U.N approves Sending 26,000 troops to Darfur

Cuz I'd be a ****ty soldier. If you think you know how the US should be interacting with the world, why don't you get into politics?

I never once said that the US shouldn't interact with nations, I just favor neutrality like what Switzerland's doing.

I sure hope no one means to argue that the UN should sit back while innocent people are being slaughtered.

You go join.

What part of this is a UN operation, not a US one are you not getting. The article hasn't stated which country will send the majority of troops.

Chances are that due to America's capabilities bogged down in Afghanistan and Iraq, most of the peacekeepers will come from places such as France, Pakistan, Italy, etc.

Who do you think the UN will ask for help from when they realize they can't handle this?

You don't even try, do you? You base this off the assumption that the other nations that will be involved are going to be so inept that they will crawl to us for help, and we're going to send some massive force over, which should apparently contain everyone who wanted to see a resolution to the genocide. Go write for Limbaugh.

I'm sure that most normal militarizes could take care of the situation. But the UN Peace keeper force has a bad history of getting its ass handed to it. Oh and, I hate the neo-con bastard known as Limbaugh.

Well I for one, don't approve of wars that I wouldn't fight in myself voluntarily.
With the exceptions that you wouldn't meet the age, psyche or physical requirements.

I'm not saying I approve of any war. I approve of the action being taken to stop the senseless bloodshed, which was long overdue.

I wish the damn media would tell us what the hell the fighting between Darfur and Sudan is about anyways. 200,000 people died as a result of the conflict. Well what is the conflict over?

And will involvement curb genocide or add fuel to the flames? With the little information I have to go on, I say stop the genocide, but I'd like to know more, to help me make a more informed opinion.

You think that the UN is going to stop the crap in Darfur with hugs and kisses. Violence is all that those rebels will understand...

Of course. I meant by any means necessary.:o

Now see, I try to avoid hypocrisy as much as possible. I would have fought in world war two, I would have fought in the battle of Thermopylae. But I wouldn't fight to save some rat ass country that I can't even find on a map. So I'm not going to be like a typical politician and send off troops to die for something I wouldn't do the same for. So unless you're some cripple who wouldn't be worth anything in combat anyways you've got to right to approve for a war you wouldn't join.

You're calling yourself a coward or me a coward?

It'd be me since I fit what you described as someone who supported military action but not wanting to participate in it. Of course I don't have any military training, I'm not a UN soldier, and although I think what's happening there is horrifying, my own life and interests are more important right now than those of other people. Thankfully we have people who are ready and willing to fight so I don't even have to worry much about that crap. :yay:

Don't support a war you wouldn't fight in yourself or people will call you on your crap. :cwink:

Nah, I'm happy supporting the lives of other people being risked for a cause I believe in.

LOL, what kind of lame argument is this?

Its the equivalent of someone saying "I think space travel is a great idea, we need to do more of it, but I'd never become an astronaught myself" and someone else shouting "HYPOCRITE!!!!"

What the ****, Kritish?

Another example, so you can grasp how full of holes your argument is.

I support the work of the RSPCA. Like most people do. I despise people that are cruel to animals. But I have zero interest in becoming a vet

I don't think that we should practice neutrality like Switzerland, but I do think that we should be taking a more isolationist role in our foreign affairs.

Who do you think the UN will ask for help from when they realize they can't handle this?

If the United States weren't bogged down in Iraq and Afghanistan, they would no doubtedly ask us for help. But we are so chances are that they won't.

Sad but true. That's why I think that this UN force is going to be the one just like Rwanda. They'll do very little to help and when it gets tough, they'll pull most of the peacekeepers out of harm's way.

Unfortunately, without the United States, the United Nations is one gigantic *****.

I tells ya what, Kritish. If I ever see you getting your ass kicked on the street, I'll just stay away if I'm not in any personal danger. Won't step in, won't call the cops, nothing. Just leave you to get beaten. Ya like that?
