Twilight of Asgard: the SURTUR thread

He had me giggling.

His dialogue was PERFECT. I've had a few drinks with an out of state friend tonight so the impulse to swear is extreme right now. All of his lines were so *freaking* perfect.. I saw it tonight again and was giggling like a *freaking* child.

right after his transformation where he is shown from the waste up and given his flame color, and the background,
it was RIGHT from the comics

I love Thor but Surtur in all his glory was my most anticipated part of this film. His demeanor was golden.

Hela was SOO powerful. She could solo the entire Avengers squad with Hulk and Thor and Surtur was literally monologuing and laughing as she attacked him.

"Asgard, I am your reckoning"

She could solo them most due to her durability, offensively she doesn't seem too far above Thor.

I want to reiterate, I love this take on Surtur. Surtur, the none character. The Sheev Palparine. One dimensiomal to a Tee.

But it works for Surtur because that's all he needs to be. A destructive self fulfilling prophecy with childish self aware dialogue, embodied as a force of nature.

His sole purpose was to destroy Asgard.

Weakened, tells Thor his purpose is to destroy Asgard at the beginning of the movie. Disregards Thor's jokes.

Hela is OP taking over Asgard. THE antagonist and threat of the story.

Surtur doesn't give a ****! He's busy talking about how awesome he is as he destroys Asgard...LAUGHS at puny Hela and nukes Asgard. Ladies and gentlemen, the (literally) most accurate one dimensional villain I have ever seen in a CBM. His demeanor of not giving a **** about Hela, or Hulk was hilarious. Hulk interrupted his self gloating and he was treated like a mosquito, hela was treated like a baby with a butter knife lololol

I'm on board 100% bro, you're right Sutur is never meant to be a layered villain with deep motivations. He's supposed to be a force of nature with one goal, annihilation.

He was portrayed as just that in the film, he is definitely the most accurate MCU villain to date.

Yep, yep, yep! All of this is true.

And for those who said the effects were average at best in this one, they obviously didn't pay close enough attention to Surtur

That was my favorite women's MMA fighter, that's what made the Garbrandt lost that happened next even worse.

Surtur was truly the MAN Jaqua, definitely one of the hight points of the film for me.

He was just perfect.

I loved all of Surtur's scenes. I had been looking forward to seeing him in a Thor movie, and I finally got it. He looked great and sounded great, and had some cool action scenes that looked like they came straight out of the comics.
