That was an excellent article.I'm really going to have to catch up on uprising. Seems to be getting a lot of praise.

Uprising is definitely worth checking out, if you guys like or love Batman Beyond then you'll have a great time.

Point 1, Encom being an EVIL Apple clone. Hilarious.

I always thought of Encom as Apple (currently) or Microsoft (from the 90's) ever since I saw the first Tron film. And I totally agree on Quorra being the most badass Disney Princess.

I enjoyed Legacy a fair amount. The only issue I had was the middle lagged for me. I hope they do make a sequel.

Oh, and Daft Punk's score was ****ing awesome.

Daft Punk's score is on my workout mix. It's surprisingly effective. But, yeah, I think the movie is unfairly hated. I love it. The article hit on so many of the things that appeal to me. I actually finally watched the 1982 movie for the first time the other weekend. It's very easy to understand how it was inhibited by the technology to make the movie, and I can respect that people like it. For me, it took several attempts and the whole weekend to finally watch the thing. Boring as hell. The story is fine, but it lacks a lot of spice in the script.

The one thing I appreciate about Tron, if you watch The Pixar Story (great documentary, by the way), is that it helped pave the way VFX companies like ILM. John Lasseter, who helped with sequences on that film, took an interest in computer animation afterwards, and that led him to help found Pixar a little later on.

So basically: no Tron, no Pixar/ILM.

My point was that putting evil in front of apple was redundant.:hehe:

Apologies if you had already gotten what I meant, though.

^Ah I see.

The Brevard County Sheriff's Tron Light Cycle

BREVARD - The Brevard County Sheriff's Office is on the path to creating stronger prevention and community programs with a futuristic gift they received Sept. 22 from Melbourne-based business and reality TV stars Parker Brothers Concepts.

The fully electric, futuristic motorcycle, complete with blue lights and a siren, resembles motorcycles featured in the 2010 film, "Tron Legacy."

The one-of-a-kind vehicle, which is valued at more than $50,000 and is capable of exceeding speeds of 100 mph, will be used locally to initiate conversations between deputy sheriff's officers and youth about a variety of public safety issues.

"We are blessed as a community that Parker Brothers Concepts decided to relocate to Brevard County," said Brevard County Sheriff Jack Parker, in a press release. "One of the very few things they did after opening their new building was to start finding ways to benefit the Brevard community."

Brothers Marc and Shanon Parker started Parker Brothers Choppers - now known as Parker Brothers Concepts - more than three years ago, after creating their version of the "Batpod," Batman's futuristic vehicle seen in Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Trilogy."

The brothers' imagination grew, and they began working on a motorcycle, similar to the one donated to the Sheriff's Office, called the "Xenon." The Xenon was the first tangible, street-legal bike created to look identical to the virtual Tron Light Cycle.

After the creation of the Xenon, the brothers started to attract several big-named customers, including Shaquille O'Neal, rapper 50 Cent and WWE wrestler John Cena.

The Brothers eventually landed a television series deal with Syfy called "Dream Machines." The show aired its first season and will soon air its second this spring.

Jeff Halverson, managing director and the Parker Brother's contact for celebrity clientele, said the donation of the bike to the Brevard County Sheriff's Department is part of a plan to build and donate a bike to the Boys and Girls Club of Central Florida to help raise money for a new facility in Cocoa.

"If you look at all of the Boys and Girls Clubs around the state, there are 22 locations in Orlando and only 2 in Brevard County," Mr. Halverson said. "We are giving back to the community. Our biggest passion is the children and helping at-risk youth. We have been fortunate enough and blessed enough to be able to do this."

Mr. Halverson said the bike donated to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office will help children see police officers in a friendly and positive way.

"It shows that the police are there to help them if there is ever an issue, and, hopefully, it will deter youth-crime," he said. "When I was a kid, it wasn't cool to be seen with the police. Hopefully, this will change that perception."

Mr. Halverson said the shop takes pride in helping Brevard County out in financial ways, as well.

"We try to make everything in Brevard County if we can," he said. "We don't outsource any of the work it takes to create our vehicles. We hire and contract here. On average, we keep 85 percent of our revenue in Brevard County."

Parker Brothers Concepts is located at 2335 Aurora Road in Melbourne.

The Bruce Boxleitner and Cindy Morgan panel from Dallas Scifi Expo is on youtube in full if you look up
Dallas Comic Con - Sci-Fi Expo 2013 - Tron

It's definitely worth checking out.

It's something but I hope Disney makes a official announcement of Tron 3 soon. (probably after Oblivion opens)

WonderCon 2013: Director Joseph Kosinski Updates on ‘TRON: Legacy’ Sequel and ‘The Black Hole’ Remake
Gig Patta said:
Kosinski confirmed that the sequel is still in the works. This is what he said at the roundtable:

“We’ve been working on the story for four years now. The first draft, [in which] Jesse Wigutow is writing it, is supposed to come in the next couple of weeks so the idea we have is really exciting. It has to be pretty exciting enough to get everyone back together. Those are pretty hard movies to make. Legacy was almost three years. We got a really exciting idea for it. As long as the script can kind of deliver on that—the interest is there on the studio side. It’s going to have enough creative juices to have in order to dive back in. We got some exciting ideas—so we’ll see.”

As for “The Black Hole” remake, it’s still in development. It would be the remake of Walt Disney’s 1979 pic about a missing ship on the edge of a black hole.

“I’ve got Black Hole in development as Disney. And the TRON sequel,” he confirmed.

Hmm... I hope Wigutow delivers. 8 Mile had great critical reception but "It Runs in the Family" was horrible.

Black Hole was one of those semi-bombs that has become a cult thing. I wouldn't care if they rebooted it.

^^
yeah, I like how this 1979 film looked like it was made in the 50'/60', it was very old school next to Star Wars 1977.

Director Joseph Kosinski Talks TRON 3; Two Weeks Away from Draft With “Much Broader Appeal,” Still Working on Title
Christina Radish said:
Question: Does it feel like there really will be another TRON and that Disney wants that to happen?

JOSEPH KOSINSKI:
Yeah, it absolutely does. I think I’m two weeks away from getting the draft. This is a story we’ve been working on since 2009, so that’s four years now. I’m really excited about the idea that we have for it. I think it delivers on the promise that both TRON movies have made. It opens the movie up, in a way that I think is going to give it a much broader appeal. Whereas TRON really, ultimately, in the end, catered most to TRON fans, this idea broadens it some more, in really exciting ways. But, it’s all about the script and making sure that that story is compelling enough to get all of us back together. Those movies are hard to make. It’s a two-and-a-half to three-year journey. So, to go back in there and go back to the Grid, it’s going to have to be a pretty spectacular script. We’ve got a great writer on it, so we’ll see.

Does it have a title that’s not just TRON 3?

KOSINSKI:
It has a working title, yeah. TR3N will be our code name. We have an idea, but nothing is set in stone yet. We have some exciting ideas.

The script for Legacy was solid. I hope for better character development this time around (other than Quorra, the characters weren't memorable) but Legacy was very enjoyable. I adored the visuals and soundtrack.

Same here. They better make it happen soon.

Looking forward to hearing more about it, liking the noises about the script as well.
