Tron Legacy Sequels

Yeah they are.
Lets not forget Pixar and their own animation studio. Frankly, they can take a bomb or 10. And they make a few small ones every year. But they like to do the big ones sparingly. If they weren't risking money with PotC 5 and Alice 2, I'd think they do Tron 3.

You're a Tron girl Snow?

I wouldn't go that far, but I enjoyed them. They're not great films and Legacy really needed another rewrite but they're fun. And I think the occasional non-franchise focused just fun movie is nice to have. Of course, it would be part of a franchise, but each of the films don't feel like they're just trying to set up the next movie, you know? I just hoped we'd get another fun movie, hopefully with less issues than Legacy. Plus I wanted to go watch it film. :oldrazz:

You know I have love for you Queen.

Darth is right, B&R is a great watch
.
You know when you hear people talk about movie magic, things just coming together? Like Julia Roberts getting the lead in Pretty Woman. Batman and Robin is just like that. Horrible, yet incredibly fun to watch.

I get you completely. I also agree with your general assessment of the first two films.

Right, I don't hate it at all. It is a magical sort of bad film.

B&R needs those 'POW' and 'KABLAM!' bubbles, which would make it more fun. It's essentially a big neon-tinted version of the 1960s Adam West series, minus the tongue-in-cheek aspect.

I'd say it has plenty of the same tongue-in-cheek aspect. The bat card, and a majority of the puns are a good example imo.

Oh god I forgot all about Alice 2. Why does that need to exist?

It is a pretty great toy commercial.

As an actual fan of the first, I do not know. Can it possibly come close to the first film in terms of box office? I think Pirates will live on the OS market, but Alice 2? There is no Avatar 3D wave to ride.

This is why I think it is a risk, and why other films are getting cut.

My mother can attest to this. :funny:

I suspect Tomorrowland was behind this.

This is my guess as well. So ultimately we can pin this on Lindelof and his crappy Tomorrow Land script. I wish they would just boot him and his convoluted BS plots out of Hollywood.

At least POTC 5 is already filming so they can't cancel that too.

Disney needs to sell Tron to another studio instead of just letting the property set on a shelf gathering dust.

That's kind of mean to the fans, announcing something then cancelling it weeks later.

No one "announced" anything. The film was never officially announced by Disney -- it was "in development" and had an eye to shoot in the Fall in Vancouver, but Disney never officially said "let's make this movie"...and now they decided to pull the plug.

This "scheduling" thing is definitely a cover, though...and the timing following Tomorrowland's weekend disappointment can't be coincidental.

And it's weird now because Mia is now 25.
She still has a lot of that youthfulness in her face imo, but yeah, she is noticeably older. Not a young girl anymore. More, young woman.

What a disappointment. :( Cancel Tim Burton's Dumbo film if there's no room. lol

That would have been the one I did cancel. On Stranger Tides just killed the franchise for me. A bad film and no Keira. What is the point!?!?!?!

Though, Kaya is now on board...

While I had mixed feelings about Legacy, I'd take this over Burton's Dumbo as well...but the simple fact is Burton's films have a far better batting average (i.e. they make consistently good money for their investment) than Kosinski's or any of Legacy's stars' (Hedlund, Wilde, even Bridges) other films have thus far.

Urgh I have a bad feeling about that one. :funny:
Bad in that it will suck? Burton seems to still get the dark child fare. I think it could work out, though I am not particularly looking forward to it. Now his next film with Eva, Asa and Ella. That is a different story.

At least Orlando is coming back.

Disney would never have cancelled POTC over Tron. POTC has the bigger box office history. The POTC franchise has made $3.7 billion compared to Tron's $400 million. It wasn't even a contest.

Burton is 9/10 a miss for me. I think I'd like Big Fish, though I haven't seen it, and I liked Big Eyes quite a bit and love Nightmare Before Christmas (though he didn't direct it, his fingerprints are all over it of course) but most of time his films just don't click with me. Especially his re-imaginings of source material like with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Planet of the Apes, Alice in Wonderland, Batman 89 and Batman Returns.
