This show has:

-Good animation.

-Doc Ock being a quadriplegic and can only move around with his robotic tentacles is original and interesting.

-Venom being created by spidey's DNA is also a fresh idea. This way you can just bypass Peter wearing the symbiote and become a dark spidey.Kinda gets old, because we keep seeing that formula a ton of times.

Things that make this show suck:

-The spidey team is horrible in this show.
-The symbiote jumping onto each member was a terrible idea.
-Spidey becoming Venom when the symbiote got on him was also a bad decision.
-Spidey barely web swings in this show.
-This just doesn't feel like a spidey show,it feels like an Avengers show with spidey keeps showing up as a cameo.

-I love "Team Spidey"... it's a great cast of B-list heroes. Especially with Iron Fist and Nova in the Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 game, it gives them a chance to make their presence known.

- Did you know the ORIGINAL idea behind Venom was to have the costume be the villain, and it would jump around the Marvel universe, snagging supers and civilians alike and going after Spider-Man? Originally it was a woman, who miscarried after being caught in a super-battle between Spidey and a villain. She's the one who pushed Peter infront of a subway train in an early issue of "Web of"

-Ultimate Spider-man briefly morphs into Venom when confronted by a criminal that reminds him of Uncle Ben's killer. The shock of the transformation is what triggers the realization the "ooze" is deadly.

- Errrr... he rarely did much webslinging in the 90's or 80's or 60's... or in the 3 Raimi movies... 22 minutes of webslinging is not needed. You want to see tons of webslinging? buy the video games.

- Really? coz... Avengers haven't even shown up yet IN the show. Ironman is supposed to show up (next week I think) and Cap shows up too, but other than Nick Fury, there is nothing "Avengers"-ish about Ultimate Spidey. Now, you can complain it's too "Amazing Friends"-ish, but I think that is the show's strongest point.

Anyway, haters be hating, fans be lovin', and nothing anyone posts here will change anyone's preferences. I don't want the pages of the comic up on screen. That's not why I watch it.

I think it does a much better job at knowing when to be funny and when to keep the humor at a minimum. It generally keeps the dramatic scenes dramatic, and uses the humor when it's appropriate. In "Venom", there's a cutaway during the rooftop fight where Spidey makes a joke about Venom mowing his law, and we see a short clip of Venom mowing the lawn for Spidey. Out of context, I would probably think it was cute. In the midst of that fight, however, I was wondering why it was there at all. It breaks the flow of the action.

I don't think knowing when to be serious or funny is the problem. The problem is the writers not wanting the show to be one or the other at any particular time. It's a pop culture tongue-in-cheek mishmash and intended to be so. You just have to go with the flow if you want to enjoy it.

There's another cutaway where Harry storms out of the cafeteria like a middle school girl after seeing Peter hanging out with other people (seriously?), and we see a spotlight shine on a hurt Peter Parker after Harry tells him how he feels. This feels like a moment we're at least supposed to care about, but then they throw a visual gag into the ONE social dilemma Peter has in the episode? Am I supposed to care or not? The ever shifting tone confuses me.

The whole concept is a bit disingenuous. It supersedes everything. So if you like the concept then I guess you would care. If you don't like it then you probably wouldn't.

Just tough to sink your teeth into it if you want it to be something it's not.

Even setting the origin aside, I don't understand Venom's motives. He wants Spider-Man. That's it. We don't know why-sure, we can speculate, but it isn't clear in the episode. Maybe that will be developed more later. I really want to like this show, but I'm finding it increasingly difficult with each episode.

Venom's motive have ALWAYS been lame. I've loved the character since 1988, but his hatred of Spider-Man has always seemed stupid to me. He might as well decide to hate the Hulk coz Hulk gave him a hangnail. Sorry fellow Venom fans, but that's how I see it. Raimi tried to add a little to Venom by making Brock the "Anti-Pete", which helped that character a lot, and made SM3 my favorite version of Eddie Brock so far.

Ignore the origin and the source of the hatred (he got fired for being a grade A f-up. big whup.), and it's an interesting looking character with interesting powers and an interesting relationship with Spidey. That seems to be the general plan with Ultimate Spiderman cartoon... not to put a focus on any origin, skim past it right to the action... I think it works, ESPECIALLY for a character like Venom.

Ok im done with this show, seriously. I didnt know it was possible for someone after 90's spidey, spectacular spidey, to be able to mess up. I mean with all the spidey cartoon adaptation, i would think its easy to know what fans want and hate. But the people at MArvel, of all people, screwed up BIG TIME.

I for one will not be watching this crap anymore, i'll definetely watch Avanger's EMH because it is an awesome show, even though we now know that it is getting cancelled, because mr Loeb wants a new avengers show in line with ultimate spiderman.

