Transformers: The War for Cybertron

LOL.

Well my first real exposure to Transformers was the movies. Iv tried to go back and watch the old cartoons but they are just too corny for my tastes. I just prefer the models from the films and prefer it to be set on earth. The whole time i was playing the demo i was looking for the ability to transform into a Camaro.

I hear ya. I've tried to watch the old G1 cartoons but they're typical 80's cartoons. Check out Beast Wars. I grew up on that, it's awesome and has held up really well. It touches on the G1 transformers, especially in later episodes.

Grew up with G1, tried to watch it again, but couldn't. It hasn't aged well at all.

I'd love a Beast Wars game.

I want to serve The Royalty!

I have all 3 seasons of beast wars saved on my ps3, love that show, didn't care too much for beast machines however

Get it for the PS3. The cover looks better with the PS3 logo at the top.

Well, I meant to say "I'm tempted to switch my order to the PS3" I have it paid off already....so, it will just be a simple switch.

I got this game earlier today at Sears, I'd suggest checking your local one. I've read that Sears put the game on the shelves early all over the place. I'm about half way through the Decepticon story, so far its all really good and effin awesome. The jets control alot better than what I was expecting.

Yeah, G1 Transformers is an incredibly stupid cartoon if you try to go back and watch it without that childish sense of awe at the mere fact that it has giant robots who turn into vehicles.

Beast Wars, on the other hand, is still quite entertaining because it has a strong character focus and really good writing most of the time.

Beast Wars has it's silly moments with Megatron and the rubber ducky, but most of it really is written well. That really is something I have no problem re-watching.

To be fair, later episodes of season 2 and a lot of season 3 of G1 were well written. But, yeah, without a doubt - Beast Wars was and still is really good. Still my favorite.

Yeah, G1 got better when the story of every episode ceased to be "Decepticons try to steal Earth's resources for energon; Autobots stop them." But G1 never really reached the heights of Beast Wars to me. I mean, come on, Dinobot's death? The Transmutate? When I was younger (I was in middle school, I think, when Beast Wars was on), I didn't even realize cartoons could have such touching episodes. Beast Wars, Batman: The Animated Series, and Gargoyles are the cartoons that proved to me they could be just as good as live-action TV shows.

still remember the name of that episode, "code of hero", I was glad to see that dinobot's clone returned to the good side in the last episode, though he sacrificed himself yet again, depth charge's and tigerhawk's deaths also hurt, just cuz they were so awesome and powerful

I was disappointed that Depth Charge and Tigerhawk weren't featured that much. But I loved the scene where the Predacons are attacking the Maximals in that cave the Ark was in and Depth Charge comes flying in to help.

Yeah, Depth Charge in particular had a nice, conflicted relationship with the other Maximals. I liked how he started out as a far more militant guy who considered Optimus and his exploration crew little more than nerds who couldn't get the job done.

Depth Charge was awesome - aside from Dinobot, he was my favorite. That final battle with Rampage was amazing, definently top 5 moment there. Same with Dinobot's death.

Definently agree that Beast Wars was one of those shows that can remain timeless, being good when watched by kids and adults. One thing Beast Wars did that G1 kinda failed to do til the end was have more than one villain. I mean, aside from the fact that different predacons became "main villains" as the show went on (like Tarantulus and Rampage, as oppossed to just fighting Megatron), they had other forces and villains like the aliens and such that kept the show interesting.

Oh man, Tarantulas revealing himself as a Decepticon spy was one of my absolute favorite moments in the series. I loved how the Preds kept fracturing into different factions--Dinobot leaves to join the Maximals, Terrorsaur constantly tried to overthrow Megatron, Inferno would follow literally no one but Megatron, Blackarachnia became very self-interested and then fell in love with Silverbolt, Tarantulas turned out to be a spy, Rampage was a total X-factor a lot of the time, etc. Any time someone claims the Maximals, a group of scientists (and Rattrap, who struck me as kind of like the Jack Bauer of the Maximals--super-spy who wanted out but the game kept pulling him back in), could never have dealt with a military genius like Megatron so effectively, I just point out the rampant internal strife among the Predacons, as befits their nature. :)

Yeah, good point, Corp. The maximals were definently rookie fighters - but at least they worked together. Plus, as the show went on, they did get some tactical support from the likes of Dinobot and Depth Charge.

And all of them except Silverbolt and Rhinox got newer, Transmetal forms. Megatron and Tarantulas were the only Predacons that did, IIRC.

I loved that Rattrap was basically the badass of the team. The tiniest, least optimistic smartass turns out to single-handedly bring down one of the most advanced Predacon ships, infiltrate the enemy base successfully, take charge when Optimus is out of the game (and Rhinox is too busy doing SCIENCE!), etc. Rattrap is probably the main reason I ever even tried playing as the Demoman in Team Fortress Classic back in the day. :hehe:

I just got the game and I can't wait to play it tonight!!!:awesome::up: I would play it now but I don't want to get my friend in trouble for giving it to me early, they can track it back to her store, so I'll just wait until after midnight!!! No biggy, enjoy the game AUTOBOT SCUM, FOR IN THE END ONE SHALL STAND, ONE SHALL FALL, and it won't be me!!!:o:oldrazz::D:up:

I hate you! :argh: I have to wait till Friday. Thursday if I'm lucky.

Hold him off? I'll be standing next right to Megatron, stomping you in the face! :cmad:
