Tyler Mane won't be back as Sabretooth.

If this is true, then I'm sure it's a good decision.

Tyler Mane cannot be completely blamed for how tame Sabretooth was in X-Men; but I'm delighted they aren't going down the mindless henchman route for this movie, and are bringing in a different actor. That being said, I hope they gave the guy a chance to audition for the role.

Darn, I'd have hope he would've returned for continuity's sake at least.

I dont think there was any reference to Logan knowing him in X1 - was there? I assume they are going to have over-the-top foes for Jackman unless they are just going to do a Jason-Bourne-with-claws thing.

it wouldnt matter if he knew him or not before x1, a simple mind wipe would happily place them back into continuity.

That's too bad, I liked him in that role. I'm definitely in the minority here, but I liked X-Men's Sabretooth.

Well he WAS pretty curious about his dog tags. I figured that was a clue or at least a nod.

This has been posted before.

The reason is they want to go in a different direction with the character.

LOL a wolverine movie without Sabretooth...double LOL for hollywood.

yeah but he didn't remember his origins remember? he's been doing the drifter thing for years trying to remember his past.

I would have liked Mane for continuity. Then again, it won't be too hard to make someone look like his Sabretooth. Also, it would have been nice for him to redeem himself and really create a character out of his portrayal.

Yeah. It was pretty obvious that they had a history. It stands to reason that Sabretooth's memory would be just as unreliable as Logan's; he was attracted to the dog tags but probably didn't know why.

Ummm,...are there any other actors out there as big as Mane that can actually act? I'm not sure about this...

im stil wondering how sabertooth would fit into this prequel. of i remember correctly, wasnt logan unaware of who 'it' was? and didnt he say,''whats a sabertooth?' i know hes a big part of wolverines origin but i dont get how he would fit in now.

^ He fits in prior to Wolverine's amnesia...

Right. In X1, Wolverine didn't really remember anything. So, it'll work within continuity to make Sabretooth a part of his past in the films (which they had better, considering their big history together in the comics.)

Andrew Bryniarski could be Sabertooth.
He has already played Lobo in the "Lobo Paramilitary XMas Special". He is about 6'5", and a former bodybuilder. That only puts him about two inches taller than Jackman, but that is what you deal with when you cast a man a foot taller than the character he is playing...

Even though Jackman's a lot taller than Wolverine is, you still need to make him look smaller compared to the baddies that are supposed to tower over him. And two inches doesn't really equate to "towering over."

I know. With Jackman being as tall as he is, it puts him in a pretty high percentile for actors, and it's going to be tough to find anyone who is going to make him look small. I don't really get the feeling the production is that worried about making him look small. There was no effort to do it in the X-Men movies, so I don't see them trying it now...
Meh, they could go with another wrestler *sigh*. There are a several around the 6'8" range, and sufficiently muscular to get the job done...
