Batman & Robin was more fun to watch than reading Ultimate Spider-Man, because you knew it was over after 2 hours... :woot:

:cwink:

Shut up and go read Ultimate Comics: All new Spider-Man :o

The Lord All Mighty has spoken. You must do as he commands. (Who knew God looked like Al Bundy?)

What if stories are fun because they are typically nice "done-in-one" stories... they're may have been a two-parter, but none come to mind... but USM doesn't read as a What If story to me... I get what you're trying to say, but it just didn't work for me... in fact, I preferred reading Spider-Man Adventures moreso than Ultimate Spider-Man...

Just my two cents...

:yay:
It's another way to tell the stories, it was Basically the writers showing how they would adapt the stories to film. The originals are still there, the mainstream universe still stands, this is another tale.

Prefering the mainstream marvel universe shouldn't matter, expecially when there are so many good stories in this brand, i for example loved reading Ultimate Fantastic Four, but i still prefer Jack Kirby's FF tales. The only storie from Ultimate Marvel i prefer to their mainstream version are The Ultimates and even then it's more of a preference.

Not to mention that right now Ultimate Comics are delivering some top tier stories.

That's a perfect way to describe it.

I guess that would explain why the last movie... story-wise... was the weakest of the 4 Spider-Man movies...

I prefered Sam Raimi's efforts but many can disagree, in fact most critics that liked it said it was the 2nd best Spider-man movie. And in terms of capturing what teen is like, as well as the romantic lead Amazing Spider-Man was better.

Also, the original films took some elements from Ultimate too, in my opinion The Avengers would habe been a better film if it had taken even more from The Ultimates than it already did.

Definitely agree with this!

I'm actually surprised that THUNDERSTRIKE liked Ultimate and TMOB hated it.

Me. I enjoyed it, but enjoyed it less and less as it went on. I stuck with it until Pete "died" the first time. I picked up the reboot after the tidal wave with Pete back, but gave up soon after.

Still prefer my 616 Peter Parker!

I think so...

The characterizations were way off in TASM...
Right, and the characterizations were perfect in SM3. Seeing Emo Peter dancing down the street brought back fond memories of the classic comic books.

huh? How so? Peter's a teen, he acted like a teen, made mistakes like a person, and like a human being had his heart in the right place.

I don't want a Pete that acts like a teen, I want a Pete that acts like Pete...

I agree that was stupid, and SM3 wasn't very good. But the "emo" act was only one part of the movie while he was under the influence of the symbiote. It wasn't the characterization of an insufferable ass through out the entire film, like TASM.

There are a lot of variations of that

Insufferable ass? Being a human being is being an insufferable ass? And how was he an insufferable ass? I found him a very likeable character through the whole movie

Arguing with Spider-Gnome is futile. Don't bother.

Excuse me, but where have I warranted such a reputation?

Look, you enjoyed Amazing, fine. For the record, I was happy when they announced a reboot of the Spider-Man movies. I liked what Raimi did, but there was a lot I didn't like (Dunst as MJ, Goblin's costume, etc). I thought there was a lot they could improve. Unfortunately, to me, TASM felt further removed from the Spider-Man I have read for 40 years. It was more Ultimate, while I prefer 616 (Which is odd since they called the movie Amazing, not Ultimate).

To me, a better adaptation of Spider-Man, since we are talking about adaptation in context of the Ultimate comic and the Amazing movie, is the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon.

"Insufferable ass" may be a bit much, but no, I did not find Garfield's Pete likable. He was jerky to Aunt May & Uncle Ben, showed a disregard for authority, and just laughs off his vow to Capt. Stacy.

I will go to the sequel (from pix it looks like the best Spidey costume to date), but I do not have high expectations.

I think we can all agree that Spider-Man 2 was the best of the four, though...right?

No he wasn't, they had a discussion, like a normal family does sometimes.

showed a disregard for authority,

As does every vigilante, and every superman version, in fact i don't really remember him doing anything major gainst authority.
and just laughs off his vow to Capt. Stacy.
That i understand, but then again i think it would be kind of difficult for him to stay away from Gwen for so long. My only real problem wa shim not attending Captain Stacy's funeral like everybody else?

He could have at least stayed away from her until sometime in the second movie... it showed a compete and utter disregard to the dead captain... and the REAL Peter Parker would have shown some restraint, as opposed to the 10 minutes viewing time (and possibly a week in the movie's time)... I get raging hormones, I get that ultimately, he'd want to be with Gwen... but so fast, and so disrespectful once he makes the decision... aack... it was just awful to watch.
