Tron Legacy Sequels

At least Orlando is coming back.

Disney would never have cancelled POTC over Tron. POTC has the bigger box office history. The POTC franchise has made $3.7 billion compared to Tron's $400 million. It wasn't even a contest.
Yeah, but Orlando was by far the worst thing about the original trilogy. Well that and the insane writing of 2 and 3.

Burton is 9/10 a miss for me. I think I'd like Big Fish, though I haven't seen it, and I liked Big Eyes quite a bit and love Nightmare Before Christmas (though he didn't direct it, his fingerprints are all over it of course) but most of time his films just don't click with me. Especially his re-imaginings of source material like with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Planet of the Apes, Alice in Wonderland, Batman 89 and Batman Returns.
I do not begrudge your views of his Batman. I grew up with them, I love them. Batman Returns is the first film I remember seeing in theaters. But yeah, they have problems, especially post-Nolan.

Have you ever watched Ed Wood, Beetlejuice, and Edward Scissorhands? Three great films imo. Sweeney Todd, Pee-wee, Frankenweenie and Corpse Bride are also all great imo.

Side note. I swear my love for Keira comes from Edward Scissorhands. Keira looks just like Winona Ryder in that film. It is kind of freaky.

I liked him in the first three. I thought the trio played off each other well. So I'm very happy he is returning for DMTNT.

Geez one mild flop and Disney run scared? It's not like they don't own the ****ing universe already and don't have any money. They could have 10 flops in a row and they wouldn't blink and eye. Marvel and SW will give them cash for a while, was this movie that much of a risk? It would have broken even for sure. First you kill Uprising and now this, thanks a ****ing million Disney. You could show some balls like you used to. Now if a movie doesnt make a billion bucks its a flop, its really an insane market at the moment

I like the Bloom, Depp and Knightley trio as well. The first Pirates is a classic imho and I thought the sequel was entertaining but after that the series can go **** itself.

Ed Wood no, Beetlejuice it's been many years and Edward Scissorhands I have no. I have seen Sweeney Todd, but it just wasn't clicking for me. Maybe I'll try it again someday. I did like Frankenweenie, I forgot about that one. I vaguely remember Corpse Bride, but mostly just a song from it. :funny:

Searching up photos, I can see that. :funny:

I understand Disney investing money in Bird. It makes no sense with Kosinski. His rep has just gotten worse since the first film.

Which is a shame. The guy knows how to make a gorgeous looking movie, but man he cannot make a script work great for the life of him.

I liked him in the first one. The next two, I thought he was just bad. He couldn't bring any of the darkness the role was asking from him. He couldn't take the character places the way Hamill did with Luke. Though to be fair, Elizabeth is the "Luke" of the series.

I like AWE more then DMC. AWE just loses it mind, in a rather fun way imo.

Bird is a great filmmaker and his first live action film was a well reviewed hit so I can understand so yes, you bet on Brad Bird.

I hate Kosinski...as a filmmaker, he might be a very nice fella for all I know. If they make another Tron film I hope he isn't the director. Oblivion was the last straw for me.

It really is. And its a well known problem in the industry. The profit margins on blockbusters are razor thin and getting smaller. The budgets keep going up, now well over $200m, to live up to audience expectations but the box office is not rising fast enough to keep up.

They are basically stuck with making mega-blockbusters and hoping they all crack a billion or making really low budget movies. The middle class (as in real life) has been pushed out. They already took a pretty big risk on Legacy and it didn't pay off. So this isn't really that surprising.

Well, I'd watch those first three. Those are the films which make it impossible for me to quit Burton. Sleepy Hollow is another fun one I forgot.

And yeah, it is crazy. They are the same girl. :funny:

It is a shame. Guy has an eye, but he is a poor storyteller. Like really poor. Knows how to cast though. Especially in terms of female leads. :hrt:

SPIDEY's devil post.

Will do. Except Sleepy Hollow. That falls under the Burton movies I don't like. :oldrazz:

 That pretty much sums him up. Wilde I think is actually pretty underrated in Legacy. That character in general, from what I recall (though it has been a while), was quite well handled despite the rest of the messiness.

Wilde is by far my favorite part of Legacy, even with Bridges and Sheen killing it. The character is simple, but she brought a lot of life to it. Also, being a simply character, she was hard to mess up from a director's pov.

But I'm just an innocent little flower. :halo:

Olivia Wilde was great in Tron Legacy. It is a shame that she has had the best and worst luck ever career wise, because she's gorgeous, charming and can act.

And yeah, Wilde has a combination of bad luck and a bad agent. Woman has it all, and look what she gets stuck with.

Yep its a sad reality for the movie business at the moment. I won't say legacy was a classic but it was visually stunning and a great soundtrack and interesting concepts that resonate in today's world. But as you day movies cost 200 million to make and it leaves no room for riskier things. And we won't see Olivia in that suit again, a shame a god damn shame that woman is stunning. This franchise can never get a break man, it's really sad

I'm really hoping Marvel or DC or some other big franchise will pick her up one day so she can finally get that break she deserves.

sad..... I think TRON had a future.

It wasn't even a flop at the box office. UGH!!

It's sad that nowadays that is the only way for an actor or actress to get a break. Begin part of this cinematic universes. I wished she continued her character and didn't relay on those franchises but its seems that in the current market its the only way to get really noticed

It didn't made marvel levels of cash. Brake even is not enough now a days. Your have to make aou money or they wont even look you in the eyes it would seem