Anyway, i urge you all to let the creators of the show know how we feel about this abomination, through twitter. We live in a world where we can easily let the creators know what you think, so please do so, so they can fix this crap for the second season that has already been ordered.

The 10 things that are WRONG about this show:

1- Too many breaking the 4th wall

2- WAY TOO MANY humour (which is most of the time not funny)

3- Shield is WAY too involved

4- Spidey in a team of teeangers before he even fight any real spidey villain.

5- Nova is SO ABNOXIOUS

6- there is almost no drama at all in this show.

7- no continuity, each episode is a single story, you can watch everything out of order and still get the show.

8- Too much explaining. Peter needs to take us from our hand and over-explain every single stupid detail.

9- Making old heroes teenagers: So you are telling me the nova corps chose this obnoxious punk to be the new nova? Lady-token err... i mean white tiger is just annoying with her "boys are stupid" " you are stupiiiid" "the stupideset everrr" GOD i hate her

10- Not only are those punks been forced on us when pete is spidey, they had to cram them into his school life as well!!!

The 3 things that are good with this show:

- Good animation

- Good action and choreography

- Voicework is good, even though drake bell kind of sounds annoying sometimes

Anyway, i urge you all to let the creators of the show know how we feel about this abomination, through twitter.

^He threw cards about villains he defeated the year before joining the team

I'm starting to view his rivalry with Nova as the classic rivalry with Johnny Storm, sure in the classic comics he didn't have this immature moment with Doom, but I can take everything else

And the show does have continuity, might not be as strong as it was in TSSM, but it has obvious continuity so far

Thanks for the accounts. I'll be sure to let them all know how much me and my family love the show :D

Pretty underwhelming episode, but the characters weren't as annoying as last episode and seriousness was there when it needed to be thankfully. Just don't like this Venom origin, it was more like Ultimate Carnage. And why is the symbiote's weakness electricity all of the sudden?

^He threw cards about villains he defeated the year before joining the team

And none of them were Spider-Man villains. Really, Venom is the first actual Spider-Man villain he faces here. Something not right about that.

This is the dynamic in a nutshell. For all the people complaining about the show, there seems to be just as many praising and enjoying it. It's polarising.

And why is the symbiote's weakness electricity all of the sudden?
Cause that's how Ultimate Peter got rid of it?

He faced PPP on multiple occasions in comics

The 10 things that are WRONG about this show:

1- Too many breaking the 4th wall
I have no problems with that. It's a kid's cartoon.

2- WAY TOO MANY humour (which is most of the time not funny)
Again... KID'S cartoon.

3- Shield is WAY too involved
we knew that a year ago.

4- Spidey in a team of teeangers before he even fight any real spidey villain.
It's like the Amazing friends. Again, big whup.

5- Nova is SO ABNOXIOUS
Your opinion.

6- there is almost no drama at all in this show.
Good. Life has enough drama. If I want drama, I turn on a soap opera. This is fun. I want fun.

7- no continuity, each episode is a single story, you can watch everything out of order and still get the show.
Best thing about the show. I love that. I can watch an episode without needing the saga to go with it. I HATE 5 part cartoons. When I want a two hour cartoon, I'll turn on Pixar.

8- Too much explaining. Peter needs to take us from our hand and over-explain every single stupid detail.
He's a nerd. Nerds do that.

9- Making old heroes teenagers: So you are telling me the nova corps chose this obnoxious punk to be the new nova? Lady-token err... i mean white tiger is just annoying with her "boys are stupid" " you are stupiiiid" "the stupideset everrr" GOD i hate her
Agaaaaiiiin.... kid's cartoon. Kids are obnoxious. Oh well.

10- Not only are those punks been forced on us when pete is spidey, they had to cram them into his school life as well!!!
Life's a b, ain't it...

I have already emailed them several times, several places about how thrilled I am with the show, as a 30 year long Spider-Man fan. It's fantastic and I hope it'll have at least two or three seasons.

Thanks for the accounts. I'll be sure to let them all know how much me and my family love the show :D
Amen!

Forgot about the electricity part in the comics, alrighty then.

But the Trapster is not strictly classified as a Spidey villain. If we want to get technical, he's legally grouped as a Fantastic Four villain.

5- Nova is SO ABNOXIOUS
Starting a bit obnoxious doesn't mean he'll stay that way, Peter was obnoxious towards Sam in the start of episode 3, then they ended on friendlier terms

But the Trapster is not strictly classified as a Spidey villain. If we want to get technical, he's legally grouped as a Fantastic Four villain.
Same goes for Sandman, and I'm not ignoring the difference of times Spidey faced each villain

Technically so is Dr. Doom, but the good Doctor has tangled with Spidey a number of times... I have no qualms about it. I'd love for him to tangle with Magneto, and have a run-in with The Hulk... I like different. I want more obscure villains... like Constrictor, or Styx & Stone, etc.

