Superman Returns Ugh! Watched STM then SR....

no, actually he has a valid point.
That's up for debate.. it's also nothing new. You don't just walk in and say "stalker lol" Calling Superman a stalker isn't valid criticism, it's childish hyperbole.

Brandons clark does remind of those stalker types to, he waits in the backround and spies on his victim [Lois]withou out her knowing his true intentions. He then spys on her outside her house. Also like alot of stalkers, he has no social life, and seemingly has not many friends.

How anyone can call him a stalker is beyond me. He didnt follow Lois around throughout the whole movie, he did it ONCE, for crying out loud because he had barely seen her in 5 years. He was looking in on a life he will never be able to have and in that scene i felt sorry for him.

the first time I saw the teaser trailer on a big screen, yeah, I did break down, but it wasn't the visuals or the scenes that made me break down, it was the music.
That's what I'm saying, man. That's the kind of love that lasts forever, bud. That's the kind of love that made me spend WAY too much money on Superman products this last year and starve for a week to I could hop a ferry and watch SR in IMAX. I also dyed my hair and purchased matching Kon-el T-shirts for me and my wife. My co-workers think I'm the biggest nerd in the zipcode...they're right.

Thats what its all about though isnt it, i'm glad you took it to the max it must have made your enjoyment of SR all the better.

^Surely. It was a fun experience but I'll admit I was a tad numb during the first theatrical encounter because I didn't actually realize and accept that I was indeed getting to watch a new Superman movie. I'd gone so long without one that I was beginning to think it was an impossibillity.

To me it was amazing, it was something from my childhood that I really enjoyed and got to relive. I thought I was going to experience this once before in 99, and I got Jar Jar Binks, Jake Lloyd, midichlorians, racial stereotypes and droid soldiers.

Strange, i found it a bit numb on first viewing also, but every viewing since, i have found it anything but numb!

it all comes down to personal taste, and for me, Singer missed the nail completely

^ 5,000 more posts saying the same and I bet we'll get the thing.

it's the truth in my eyes... and apparently to a lot of other people on here as well.

you're asking me if I'm kidding when I say IMO I think and other people on this forum think that Singer missed when he made this movie...

no, I'm not kidding.

I think it's pretty much 50/50 give or take as to if Singer did a good job or not.

My opinion on STM is that it is dated, and is flawed, but I still enjoy it. It's my childhood wrapped into a movie. It is the template as to which all superhero movies have looked to, and has been the movie as to which all superhero movies were compared to. I will never dimiss it.

What a mistake to watch STM and then SR.

It's the terrible plagiarism. Lois rescued from aircraft disaster, then faints, then Superman's 'statistically speaking'. And so on. Then i have to see the same things in SR. It just feels WRONG, especially since SR is essentially a new story and not a remake.

Some may call it 'homage', I call it horrid. Why in God's name did Bryan Singer take entire concepts and pieces of dialogue like this? It just feels stupid and shamelessly derivative.

I have to add that Marlon Brando's acting and dialogue at the start of STM were awesome. Even with the age of the movie and a slightly dated feel, there was pure emotion in those scenes. Wonderfully done.

Here's hoping for a lot more ORIGINALITY in the next Superman movie.

So I suppose X3 was a rip on X1 when Magneto said "You homosapiens and you're guns..."

It's called an homage, that's exactly what it is. Just because you don't like homages doesn't make it plagarism.

And yes, why do you feel the need to start a thread each and everytime you come to the same opinion that you had previous to starting yet another annoying thread?

And yet again we're in debates that are in other threads as well...

****ing pathetic.

there's a thin line between homage and rehash, and Singer clearly doesn't understand the differences between the two, because if he did, SR would be much less of a STM ripoff, and only drop small lines and whatnot from STM instead of basing the entire journey to STM...

Great...now both threads will be closed...

this reminds me of the "I hate" and "I like" suit threads...

no, he's just trying to make a point...
he said to him that it is pathetic to open a thread about something that was already talked about. then he opens a thread that he saw again the movie?

no, his point was that even though there are SR haters on this forum, there are still SR supporters on this forum. I respect his will to defend the movie, but I dont respect him when he calls someone who has a differing opinion as "f**king pathetic"...

ups i quoted hes wrong post :woot:

I still think that the Returns forum is split along the middle, I don't like to use the terms "hater" or "lover", but I think its 50/50.
