were big on the secret society thing.

2.) Krauser: He was either Wesker or maybe Nicholai. I'd lean more towards Wesker though.

3.) Ashley: Sherry at one point going by looks. Which would give more support to Krauser having once been Wesker.

4.) Las Plagas: The tentacles seen on multiple creations resulting from the parasite really resembled those found on Lisa Trevor, a Progenitor Virus (with nemesis parasite) creation. Hence the plagas was once either the Progenitor Virus or the mixture of the Progenitor Virus with the Nemesis Parasite.

You may be onto something as the original RE4 had Leon infected with the progenitor virus after breaking into Umbrella's headquarters. I actually thought Krauser was Nicholai at first. And Saddler being Spencer makes sense.

I personally have always been less interested in the first beta (where Leon was infected and fighting "fog monsters") and more interested in the "Hook Man" version, that was reportedly the scariest game ever made but was scrapped because there were too many supernatural elements.

1. Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel (The tactics was decent but the PS2/Xbox games were HORRIBLE!)
2. Mortal Kombat: Armageddon
3. MK vs DC Universe (I know it's not out but a T rated MK game with no Fatality!?)
4. Twisted Metal 3
5. Doom 3

1. Spider-Man 3
2. Lair
3. Sonic Heroes
4. Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
5. Metal Gear Solid 2

oh yeah, not only did the gameplay suck (Since when has Sonic had trouble going all the way through a loop without falling out the side?) but the characters sucked (WHo the hell were all those fricken talking animals and where did they come from, and who the hell cares about them?) and basically the whole premise sucked! Does a game where you have to constantly switch between three characters to pull off even the most basic tasks to the point of insane frustration sounds like a fun idea?....no, it doesn't

good call Tim, this game was a huge stinker!

I thought doom III was pretty much true to the spirit of the original.

Gotta disagree. Doom 3 was slow and more of a survival horro while Doom 1 & 2 were pure action and awesomeness! But thats just me:woot:

[in regards to Chrono Cross]Really? May I ask why?

Chrono Trigger is lightyears ahead of it in just about every way except graphics. I felt none of the magic of Chrono Trigger when I played Chrono Cross.

And I don't go for changing the entire cast of characters from game to game, as Square loves to (this is also part of the reason why I don't like the FF series).

I see. While it did somewhat disappoint me to find out that it was almost all new characters and I found it weird at first that the story was about parallel universes rather than time travel I still found the game very enjoyable. I liked how there was so many characters that intertwined with the story and how they were all pretty fleshed out. I also felt that all the branching paths and endings gave me reasons to replay the game. It kept my interest much more than FF7 did but I think because of their close releases CC got pretty much ignored.

Deus Ex; Invisible War - Because the game released before it (Deus Ex) was amazing. Invisible War is still good, but not on the same level as the first game

Red Faction 2 - The Geo-Mod engine was barely used, there was virtually no relation to the first game, and I wanted to see what happened on Mars after the rebellion.

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within

There's footage on IGN that gives a better view of the Hook Man, and he looks like a bloodied up ganado. Some of the areas from that game actually resemble darker areas from the released version of Resident Evil 4. The dolls were pretty creepy too.

I'll give you a run down and let you draw your own conclusions:

For me to enjoy a game it needs two things: a good story and fun gameplay. Resident Evil 4 delivered a lackluster story and good gameplay. Therefore the glass was either half full or half empty. I'd call it half empty since I was expecting a much better game from Capcom, given the two versions they'd scrapped. Usually you scrap something for a better version of that something.

All the areas barring commando island had a lot of potential and would've been very well-suited to the series, except they were just too bright and the enemies too stupid. A lack of good explanation through creepy files also took it down a few notches. Yeah, I'm a bit of a snob. :oldrazz:

The Matrix Path of Neo was sooooo disappointing its not even funny.

I haven't played it, but it can't possibly be as disappointing as "Enter the Matrix." I wanted to cry from how much that game blew, but I just took a deep breath, played Max Payne, and all was right again.

BTW, we can add that, plus "Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness" to my list.

Yeah , TR:AoD was SO bad, luckily the two latest titles (especially TR: Anniversay) really won me back- I love Lara again.

Before TRL, the last Tomb Raider I liked was TR2, and that was only because the gameplay was still fresh enough to work without an upgrade over TR2. Core had something great on their hands with TR, and they had no idea how to take it to the next level. Fortunately, Crystal Dynamics did, and they were able to do a good enough job that they brought TR back from the dead.

I hear Assassins Creed is great.I haven't played but was thinking of getting it.is it worth it.

I agree totally with Havok, it's a very repetative game, def a rental IMO.

Thing about Assasin's Creed is they hype it to hell and back, and then you find out you've seen the entire game within the first hour or so. It's not a bad game, it's beautiful graphically, and some of the cities look amazing when riding up to them. Then you get in the city and find out it's exactly like the other cities. You do your first mission feeling like a badass, and then find out every other mission is 100% identical to the first. Go into generic city, kill guy (every bad guy but the last 2 can be killed in one shot), rinse and repeat 8x or so.

Of course the worst thing was....well better put in spoilers
That you're actually in the future watching this thru a VR type setup.

However it's not a bad game, and I really didn't hype myself for it so it's not in my top 5.

5. Fantastic 4 for the PS1. It was a game I bought with my Christmas money from my Grandma. I played games with my friends a lot and I thought it'd be an uber co-op game. PURE and UTTER CRAP! This game was horrible. Hell the loading was soooo long they put a mini game while loading, and it was better than the game itself.

4. Resident Evil 3. I loved Nemesis' relentless attacks and the way he followed you around. Everything else just felt like a complete rehash from 1 & 2, nothing new to a then somewhat revolutionary series.

3. Street Fighter EX. I love SF, this game was a step back and I was looking forward to it. Rival Schools rocked, why not follow it's mold?

2. FFXII. After X2 I was done on FF until XIII. However ppl said it was good and I should give it a shot, it would get me back into FF...sadly I can't pull myself to even finish it.

1. FFX2. THE RPG that ruined me on RPG's for awhile. Too many bad things to mention, horrible game.

Honorable mentions, The Bouncer, any MK game after 3, Xenosaga.

1. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

2. Pretty much the entire Tom Clancy series since 2004

3. Halo 2 and to a lesser extent Halo 3

4. Not a game, but I'm really disappointed in all the FPS fans who didn't buy Unreal Championship 2. Epic made a really unique and incredibly fun shooter at a time when the industry was drowning in FPS mediocrity and this gem went painfully unnoticed by the masses. :csad:

5. I can't really think of a number five, but I'll throw Call of Duty 3 in here, even though I was expecting it to be bad.

Good list, totally agree with 2 and 1.

I'd like to honourably mention Kingdom Hearts II. Apart from the technical inferiorities (such as perspective, level design, pacing), the story, acting and exocution went WAY too japanese in format for me. The orginal is one of my best games ever, I love it to bits, but its hard to take when the sequel demands that you play the DS (I hate that system) version to grasp the massive headf*** at the start of the game. I took it as a capitalist slap to the face.
