Transformers: The War for Cybertron

I finished the Decepticon part of the campaign last night, pure awesomeness,:up: and I played some multiplayer, LOVED IT, so much fun, they nailed it with this one imo!!!:awesome::up: I'll be starting the Autobot part of the campaign in a little while, I just put in my code for Shockwave so if you see a beedy little yellow eye behind you RUN SUCKER RUN lol!!!:oldrazz::D:up:

Finished the Decepticon Campaign yesterday. Took me a little over 5 hours. So far, the game is awesome. Only nitpicks I have is that the textures sometimes require some time to load and that the screen occasionally flickers during intense action.

Btw, here's Gametrailer's review.

so is this worth getting, i'm not what you would call a huge transformers fan, i know the story of g1 and most of the characters but could be quizzed on it like i could masters the universe

I'm shocked that they rated the game so low .

Yeah especially after the glowing review that they gave. I am addicted to Escalation. What a fantastic mode, its just nonstop mayhem.

Ultimate Evil, yeah i'd say its worth the purchase if not than definitely a rental. The campaign is pretty fantastic and is close to 10 hours to complete it. Online has its annoyances but overall is really fun and escalation is just as addicting as any other horde mode.

I'm probably close to finishing chapter 4 in the Decepitcon campaign. I love it. I've played as Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave, and Brakedown so far. Starscream is the best because of his infinite ammo in jet mode. I like Soundwave the least since he starts with lousy weapons. Megatron is cool but you can't drop the blaster on his arm (obviously) which isn't that great.

I finished the Autobot campaign last night. The final boss battle gets frustrating until you get the hang of it, but it's still really fun. Overall I enjoyed playing as the Autobots a bit more, maybe it had something to do with playing as Prime and wielding that big ass axe he's got.

Still about 2 chapters away from finishing the Decepticon's campaign. I like how the stories are ENTIRELY different and not just copies of each other with the roles reversed like in the other Transformers games.

Overall I really enjoy the game. I think there's room for a lot of improvements should they decide the sequel. My biggest complaint, the game isn't done in 1080 and looks blocky at times. Come on guys, it's 2010. Also, I'd like a cover system, a feature to upgrade weapons/armor, and some more variety with the combat. Other than that I think it's a solid game and DEFINITELY a step up from those horrid movie games they released.

8/10

I assume you're playing on PS3 since I think all 360 games are 1080p capable. But not every PS3 game is. I know Darksiders and Heavy Rain can only do 720p.

Yeah, PS3. I've compared it to the XBOX one and there wasn't much difference. I don't know why they don't make these games in hi-def, ESPECIALLY a game like this with so many moving components and environments.

Most games on both consoles are native 720p. The 360 can upscale all games to 1080p, but most, if not all, 1080p HDTV's upscales as well. Most of the time if a game is native 720p, it can look worse upscaled to 1080p, because the developer did not intend fo the image to be "stretched".

you can force some games to upscale to 1080 by unselecting 720p from your display settings. Id leav eit alone though as the PS3 picks the best settings for the game and considering the majority are native 720p, thats what it keeps it as

Yeah, I mean it's not the worst thing in the world. The game doesn't look bad, it just doesn't look as crisp as other games I've been playing lately. I'm not going to take it back and hold my breath until they release a true hi-def Transformers game, it's just something I noticed. Even the cut scenes were a bit blocky too.

You know what I mean. Hi-def meaning clean and crisp without all of this choppy/blocky animation. On par with God of War, or Gears of War - both games looked about as good as you can get these days.

The gameplay is a blast--hyperkinetic and fast paced, which is a welcome change of pace from the usual stop-and-pop shooters these days, which all focus on slowing down gampleay. It's immensely satisfying to fly into a battle, transform and drop out of the sky, and then switch back and blast off again. The transforming mechanic blends really well and becomes intuitive as you play. The multiplayer is also really killer.

Level design in the campaign is sort of bland and same-ish, but you can counter that by playing coop, which is amps up the gameplay considerably, and most of the time you won't notice, anyway: everything just moves so fast that it's hard to ever get bored.

I agree with you. I'm having a lot of fun with multiplayer, especially the escalation mode. Do you only get the 2 maps or are there other ones available?

I haven't tried escalation yet, so I can't say.

I'm in the second to last Autobot chapter. Unfortunately it froze and I don't have the time to finish it tonight. I really like it. I haven't had many complaints about the dumb AI. The only time it sucked was when I was trying to run around a brute. My teammates followed me and the brute followed them which didn't help at all.

I'm really looking forward to playing co-op with some people online. If anyone wants to play the campaign with me next week (I'm away until Thursday), shoot me a PM.

I think I might prefer Revenge of the Fallen's gameplay mechanics just a tad more. It was a little more complex and you had more melee moves. Like doing a charge attack right when you come out of your transformation, the ground pound and of course you actually had a melee button, that actually let you do combos instead of being a one hit attack.

Sure, I prefer in WfC that we don't constantly have to move when transformed and we can actually strafe, but IMO RotF's mechanics just give you more options. For a mediocre movie tie-in, it actually had pretty solid mechanics with a good multiplayer.

I chose to hold off on this, mainly do to me thinking that once I beat it there would not be much to come back to and I knew from the start that the multiplayer would not have as big as a crowed as for example Halo. I think I will grab Singularity though. It looks nice but I have not seen any threads for it yet.

My only complaint is that I have had a real hard time getting a connection to a game of MP. I connect after 3-4 tries and that gets real annoying fast, but once connected, it is a lot of fun.

To be fair, i have not tried the campaign yet. However basing it just on the multiplayer... i say either rent it or wait for the price to go down.

Do i hate it? No. But its just alright. I'm SURE the story is going to be fun. I just hate jumping into story modes because i fly through them lol.

If i can add the ranking system to the multiplayer of Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. That would be the best transformers game. The controls in that game were the best in the Transformer's list of games.

But like Kalel says. The connection to the games suck. Then when the host leaves, everyone is kicked instead of reconnecting to a new host. And you can spend 15 minutes till you finally get into a game that last

Anyone here got any advice how to defeat the last boss of Autobot campaign?
