Ultimate Avengers 2 Review Thread!!

I don't know if this has been mentioned - but I'm not going to start a new thread about it.

LGF's marketing of this film is WAY off. This is NOT the first animated form of Black Panther. He appeared in the 90's Fantastic Four animated series' second season in an episode entitled Prey of the Black Panther.

You'd think these guys would do their research before going out and putting something into the marketing plan. Geez! :P
that was actually a classic ep, didn't he take out the whole team, or practically show he could take them out...

that second series of fantastic four was simply out of this world, talk about goign from the worst 90s series in the first season to the best in teh second, damn....

Good thing you put spoiler tags on that one. Didn't want to be spoiled to the fact that Thor does stuff.
Sometimes when you don't put spoiler tags, someone whines about being "spoiled". So I've learned to err on the side of caution because some fanboys usually can't be satisfied, and in no way understand being responsible for an action. :p

"Dude, I saw a spoiler in the title of a topic that is clearly stated to have spoilers! You're evil!"

Unless the price is VERY cheap, it's going to be a rent before buying

despite the nice action scenes of the first movie, Hulk lifting Thor's hammer, Thor without Cape helmet and proper hammer, and Cap without side-wings of any kind, it kinds of suck

They should have done Earth's Mightiest Heroes instead

Hopefully Marvel & Paramount are taking lessons from this for the live movies, because lately it’s only bad news and disappointments like FF and X3, and bad decisions like not having Henry Pym in the main Ant-Man role

I watched this tonight. UA2 was more of the same from UA1.

Fans of Thor and Hulk will be disappointed.

Thor wasn't onscreen enough once again. Bruce Banner didn't Hulk up until the end and even then you didn't see him do much (he was locked up for the whole movie). And Giant Man dies. :(

War Machine was awesome though.

I agree totaly with this. I've said the same thing myself, probably a million times. Why don't Marvel do something like the style of the Final Fantasy films or maybe Appleseed?

Anyway...I'm buying it. I bought the first one and I don't have the heart to break up the set.

Wow. That really sounds worse than the original. God I miss the 90s Spider-man show. Their animation may not have been up to par, but at least they could always tell a good story.

The first movie was mediocre, mediocrity is perhaps the worst type of art viewed, because it lacks any passion and just leaves you feeling like you just wasted a hour or two of your life, I will be passing on this and perhaps all of the Lion Gate animated features unless I hear extrodinarially good things.

I just went to the web-site to check out the features on the DVD, and man this thing looks bad. Particularly the feature called "gag reel" which is staged much like a Pixar gag reel...only not funny.
I'll definitely be renting only. In fact I'm thinking of selling the first one.

i enjoyed it

it did have many problems though

SPOILERS AHEAD

killing giant man was a SURPRISE
hank and janet are arguably the best characters in the film
seeing jarvis was nice
the war machine armor was super sweet
black panther was ok, i wasn't too familar witgh him, but he was cool
hulk was so under used
banner was cool though

this movie is much more violent than part 1
more murder
more blood
more death

like part 1 it was way too short

i didn't watch the first looks for doc strange or iron man yet or the other special features yet.

the movie works well

hopefully marvel will get the hang of this whole animated thing

feel free to ask more questions

I enjoyed it as well, but it's far from spectacular. It's only 73 minutes, so most of the characters still don't receive the screentime they deserve. There's some pretty good action scenes, as there were in the first, but the plot isn't too interesting, and the villains are mediocre at best.

6/10.

I thought the gag reel was actually pretty funny though. Iron Man sure loves ribs.

Well I for one am happy they kill off Giant man he was quickly becoming the wife beater Hank based on how he acted in UA1 and well better dead than that version of him at least IMO anyways.
Now if they were going to write him like Hank from the 70's the non wife beater one maybe I would care....ah well I guess I will have to see it before I decide if its worth buying.

I just watched it and it's pretty good. If you liked the first one you'll like this one. I hope they ditch the whole alien thing in the next one though, Enough is enough.

I saw it today and it rocked. I agreed with the whole alien thing. But I think they had to tied it up to a finishing conclusion. I am all for a full pledge series of this because movies are nice and all but I like to see more of it. Come on Marvel, forget the Fantastic Four and X-MEN. Avengers is the future. Animated series is great considering the Ultimates comics are going out to prints slower than it is being drawn.

I hated Ultimate Black Panther's costume. He looks like a joke and not imposing at all. Regular BP looks badass and scary....just like a real panther. :)

Which is weird cause I like all the Ultimate redesigns....except this one.

Marvel should learn about how to make DTV movies from DC and Timm and company.

well this isnt really an ultimate redesign, seeing as it was made for the movie and not the comics

3D animation isn't the same thing as a better story. And what UA needs is better storytelling.

I just saw it and I thought it was better than the first one. The negative review on the first page is way off. UA2 seemd to have fixed some of the animation problems from the first one and turned up the action content. It is definitely bloodier than the first and uch more violent. I can't wait for more of these DTVs. The Iron Man and Doc Strange DTVs look really good in the first looks.

well, by full blown, I meant actually spending time making the movie, not just half-assing it in a hurry.

bleh, i wasn't diggin it. it was just like the first movie except with the black panther thrown in.

Well...you're half right. When was the last time you saw a feature-length, photorealistic computer generated film?

Marvel needs to put their money into their live-action films.
