Top 5 biggest dissapointing games

I agree totally with Havok, it's a very repetative game, def a rental IMO.

Thing about Assasin's Creed is they hype it to hell and back, and then you find out you've seen the entire game within the first hour or so. It's not a bad game, it's beautiful graphically, and some of the cities look amazing when riding up to them. Then you get in the city and find out it's exactly like the other cities. You do your first mission feeling like a badass, and then find out every other mission is 100% identical to the first. Go into generic city, kill guy (every bad guy but the last 2 can be killed in one shot), rinse and repeat 8x or so.

Of course the worst thing was....well better put in spoilers
That you're actually in the future watching this thru a VR type setup.

However it's not a bad game, and I really didn't hype myself for it so it's not in my top 5.
Exactly. It wasnt a bad game but it was disapointing how repetitive with not much variety to balance it out. That game did get hyped to hell and it got so many perfects and once I got it in my hands, I could see that it clearly was not.

GTA IV

Mortal Kombat 3 and beyond

All Sonic games after Sonic Adventure

Street Fighter EX

Spider-Man 2, and 3 movie game

The Incredible Hulk- this is pending since I'm renting it now, but on a techical level, it's a slight step down from Ultimate Destruction.

I didn't realise it was so lauded. I'd always read it as a 7/10 game?

The scores range from the far end of the spectrum to the other. Iv seen as high as a perfect 10, to as low as a 2.

I still think its one of the best controlling games of this generation. The combat and player movement, imo, is almost perfect. Where it snags, is like others have said, its repetitive, plus i dont like the set up for replaying the missions. Its an absolutely beautiful game tho, one of the best this gen with a pretty cool story.

Mortal Kombat Armageddon - Instead of just having the Kreate-A-Fatality they could have also given the characters who appeared in MKD their fatalities. The characters who appeared in MKDA but not MKD their fatalites plus an extra one since they only had one. And the characters who didn't appear in neither one some brand new fatalites. Way too much space got wasted on pointless unlockables such as pictures of the creators. Kombat mode got a bit repetive because they would make you fight the same characters in the same stage all the time.

Sonic 06 - Horrible controls and camerawork. Far too many glitches. The loading time was attricious. It did have a nice soundtrack though.

Spyro Enter The Dragonfly - Same as Sonic 06, minus the soundtrack then. It didn't have any memorable music. I was pissed when I beat the game and it didn't have the ending credits music from the first three. I love that song.

FFXII - I'm sorry people but I just did not like the battle system in this. I'm more used to how it was in the older games. I'm hoping that they go back to it.(Fat chance I know.)

Batman Dark Tomorrow - THIS is a Batman game?

Super Paper Mario - Got old for me really quick. I want a real Paper Mario 3 for the Wii.

-Metal Gear Solid 2
-Resident Evil 3
-Super Mario Sunshine
-Tony Hawk Underground (when I fell out of love with the series)
-Marvel: Ultimate Alliance

1) Fable (as someone said, so many broken promises).
2) Chrono Cross
3) MK: Armageddon
4) KOTOR II
5) Final Fantasy XII (had such high hopes when I heard the guy who did FFT was doing it, but was so let down).

Honorable mention: GTA IV, but only the radio aspect of the game. There is maybe 50 minutes combined on all three talk radio stations. Very disappointing. Especially since Lazlow's station is only about 10 minutes long. :csad:

:wow:

Do you like any, y'know, games that are...
good?

my top 5

1. Ultimate Spider-man
2. X-Men Legends 2
3. everything after Tony Hawks Underground (best in series, but also the last good one)
4. TMNT (Where is my 4 player co-op???)
5. The Sims 2 (console version)

Sonic for 360 was so bad that after playing it for a couple hours I went back to playing the original Sonic on Genesis.

Justice League Heroes was DC's attempt to put out a game in the XML/MUA vein, but it was so terrible. Aside from simply being a cheap knock-off, you couldn't pick which characters you played for more than half the game. (Though admittedly, the story for JLH was not bad, just the graphics, gameplay, cameras, abilities, and unlockables).

Those are the first two that come to mind.

wii - red steel

alot of hype as a launch game, and it blew

I expected better from Mass Effect.

Great thread idea.

GTA4 Multiplayer for me was a huge disappointment.

1. True Fantasy Live Online (Sooooooo much potential...but NO! Let's cancel it!)
2. World of Warcraft (I mean...it was cool for about a week or two...)
3. Grand Theft Auto Series (The random violence was cool...but then it was just boring, IMO)
4. Blinx: The Timesweeper (GREAT Premise...controls were too slow)
5. Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub Zero (Umm....why?!?!)

Oh yeah I'd like to add Red Steel and Sonic Adventure 2 (and all sonic games beyond that) as well.

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within (huge difference from the first)
Metroid Prime (just couldn't get into it)
Perfect Dark Zero (Loved Perfect Dark, it sucked)
Gears of War (I thought it was immensely overrated)
Call of Duty 3 (2 was awesome. 3 tried to add too much like the melee fights)

None of these games are the biggest disappointments ever. They're 5 games that I didn't like as much as I hoped I would.

Halo (I hate the entire franchise, so it's not just the first)
Blood Omen 2 (what a horrible addition to the LOK franchise)
Resident Evil 4 (it's not scary and has little to do with RE)
Final Fantasy XII (too many issues to count)
Fable (interesting for all of 30 minutes)

Wow...those are some set of lists.

Gotta say, Mass Effect being on anyone's list of dissapointing games surprises me the most. GTA IV as well.

Fable making anyones list isn't so shocking. Even thought it was a good game, so much was promised that never got delivered.

I remebered what my biggest dissapoint game was, Splinter Cell : Double Agent.

After the FANTASTIC Chaos Theory

I would have been, only already knowing about the Dev team rotation...I kinda saw it coming. In case some don't know, the Dev team rotation is alot like the one for COD. Where there's an Ubisoft Montreal and an Ubisoft Shanghai set of teams that work on a Splinter Cell game while the one is released.

Ubisoft Montreal made the first Splinter Cell, and made Chaos Theory. As well as the Xbox version of Double Agent (which I think is the best Splinter Cell game ever.)

Ubisoft Shanghai made Pandora Tomorrow and Double Agent for the 360.

I have high hopes for ConViction, know Montreal is working on it.

But...ConViction could become the biggest dissapointing game for me, if it doesn't hit the mark. Rumors of Michael Ironside being fired only adds to the chances of that game being a utter failure to me as a Splinter Cell game.

And, I've also heard that the new Alone in the Dark game is probably the most dissapointing game of the year so far. I expected it to get great reviews...but so far, it's hitting the floor everywhere I see it.