I can only see Kraven the Hunter & Shocker so many times before they get boring.

For anyone moaning about continuity, I'm sure we all enjoyed this show

batman_580.gif

Which is a little more lose than USM animated in continuity, and this is here only to talk about continuity

Like that show, he had a year or more of experience in being the superhero before joining a team

First episode... Spidey says he's been doing the super-hero thing for a year or so... we just aren't privy to it.

Honestly, that's news to me!
Cancelling it? Damn

Same goes for Sandman, and I'm not ignoring the difference of times Spidey faced each villain

No, Sandman is actually considered a classic Spider-Man villain. He is classified as that through the legal papers as well, hence him being able to appear in TSSM where villains like Beetle could not (classified as an Iron Man villain and therefore off limits).

I am just furious if shows like Spec SM and Avengers EMH are canceled for this immature show. The lack of story is my greatest gripe with it. For me it's the same as The Batman show. Where you have no story following, no characters to care for.. but every episode is centered on a villain and how to defeat him. And with lots of humor this time. Also I don't like the team. They simply don't go very well together on screen. They are way too random choices.
I am all for action on letting the producers know that shows like this are not worthy for canceling the good ones.
Does anyone know how are the ratings for this show? And how Avengers are doing?

Just reading the description of the new episode sounds bad. Not only did they ignore Venom's NORMAL (616) origin, they ignored the Ultimate origin that this show is supposedly based off. (very poorly, may I add) I haven't seen the last two episodes because this show is straight up bad. The only thing holding this show together at all is the animation. Or should I say, WAS the animation. I saw the beginning of last week's episode (Dr. Doom.) and the intro with Peter recapping things shows very basic and recycled animations over and over. It looks like crap. Plus, the animation takes a huge hit during action scenes where the poorly choreographed and unorganized fights just kinda take place and don't pull you in with any sort of composition or cinematography. Say what you will about TSSM's art, but the show was put together like a movie. Don't believe me? Watch the beginning of episode 13. Beautiful camera shots, action, and Spider-Man being Spider-Man. This show has none of that. I don't only hate this show for replacing TSSM, I hate it because it sucks. This show never should have been green-lit and I hope it dies very fast.

the episode didn't feel like u needed to see what happened before other than white tiger making a remark saying spidey has been through alot of training lately and maybe that's why he's on edge (when it was really wolvie in pete's body)
and the show does seem to have good story telling. narrative, and character development. and they did say the show will get darker and more serious as it goes on but at the same time will still retain it's humor.

the episode was truly amazing and awesome. like i said any doubts i had before went straight out the window....

the villain who caused them to swtich bodies, i forgot thier name, but a mutant who can hypnotize people and used his powers to make wolvie and spidey switch places but the entire time he was locked up(well after the opening of the episode when spidey was trying to stop him then wolvie showed up)

the real villain of the episode was...well i'd rather not give it away cause it was a nice hilarious surprise. just know the fight was EPIC

there were some really funny moments in the fight, but over all it was awesome. in fact it took the entire episode, wolvie and spidey together fighting this foe.
the animation REALLY shined in this one.

seriously guys, even if u give up on this show, at least watch this episode when it finally airs..my gawd it was aweosme

I don't even want it to get dark and serious. The nonstop gags just need to stop and I want a coherent story. I'm not asking for much. TSSM wasn't dark and serious all the time, there was still lots of fun to be had, especially with Spidey's well delivered quips and when he was mocking his enemies.

man what is wrong with you guys the show is good for what it is and all this negative comments its got to stop. You know how you say the show is childish, well you are all acting like children having baby tantrums, you don't like it, that's ok, fine, all you can do is don't watch it and when you do that you will feel better. people are too harsh on this show man enough is enough. Don't come in here on this forum and complain and complain and complain..... man its not the end of the world, we have amazing spider-man on the way and the video game, you have options of spidy love (if that's the spelling) and you can go back and watch spectacular spider-man again if you want.

Me I am watching this cartoon with a blank mind, I turn off my brain lol and just watch and enjoy it. I think its funny, spectacular has its own way of being funny and the all fit spider-man's world. i go in watching this cartoon and I don't think of the comics this is a different universe just like young justice is a different universe and spectacular ( silver sable being silvermen's daughter). The all carry different tones and I watch them differently, easy no quamps no problems. The voice acting is very good and animation is the best in spider-man's history, now I can compare this to DC cartoons and I cant wait to see the Hulk and I believe in all my heart we shall have an x-men cartoon and we will see how the avengers animation changes for the better.
