wait a minute, no Mars?? how the hell are they going to overlook that when it played such a central point in the original film?!

the original Total Recall didn't exactly have the most fleshed out or charismatic characters.

I thought Quaid was awesome. I felt for his plight. Richter, who can forget Ironside's Richter? That's a villain you love to hate.

And the story was just genuinely interesting.

i believe they're going to base this one more on the original short story. in it the main character had fabricated memories of Mars, but i don't think he actually TRAVELED to Mars.

i have to admit that i'm a bit disappointed that they won't be going to Mars, but i'm okay with it. the point of a remake is to bring something new to the table.

to be fair, Arnold and Ironside did very well with their roles. Arnold is always entertaining (until the late 90's) and Ironside is just great.

so he doesnt go to mars. but he is dreaming about mars?

haha yea, that's another thing that was great about the original. It was ambiguous. Was he really on Mars? Was he really a superspy? Did he really save the day? Or was all that part of the superspy package he bought from Recall?

This remake seems to be doing away with that.

You're almost always wrong anyhow.:oldrazz: Still :hrt: you though.

:lmao: :hrt:

Exactly, the Arnie movie was at times a dark comedy in it's depiction of certain things, and it thrived off the grotesque at points, with a superman lead.

What they seem to be going for here is more of a futuristic spy thriller, using a quality actor in the lead role to bring a more everyman Quaid.

in this remake, i don't know...

Who says Arnold went to Mars? :oldrazz:
haha, touche'!!!

yeah that's one thing i love about the original so i hope they keep that. even though he's not going to Mars they can still script it with an ambiguous ending.

And to be fair, the twist at the end was that there were memories beneath the ones Rekall uncovered, meaning the old life he thought he was remembering might have been fake as well.

Interesting to see John Cho in this. He seems to be geting bigger as a film star.

Hmm... interesting. I'll keep my eye out for this one.

Greeeeeeeeaaaaaat, another uneeded remake. First Oldboy, now this. (Well this is the first I'm hearing of this, I didn't think they were already filming.)

No Mars? Wtf? Good thing I still have my Mars shaped dvd. Guess they won't be making a blu ray one for this.

If there's no three boobed hooker or no Johnny Cab, I'm not interested.

Quaid won't be dreaming about Mars. He lives in New Asia and implants memories of traveling to Euroamerica, which is when everything starts to go awry.

Not a huge fan of the suits, but the police vehicles are awesome.

The futuristic police cars look cool! I'm not happy about the absence of Mars in the movie. At this point, I'm going to see the remake of Total Recall after all.
