U.N approves Sending 26,000 troops to Darfur

It's kind of a damned if you do, damned if you don't...

We go, and it's just another instance of the U.S. meddling in other country's affairs. We don't, and we're not using our resources and giving the nations the help they need.

It's not about "helping a nation" as much as it's about stopping the on going genocide.

And I don't see how the Bush supporters can be against this. They were all about "liberating" Iraqis, giving them "freedom". Why not stop genocide of people in Darfur? Isn't that much more urgent?

The United States has a tendency of being the U.N. lackey. Again, look at Somalia...

Woop-dee-****ing-do. Some things need to be done, Kritish. There's a mass genocide that's gone on basically unchecked for a few years now in Darfur. Even if we're not being guided by a modern-day Napoleon, it's still going to improve the situation, and the opposition will be the Janjaweed, an actual army.

It's not often I'll support military action, but this needs to happen. Quit trying to show everyone how you're smarter than them and admit that.

ahhhhh!
but in this case the "medling"would be warranted, infact needed.
I think some of you people have it all wrong when it comes to the world and you.

there's a ton of places that need help and seeing as how your government gets all jittery every time any nation other than their closest BFF's try and build their army.
I guess it's kind of up to the people with all the neat toys and guns to do something about ****.
do I think that the US alone should do that?
nah, how about a "coalition of the willing" with many nations doing the deed, and perhaps not trying to feed of the carcass of the dying nation they are supposed to be protecting or whatever?
perfect world scenario or what?

I don't approve in meddling in other counties affairs unless they're a threat. I don't care how bad they're acting.

There is tons of mass genocide and atrocious in various pockets of the world. Sorry, I don't think it's our job to stop all of it.

this just in.
fire department approves use of bucket of water on year-long forest fire.

yay!!!!
hahaha so true. And the sad part of this is that the only reason the UN is probably doing anything is because its getting so much publicity. If only Bono were around during East Timor. :csad:

So if Japan never attacked Pearl Harbor and we found out about the Holocaust we should've stood by and watched?

we might as well carry out the genocide ourselves..

yeah, it's not like you go around liberating countries and ****! :cmad:
I mean, it's like they expect to "lead the free world" or something!
damn darfurian n00bs!!!

I didn't say I agreed with that either.

It's crap like this that makes me want me to move to Switzerland...

Hitler was a legitimate threat, looming over England, about to take over the whole f***ing western hemisphere....not remotely the same thing.

I'm not saying you did.
I'm saying ( more like sarcastically implying) that your government does.
and routinely meddles in other countries affairs.
whether asked to or not.

the problem here is that this is not about the US doing something.
the civilized world should be doing something.
all of us, not one country or another, instead of focusing on who gets to screw who, we should all be trying to help each other.

Should we just sit by and let these things happen? Darfur is the most prevalent genocide at the moment (and it's sad that I can say that). I don't see a good reason, after all the other stupid **** we've done lately, we can't be involved with a project that actually means something.

Damned if we don't? I just don't see Darfur being much of a problem to us...sorry to promote selfishness here but it's true.

I meant to say in the eyes of the world we're being selfish and apathetic.

As far as general policy goes...isolationism is something I used to advocate. The reason I don't anymore, is that it'd make my job damn boring.

There's going to be genocide in Africa and the middle east, it's not our job to be the crusades of the world. If you're so pro-save Darfur why don't you join the UN military?

why are both Africa and The Middle East so unstable?
read their history and they both share one thing.
look at the way that MANY countries used them, look at the way they created divisions amongst them and subsequently played these divisions against each other for their gain.

Ok so if Germany never planned to invade another country and Americans knew about the Holocaust it would've been fine to stand by and watch?

We're not the one's who are killing people in Darfur.

Cuz I'd be a ****ty soldier. If you think you know how the US should be interacting with the world, why don't you get into politics?
