Age of Extinction Transformers 4 is going to be AWESOME. - Part 1

Yeah, we need Ultra Magnus, who I suspect Optimus will find in space.

I wonder, why can't we have combiners vs combiners? I mean we're already on our 4th movie already. I remember the old classic days where we can see Menasor vs Superion or Bruticus vs Defensor.

This would be very enlightening for us fan. But if I had to take a guess, Bay won't be doing this because of the cost it take to make this action sequence no?

I can't say that we won't ever see more combiners but at this point the cost to have them on screen for any length of time is more expensive than having just the individual ones on screen.

They had lots of problems with the cgi rendering of Devastator in part 2 because he was so massive but in the end he looked awesome in Revenge Of The Fallen except for the gratuitous nut shots.

I don't think there's a mob mentality towards Bay movies. In the end it just comes down to personal preference and the fact that the consumer is smarter today than 30 years ago, IMO. The Information Age has made us all less ignorant regarding the quality of the products we consume.

There are movies I really liked, for example Beverly Hills Ninja & Punisher War Zone, that are considered some of the worst movies made their year of release. Do I acknowledge them as "good" movies? Absolutely not, but I find them highly entertaining and own my own copies. Transformers falls into that same category for a lot of people. They're bad movies, but they're very entertaining to a lot of people, thus the BO success.

So where does the series go from here? I take it the next movie will be set in space with Optimus and other Autobots seeking out the creators?

Saw the movie last night and I really enjoyed it.

Wahlberg was far, far better as a leading character than Shia, him and Prime is a better duo than Sam & Bee (who I thought was rather cool in this one).

The dinobots could have had a little more in their screentime, but I did like how they were done.

Jhn Goodman was hilariously brilliant as Hound, watanbe was... Muted as Drift and DiMaggio was great as Crosshairs. Mark Ryan deserves a lot more recognition for the various roles he's had over the franchisee.... His Lockdown was menacingly good.

The weird red eye alien things on the ship were weird... Definitely looked like a puppet job that should have been a CGI one

Hopefully we'll get TF 5 announced soon...

This weekend Michael Bay became the second highest grossing film director of all time. He has $2 Billion in total BO. Number one is Spielberg with $4 Billion.

And James Cameron?

And James Cameron?

number 4...behind Robert Zemeckis

Just now noticing this is a Domestic criteria. All the same though, that's interesting to know. I suspect Cameron will make some waves on this list with his next 3 pictures, then again now that the 3D hype has died down, who knows.

I been re watching the movies online to catch up before I go see Transformers 4 and I know im not the only one that noticed this in the first film

Clearly a person in the car right here

but just a few seconds later the cop car turns into a Transformer

That's deliberate... That's the guy they got to be the hologram driver for Barricade. IIRC, he was the actual pilot for blackout (?) and they slapped a moustache on him to be the holopilot.... Then decided to use him for Barricade as well.

I never understood why the didn't use more holograms, like for the Autobots. Would have been a good way to make them talk, while in vehicle mode. Although you don't even need holograms for that. It's disappointing they never talked in vehicle mode. Always felt to me like there's some sort of disconnect. You always see those beautiful CGI renders of Transformers kicking ass and talking smack, and as soon as they become vehicles, void of any personality. They are just objects. At least Bumblebee plays the radio.

When in vehicle mode, the Transformers should have been more like KITT.

I think only Optimus will be seeking out the creators, he told the other Autobots to protect the Yaegar family, so Bee, Drift, Hound and Crosshairs will remain on earth.

Optimus may encounter other Autobots in space of course, hopefully Hot Rod and Ultra Magnus.

I think the Dinobots will come back as well.

That would be great, it would be a shame if the Dinobots were a one and done deal. It would be cool if they got the G1 color scheme and possibly the voice actors from the G1 series ala Fall of Cybertron.

I think if the Dinobot toy sales are through the roof we will be seeing them again, despite Bay not liking them supposedly.

Plus, they were in Lockdowns ship and he was collecting the 'knights' for a reason, the dinobots or at least Grimlock were important to the creators plans it seems.

I'm surprised Optimus left knowing Megatron is back. Because he was the only Autobot that could take him. I get him wanting the creators off of his back. But surely take care of Megatron first

^As you say I think he had more pressing concerns at that point, plus Galvatron was on his own, his army had been defeated.

Megatron not having an army wont stop him. Im sure he has a replacement army in mind already

I'm really curious to see how they'll handle the Decepticons in the next film. I recall Attinger mentioning that there were still a few unaccounted for, so I'd imagine that's how Galvatron will get an army.

Hopefully they go back to the TF1 model and have them be individual characters instead of just random protoforms. If they're bringing in the Quintessons, use the Sharkticons as the cannon fodder.

^Agreed, I am sure he will rally some sort of army to his cause. But with the creators presumably being involved, we may finally see the Autobots and Decepticons team up.

Them teaming up seems logical at this point. Because its not like Optimus will eventually return to Earth & come back to a ruined & destroyed Earth because of Megatron would he ?

I wonder if paramount is satisfied with the box office, as it looks likely to be lower than the 1.1 billion take of the lasy money.

Unless they do an 'All Hail Megatron' type of storyline were the decepticons have conquered Earth. But I cant see them doing that, plus there are Autobots on Earth to challenge Galvatron.

I think the Quintessons is were this is going next though.

I think they will be in the end, the movie will still make a lot of money.

Everything I've read said it will cross 1 bil

If a movie makes a crap ton of money into itself and even relative to other big successful films. That it's down from previous installments is far less a factor than if those first two parameters aren't met.

For example, TDKR made less than TDK by all accounts...
I think we'll have a better idea of what the studio might think when the dust settles. It's not everyday a film crosses a billion, especially a forth film with new actors.
