Destroying the sun for energon was Bay's way of avoiding the environmental message that would come from taking energon from the Earth...Weak.

I think it's more that this was his way of making stealing our resources an immediate threat to the human race.

The slow depletion of oil isn't particularly gripping, even if the longterm effects would suck. As we know here in 2009, there are likely other sources of energy than oil.

The Optimus death scene was wasted. It's like the Autobots didn't even care he died. They should've been the ones to recover his dead body out of respect.

What are they going to do, fireman carry him back to base? Drag him the whole way?

It's meant to mirror the sequence earlier in the film, when the humans are coming back in flag-draped coffins and given reverence. And then here, they just drop Optimus to the tarmac to the horror of the waiting Autobots. He's just a robot to some of the humans, which prompts Ironhide's "We should leave this planet".

The forced Obama bashing and military brown nosing was lame.

The constant battle.. never gets old! For the record, AnorexicBatman, I loved Transformers 2 and hated every movie you listed. You're comparing this movie with Battlefield Earth? Catwoman? Batman .. and Robin? Your logic is off somewhere in that brain of yours.. :/

I am sure for most of the people who LOVED Transformers 2; Dogs huping, wheeling humping Megan's legs, Devastators balls and John Turturro's crotch in a g-string visible in full glory must have been the highlights. Not to mention the "Species" ripoff Alice, Deceptions who are now liquid metal and can separate into ball bearings only to reform later...

If you seriously LOVE this film then I assure you. Batman & Robin, Manos The Hands Of Fate, Battlefield Earth, Catwoman, Fantastic Four 1 & 2, Ghost Rider and Plan 9 from Outer Space will absolutely blow your mind

Bumblebee comes to save the day, saving Sam's life.

So how come in the next scene he is telling Bumblbee to go away?
Without him, Sam would never survive...

Secondly, why would you want to give up what is possibly the coolest car in the world?
A 2009 Camaro Concept that turns into a robot soldier....

I absolutely loved Devastator ... except that part... otherwise he was AWESOME!

Maybe because a many thousand years old robot warrior is confined in a small garage and has to protect a geek? I think he feels sorry for him and he wants to pursue a normal college life.

1. More stereotypical than racist, if anything. Tons of overreaction toward them. Some people find them annoying, but they're there to provide some comedic relief and they serve a plot point during the movie.

2. I don't know, Obama's name is mentioned like once in passing. I guess because he appointed someone that was in opposition to the Autobots interference on Earth. I didn't really get any anti-Obama messages out of the film.

You say "nothing", but then describe a pointless scene where Sam's parents are annoyed by a mime while eating in Paris, and then dismiss French food (represented by escargot) as gross and looking like "goose crap". It was just the usual dumbed-down Michael Bay gag of getting a cheap laugh from stereotyping other countries. Just like the annoying, nose-picking middle-eastern guy handling the long-distance phone service call in the first TF movie.

Sam doesn't want to be a part of the weirdness anymore, of the autobots war, etc. That's his arc in this movie. Going from wanting out, to realizing his importance to it all.

Cars are not allowed on campus for freshmen. Sam pretty much says this, doesn't he?

The anti-Obama stuff was definitely noticeable. Basically saying diplomacy doesn't work. Yes, in this movie it wouldn't have, but the moment the character said it, it just seemed forced.

It was after the Fallen had announced himself to the world, then the news saying Obama was hiding in a bunker (which makes sense if there is an imminent threat). Lennox then tells Galloway that you can't use diplomacy against these guys. I interpreted it as a reference to Iran and other countries in the Middle East, but your opinion may be different.
