Transformers Transformers IMDB rating

And MY point is that their votes mean precisely squat! They will be a very small percentage of the total votes by the time the film in question comes out on DVD and has run it's course.
Mr. Socko, you can also read this post.

Not just them, most people on IMDB. Look at their list of 250 Best films and see just how much ridiculous crap is on there.

You're right but the site still doesn't hold much credibility. Whether a movie has 100,000 normal votes, and 1,000 of them is from fools who vote without seeing it, I still consider the entire thing void. The percentage of people who vote without seeing the film doesn't matter, it's the fact that they vote period.

As for IMDB, you can't trust them at all because crazy fanboys will give a movie a 10 without even seeing it and stupid haters will give it a 1 for no reason at all. Seriously just look at this. It's Bruce Campbell's newest film that's not even released yet but rabid fanboys are giving it 10s. It currently has close to 1000 votes and it holds a 9.9/10 when it hasn't even come out yet...

I knew someone would say this. :D

That's why I've been posting the day to day numbers for the early screenings.

Does anyone honestly believe that all the female ratings have been faked?

Who goes to the trouble of creating a fake account, as a female no less just to sabotage/boost a film?

Yes, there's extremes, but just for humor sake, let's throw aside the 10s and the 1s, you get:

1,822 17.8% 9
968 9.5% 8
593 5.8% 7
317 3.1% 6
186 1.8% 5
105 1.0% 4
102 1.0% 3
88 0.9% 2

Which still seems to indicate an overwhelmingly positive reaction.

It's bizarre to see the female audience rating the movie higher than the male portion. That's quite likely due to the 10/1 factor that's in play at the moment.

Anyways, I just thought it would be interesting to see the trending among the subgroups. I figured most reviewers would go the cliched "it doesn't appeal to females" attack, and the votes seem to indicate otherwise (at least among females that actually see the film)

I'll post an update later today with new numbers.

I used to say that as well about female viewers. I had no idea they would like the film as much as they do. But every single female I know who has seen the movie has loved it.

A movie does not have to appeal to females to be good. thank god

My girl loved it. We went to see Die Hard 4.0 today, she hated it. I liked it, but it was a bore compared to Transformers.

Ratings for the other big summer movies:

Die Hard 4 - 8.1
At World's End - 7.3
Spider-man 3 - 6.8
Shrek 3 - 6.5
Fantastic Four ROTSS - 6.4

Anyone know what's up with the Top 250 films thing?

It used to be on the list, now it's absent.

it's just out. If you look at the rating in top 250. You'll notice that it changes there actually for those newly released movies.

while TF was in the list its top 250 rating is actually like 7.9 (not the 8 point some on its own IMDB page), which is the bottom of the top 250. I guess, it's gonna be hard for it to go back there.

Time may prove everything.

thing I don't understand about IMDB top 250.

I saw the weighted rating, which is what they use for the top 250 rating calculation.

-----------------------------weighted rating -----------------------
weighted rating (WR) = (v ÷ (v+m)) × R + (m ÷ (v+m)) × C

where:
R = average for the movie (mean) = (Rating)
v = number of votes for the movie = (votes)
m = minimum votes required to be listed in the Top 250 (currently 1300)
C = the mean vote across the whole report (currently 6.7)
---------------------------------------------------------------

How does that indicates that TF is not in top 250 with "8.1/10 (36,959 votes)" and this movie (Zodiac)ranked No. 198 there with only "8.1/10 (20,837 votes)"?

Really can't figure out the formula there.

Well when I saw SM3 I kept reading bad and good reviews about it and it turns out when I saw it I wished I had never wasted my money to go see it at the IMAX, so reviews do help and give you an idea of what to expect

Boo! Spidey 3 was great

That is an awesome rating....i still cant believe it's that high with that amount of votes...just great.

Heh, and it's currently scoring better than Potter :D
