and i thought the FF fans were the worst and most protective ones here......

i was wrong.

FF was pretty faithful to the source material as far as the characterizations and look was concerned. Sure, the origin was changed a little bit to link Doom to the story but overall, pretty faithful. Notsomuch with Transformers so far.

That's why I enjoyed FF.

FF for me wasn't great or bad. It didn't entertain me as much. Final battle sucked.

TF has had a ot of changes but come on would a G1 live action totally loyal movie really work. I think they'll still the spirit.

i enjoyed it because jessica alba was in it O.o

my thoughts exactly:up:

Steven Spielberg's comments show exactly what's wrong with this movie. He and Bay don't like Transformers. They don't want to make a Transformers movie. They want to stick the Transformers name on a movie they want to make.

That's the reason they have no respect for the TF fans or the classic TF.

Michael Bay is getting a cut of the merchandise rights. His salary plus 10-20% of Hasbro toy profits, he's starting to rank right up their with George Lucas for his businessman like deals. I have nothing but contempt for bay and his sh$^#y Transformers film he is attemting to make.

My mistake then i assumed you meant to say alternatives rather than alteratives...
I did, thanks for pointing that out.

Well now I can sit back while Michael Bay bends us over and sticks his wang into our asses a little bit farther. Can someone send him an e-mail stating this and I quote, "From all of us at SHH to you, thanks for raping our childhood Michael."

In hindsight, that pic might not go ove well with the mods. But I like it!

its not like its REAL or anything.................

the mpaa has a grasp on the shh now!!

I wonder now if Starscream's entrance will be during the LA fight rather than the dam. But then that would just push his appearance back until the almost final moments of the film. huh. I'm curious on how the city fight will go. Furby's aside:o

???? wtf ????

Great...our director didn't even want to direct it in the first place. No wonder he doesn't appeal to the fans...he's originally a non-fan. His realistic alien-invasion-robot comment really has me worried that he'll be approaching this more as WotW than what the Transformers originally was...which was two classes of warring robots.

I also seem to recall Spielburg didnt want to do Jaws at first either.

I've never heard that.
But, regardless, comparing Steven Spielberg, a man who uses special effects to complement his brilliant storytelling, to Michael Bay who pretty much does the reverse is downright ridiculously ludicrous.

Here are some more differences:

1) While definately "adapting" some things, Spielberg worked very closely with Peter Benchley to ensure he captured the essense of the book (Just like he would do with Chrichton years later). I don't recall hearing about Bay consulting with Bob Budiansky or Jim Shooter or anybody of the like except for the CEO of Hasbro.

2) Spielberg actually poured sweat into the screenplay writing a lot of it with Benchley. Bay hires two Television writers to do his. I don't think Bay has ever been accussed of having "writing" talent.

3) After Jaws, Spielberg turned down several "big budget" movies (Superman for one) in favor of WRITING and making a more low-key intellectual movie (Close Encounters). I don't think Bay has ever seen a Big Paycheck he didn't like.

4) Every single GOOD director has made at least one "Real" movie. Sam Raimi? "A Simple Plan." Brian Singer? "A Usual Suspects." Spielberg? Countless. Bay? NONE.

I am a big Jaws fan and I watch the documentary all the time. He didnt want to do it at first because he just did a movie that was just like it with cars called Duel. Spielburg didnt work with Benchley. In fact Spielburg and Benchley didnt agree on the film several times. They changed a lot of the original story as they were filming.
From Wikipedia......
All in all, Benchley wrote three drafts before deciding to bow out of the project.[5] Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Howard Sackler happened to be in Los Angeles when the filmmakers began looking for another writer and offered to do an uncredited rewrite, and since the producers and Spielberg were unhappy with Benchley's drafts they quickly accepted his offer.[6] Spielberg sent the script to Carl Gottlieb (who appears in a supporting acting role in the film as Meadows, the politically connected reporter), asking for advice.[6

I'll watch that doc. I always thought they wrote the script together and that there wasn't huge strife (aside from the usual stuff). BTW, I was a fan of the book as well as the movie and I thought Spielberg did a top notch job... I didn't miss Brody's wife's love affair at all. (same with Jurassic Park... the super dumbed down science lesson scene notwithstanding).

At least Spielberg didn't turn the shark into a natural-sized tiger shark (more believable) or a Killer Whale (more poignant with the possibility of Seaworld Product Placement).... which is what Bay would have done. :cwink:
