Didn't like Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. First was way better. Reason?

Cons:
1. Absolutely ZERO character development for the Autobots. Bumblebee was there, but still felt somewhat empty. Optimus was the only one with a presence.

2. All the attention was on Skip and Mudflap. It's like Jar Jar in Star Wars! ARGH! These twin racist representations of ghetto people was only smirk worthy some of the time. Most of the time all we see is them! I want Ironhide! Ratchet! Arcee! Bumblebee! Sideswipe! These guys were only seen fighting, being transported, and with one liners in the fights. THAT'S IT =(

3. All style, no substance. As expected, but more so than I thought.

Pros:
1. Optimus Prime kicks tons of ass. This makes up for his lacking in the first.

2. Megatron and Starscream are just like they are in the original cartoons, great addition.

3. The CGI was AMAZING. Hot damn I've never seen so much special effects. It's like the end of the first movie times ten. Great job in this department.

Loved the first, so-so for this. I'd say 6/10-6.5/10

I'll give it a rewatch, maybe my verdict will be different like it was for Sin City when I rewatched that.
I agree for the most part.

Did anyone LOL when Starscream spited on Sam multiple times:hehe:, also did anyone find it a bit odd how the twins where able to hold their own against devastator but jazz gets killed off easily in the first movie by Megatron.:csad:

Sam doesn't want to be a part of the weirdness anymore, of the autobots war, etc. That's his arc in this movie. Going from wanting out, to realizing his importance to it all.

Cars are not allowed on campus for freshmen. Sam pretty much says this, doesn't he?
Not to mention that he isnt huge or made of metal. Its a freaking miracle that he is still alive.

Ok...

Before going to see ROTF a few hours ago, I perused these boards wondering what other people thought of the movie. I read the arguments...I saw all about how "the Twins" were racist and all the good and bad from both sides. Being an african-american from the Southern state of Mississippi, I know all about racism inside and out..though all white people down here are NOT racists. So going into this movie, in the back of my mind I had a slight bit of apprehension, though I was determined to watch it with an open mind.

After having seen this movie, I only saw one thing wrong with this movie--the cursing. I think there should have been less considering the theatre was filled with many children, who were in attendence. Other than that, I found the movie to be a great summer blockbuster.

The "twins" Mudflap and Skids could have been rednecks, white ghetto kids, black ghetto kids, or really anyone from a corner of today's generation that listens to Rap (Rap, NOT Hip Hop), who thinks talking in that manner will make them seem as hardcore. The only difference is THE TWINS BACKED UP THEIR TRASH TALK. I saw nothing racist about them...and to be honest, as I've heard a few of my British friends say time and again, "If you can't take the piss out on yourself, then you take yourself WAY TOO SERIOUSLY." In other words, if you can't make fun of yourself, and culture in general, then you take yourself WAY TOO SERIOUSLY.

The storyline...

I saw nothing wrong with it. There was nothing broken about it. They only real problem I saw was possibly the airfield outside the door of the Smithsonian. For those saying, "How could they be in Washington one moment and Egypt the next?"...ever heard of Teleportation. It's obvious from Jetfire and the Fallen that preiovus Autobots and decepticons and primes for that matter had powers that their current descendants either don't or haven't discovered yet. I saw no problem in the "porting" of the group. The end battle was how war is in real life. It is often mixed, confusing and all the other words that I've seen on these forums. You try having bombs falling all around you ever way they possibly can, and not find yourself slightly off kilter.

To put it plain, if you went into that movie expecting an Oscar worthy movie, you set yourself up for an epic fail. This movie delivered on what it was always supposed to be---a summer blockbuster that you can go to and enjoy. A movie that you can turn your brain off to and enjoy the wonder. That's what I got out of the movie...and I found it very enjoyable.

For those that seem to not be able to do that...more's the pity.

It was after the Fallen had announced himself to the world, then the news saying Obama was hiding in a bunker (which makes sense if there is an imminent threat). Lennox then tells Galloway that you can't use diplomacy against these guys. I interpreted it as a reference to Iran and other countries in the Middle East, but your opinion may be different.
I havent seen the movie yet, but it seems logical to me that humans, so inferior to these robots wouldnt stand a chance of negotiating, but we would try. I am not sure though if Bay is pro-Bush. He certainly is as smart as he is though.

Bay and ILM were bragging about how they did a better job this time and that the bots now huff, they have liquids and all that. Prime spitting a tooth (or whatever that was) after he gets blown away in the forest and SS spitting were probably what they meant. The SS part though is pretty lame.

to me it looked like devastators mission was to get on the pyramide. nto so much destroying autobots. megatron was really pissed in TF1. he was an evil monster who wanted to brake everything infront of him.

^ ah good logic, another thing i wanted to discuss was Starscream reconnecting his arm but then i remembered transformers were able to do that in the cartoons so it worked for me.:yay:

Much better than I expected, but not as good as it could have been. One thing is for sure, if this had opened on a Friday it would have dwarfed what TDK and Spider-man opened at over the last couple of years, so people do seemed to be drawn to this despite the bad reviews.

This movie is everything a Transformers movie should be, with the exception of al the corny stuff. I don't know whose stupid idea it was to make those idiotic annoying twin auto-bots, but I kept hoping they would get killed somewhere allong the line. I also think alot of the dumb stuff in the beginning of the film could have been cut, and the annoying room mate should have been dropped all together, or had his role significantly reduced.

Also, am I the only one who missed Jon Voight? I think his presence in the first film was huge, and it was sorely missed in this film.

All and all, I pretty much rate this the same as I do the first 3/5.

You can thank Bay's sense of humor for that.

just saw the film, and i believe the good outweighs the bad significantly, im not one of the people who expects every movie to make him think.I see the value of letting the brain rest and putting myself in the position of the eight year old boy i used to be, and it bothers me that people have begun to take themselves so seriously.I didnt laugh at most of the so called humor and i was annoyed by the slang talking autobots, but not to the point that i was offended, and it was in this i realised people not only take themselves too seriously but are far too sensitive and weak.I expected nothing more or less than giant robots beating the **** out of eachother and blowing stuff up, optimus prime is a noble and strong leader who never quits, megatron and starscream are at eachothers throats, the effects are pretty to watch, the story is basic good vs evil which i welcome because ive grown quite disgusted by all the morally grey characters who have been polluting my entertainment, it has everything i care about from the g1 cartoon, only it is not as dated, and this is all i could possibly ask for in a transformers film.

I hate it, I really hate it when people say they just wanted giant robots and that's what they got. I don't want freaking Schindler's List, but when the Movie takes a break from constantly showing **** blow up, I'd like to follow a story that isn't completely facepalm inducing. Which just means to leave out all the immature crap.

Went to see it for the first time this morning at 9:30 am, the theater was 75% full and I have to say, the film was great. Much better than the first and I loved the first. Great to see more Decepticons, still wish they would work in Thundercracker and Skywarp, but that was the only complaint.
Movie was intense, had a very good story, made alot of changes to the Transformers mytho's but that is ok, I grew up watching first run episodes of Transformers back in the 80's and I understand that changes are nessary and am happy with them, not married to the classic characters and story.
I give it a 10 out of 10, worth seeing, you'll love it.

Yeah, I'm 100% with you on that. The immature stuff, pretty much breaks the film. There was alot of great stuff in this movie, and the immature crap spoils alot of it.

Yeah, down with complexity. Let's keep the writing as simplistic and banal as possible so that audiences don't have to go to the trouble of actually engaging themselves with the movie. :down

Caught it today, I watched the first film this morning before I went to see it. Personally, it's a great sequel to the first film. I really don't get the people who think it's a major departure from the first film. Then again, I don't get the people calling the Twins racist.

Had some issues with the pacing (just like T:S), also with the "parked" Autobots. But the FX were great, as was the action. Next to Star Trek, the best film of the summer for entertainment.

7/10

Trek? or just summer movie in general?

I've only seen 3 movies at the cinema this year, so far. TF, Star Trek and Terminator. I liked them all. :woot:

if you are reffering to my comment about being disgusted with shades of grey in todays characters, not everything is complex, human beings just like to complicate things, someone commits a terrible act and then tries to compensate by saying it was for a greater good, or because they were wronged by society so they dont have to feel like the bad guy and live with the guilt, doesnt make them complex, just makes them a complete and utter *****, because to choose between good or evil is the most difficult choice we ever have to make, there is only black and white, no middle.

you hate it? you really hate it? and i care that you hate it because? I remember saying i didnt care for the so called humor, in fact i did find it a little immature.I only think people make it seem worse than it really is.

If you see everything in such simplistic black and white terms then you're in serious need of intellectual growth and a more sophisticated and mature understanding of morality and human nature. Saying things are all divided in to "good" and "evil" with no in between is grade school stuff. Most people grow out of that way of thinking when they start reading books without pictures in them. Perhaps the idea that human beings are complex creatures or that the morality of human behavior actually has nuance upsets you because it threatens the simplistic beliefs that you find comforting. Or perhaps it upsets you because it would force you to do some intellectual heavy in order to comprehend nuance. It's very easy to go through life thinking in terms of black and white because that way you don't actually have to think about anything or be introspective about your opinions. Everything is all laid out for you in two nice little columns so your brain can remain on autopilot and let those two little columns of good and evil do all the thinking for you. And what's more, with everything so neatly classified you can feel safe and secure because human beings and their behavior can be placed in that binary without having to deal with the uncertainty bred from all that scary nuance. All of that is fine, just don't go complaining about the fact that there are movies out there for grownups.

Man this thread is filling up the report box at mod central and I don't want to come in here and dish out a bunch of infractions etc b/c this thread would be seeing less action than Seymour Hoffman's pants.

So lets get some perspective here, guys, ditch the "I'm smarter than you" stuff and the "you're an idiot if you like this/you're an elitist ******* if you don't" mentality and have some civilized debating and discussion.
