I know but....i think the show will be in danger of getting too bloated if they overload it with supernaturals. I mean i'm not against them or anything i like how the show's central focus is vampires and their integration into modern society. I havent read the books but i hear it goes pretty off the deep end in the later books.

Well, one of the running themes of the books is how, while the vampires put on one face to try and integrate into the public, but there's another they keep from it and they're only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the supernatural world, which has been hiding from the public and is a world of its own.

True Blood is an American television series based on the Southern Vampire Mysteries books by Charlaine Harris and adapted for television by Alan Ball. The series is produced by HBO in association with Ball's own production company, Your Face Goes Here Entertainment.[1]
The show details the fictional co-existence of vampires and humans in a small Louisiana town after Japanese-made synthetic blood – "TruBlood" – becomes available for purchase. Anna Paquin stars as Sookie Stackhouse, a telepathic waitress at a diner who falls in love with one of the vampires, Bill Compton (portrayed by Stephen Moyer).[1][2]
The show will premiere on September 7, 2008.[3]

Is anyone else as excited as I am about this series?

They've started just recently, actually. From interviews and such, they've at least worked on/finished at least one ep.
