Superman Returns Tune into Mtv NOW

the problem with the scene in the movie is that you have another scene at the end where he lift something tha tis a billion more tons than a plane and toss it past jupiter, not into space but past jupiter, do you know how far jupiter is. it is pure inconsistence of power

A scene where he is hopped up on Yellow Sun power, and has been in action again for a while. This here is his first extreme use of power in a long time. Nearly 6 years. He is bound to be rusty.

Besides he is catching something falling here. I different concept then attempting to lift something. An example. A Guy can bench 300 pounds pretty easy. Now have him attempt to catch it going 500 miles pre hour. I doubt he is going to pull that off.

I'm throwing my hat in with this lot...It's like in the comics right now...when he first came back his powers were/are rusty so it stands to reason that this would be the case here, hence making it harder to stop the plane than if he'd been back for a year rather than mere weeks. :supes:

Aren't we dealing with a pretty much depowered Superman upon his return?

Yeah but he has been around at least a week. Under the yellow sun his powers will come back.

Granted but he is weaker and what not? I don't know, just throwing things into the wind.

The scene with his dog seems to imply that he gets back to his level really quickly.

The scene with his dog? I don't know what kind of movie you are talking about buddy.

Superman wasn't struggling in that scene. He was just wondering what he should do.

Stopping the plane is not just about strength, if he were to stop it too quickly everyone on board is dead, the thing will collapse or disintegrate. He needs to slow it down at a pace that won't kill everyone inside but at the same time to stop it before it hits the ground. That's why he grabs the wing first to slow it down, it breaks off so he moves a better vantage point.

That is much different than tossing a crystal land mass into space.

Just my thoughts on it

Exactly

That's why he spent quite a while just holding on to the plane. He was considering how he should handle it.

QUESTION!:

The superman preview that you're all rambling about, is that WITHIN the mtv movie awards-show!???? Is that the way the show starts up? So they're not doing a spoof on the movie, but they're showing a special preview from the movie???

The reason I want to know, is because I, for exsample, lives in Denmark, and even though the show they air is the same, many things before the show AREN'T.. so if you were to tell me that the preview happens within the show it self, than I'm a lot more calm:)

i like how everyone here is making excuses, and saying he was thinking what he should do, utter bull, if he wanted to stop the plane . h eshoul dflying in grab the tail to level it it out from the tail spin, then fly forward and slow it down gradually, instead of grabbing the wing.

well now YOU are making excuses as to why he should've easily been able to stop the plane.

and i'm sure stopping a plane that's miles above Earth is as easy as the excuse you just made up.

Here's an angle I haven't seen discussed yet, don't believe it to be true, just throwin' it out there as a possibility.

We know or assume it is very possible that Clark learns of the plane disaster in Bibbo's bar. Supposedly Clark is there in part because he is somewhat despondent over Lois' new life after Superman. Is it possible then that Big Blue is FUI (Flying Under the Influence) when he attempts the rescue of the plane, hence the sloppy rookie mistakes.

Heh Heh. I love how some are saying he was thinking, others rusty, I am saying he was depowered, now you are talking about how he should have approached it differently. What are we talking about?

lol...that's a funny theory, but i don't think Supes's tolerance for alcohol is limited to 1 or 2 drinks, hehe.

though.....i might be wrong.

So you have done that huh. Your the real superman I see. If you read the D^^n novel you would see he was thinking on what to do.

Singer has said that SR would explore how Superman's strength would be employed in a "real physics" type environment. For me the plane rescue is an example of this exploration.

Well he did have 8 or 9 beers. And he definitly felt buzzed.

Kryptonite, magic, and Budwheiser?

oh yeah? i didn't know that....did it say that in the novelization or somn?

I like how Thunder Emperor is once again the guy to bash something about SR. :O

That sequence has Singers fingerprints all over it......It seems to me he's simply making it a little harder for Supes to do everything without breaking a sweat.

I hope that I'll buy that idea that Superman can lift an entire continnent and toss it into space.

I made me wonder about this: If Superman can hear everything that's happening on Earth when he's floating a space (seen in the trailers and on the poster), why can't he listen in to Luthor? Or did I miss something?

A little experiement, take 50 radios and switch them all on simultanously, listen and tell me afterwards what one specific anchorman said. :)

Lex probably gets drowend out by all the cries for help.
