Rocket was the Edgar Friendly of GOTG: I tell you what we're gonna do. We're all gonna go out drinking, get ****-faced, and paint the town, literally. I mean graffiti, slogans. It'll be a blast.

I disagree also :highfive:

Worst case scenario Thor can leave Jane on earth to go and deal with something in any of the realms and then go back and be there for Avengers without any long winded excuses about how they message Thor is Asgard during an emergency. That really bothered me about the end of Avengers, Thor turned up because it was directly related to him, he lives in another realm, how is he meant to know when there is a problem on Midgard he's needed for everytime? How about, he lives on Earth with Jane and is taught to pick up a phone!

Heimdall
Heimdall is how he knows
That's a much cooler warning system than Thor with an iPhone

You've never read Thor: The Mighty Avenger ;) A phone can make you cry!

I also don't think Heimdall should be Thor's alarm clock, the guardian of Asgard is not a messenger boy. It would also involve him leaving his post.

Heimdall and Odin have Omnisense. Heimdall to a greater extent.

It's to late for that. Thor ask Heimdall to keep an eye on Jane for him and he did.

Given that we're still a few years away from seeing our third Solo Thor film (and most likely Chris's last solo film), do you guys think they should try to get Kenneth back for Directorial Duties?

I mean wasn't the only reason why he didn't come back to do the sequel because he wanted to have more prep time to plan out for the second film, let alone to take a break from the first one?

Honestly, considering that this will likely be Chris's last Thor Film....I really hope that they get the best of the best to make this film since I want a Thor film that as well received and financially successful like how our recent Captain america film was.

I agree in wanting the best for Chris's last Thor, but I don't think Branagh is the best they can do. He's a good director and did a good job on the first one, but it was hardly amazing and I think there's gotta be someone better-suited to the material to be found out there. I'm still dying to see what Matthew Vaughn could've done with this kind of stuff, tbh, considering everything he's managed to do with less time and/or money. I'm not saying he's the best option or anything, but he's just an example of one I'd prefer over Branagh.

You do have a point. What also worries me is that Thor doesn't have much of a good/substantial role in this film, and has been regulated towards the same status that "Hawkeye" had in the previous Avengers film.

We dont know Thor's role yet

Lets hope he is not used merely for mass drone cleanup...
Ultron for all his power and knowledge will still be dealing with the unknown when facing an Asgardian, especially one who is the most powerful and Odin's son.

I don't know. So far, we've heard almost every major cast member talk about what their character will be doing in this film (in some form). Yet Chris is the only one that really hasn't said anything much about his role other than Thor now working with the group on Earth in this film.

We've heard a rumor about how he and Jane are supposedly no longer together prior to the start of this film and we know that he'll have a physical confrontation with Tony in this film...but that's about it.

Truth be told, I'm not surprised since Thor's one big involvement in the entire MCU has always revolved around Loki, so with Loki not being in this film..Thor gets the short straw when compared to his fellow Avengers.

Well it would be nice to hear on what other villainous organizations within the MCU, including Hydra of course, think about Thor and how they plan on dealing with situations should they come across him because we've heard NOTHING so far on that end. Thor was like the only heavy hitter not to be mentioned as a "threat" to Hydra at all in the Winter Soldier.

I think Hydra and others have Thor on their radar since he has made earth his permanent home..
Where as before he was a protector of earth from threats originating from outside forces and not interfering with earths internal conflicts..
All that has now changed with his new address...And they now realize the danger he imposes to their organizations...

They only mention targets in TWS, meaning threats they know the location of. SHIELD does not know the location of Thor after TDW judging from AoS, which seems like a relevant part why they don't mention him as a target for the helicarriers.

Even if they did, if he's still living in the UK, not like he could be in the first wave of targets anyway.

:cwink: Not sure any of the weapons on the helicarriers could have harmed Thor should they have known regardless...
Ultrons real threat is his ability to sway individuals minds, thus causing Thor to turn on his team members..
I believe Hemsworth hinted of this in one of his interviews....

That's certainly an unknown factor. They would probably try if they knew that he was on Earth though.

Thanks for the link. It certainly sounds very interesting if they go the route of Ultron not seeing Thor as part of the problem but possibly part of the solution and trying to turn him towards that. I've always felt that it's more interesting to put Thor up against the rest of the Avengers than Hulk. Thor is more powerful due to his versatility and it's more of a curve ball from a storytelling standpoint.

I think Thor won't have this grand personal journey, but he will def be part of the team and have a say in matters and conversations, I think this film will feel more...of a team film than the first. If that makes any sense.

Hemsworth responded to RDJ's call out on the ALS ice bucket challenge (I find it kind of funny he says ASL instead of ALS): https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=682137608543069 he nominated Renner, Ruffalo (who was already nominated by someone else the other day someone from one of his water conservation things filled in for him), and Evans.

If I had to make a guess. . . the heavier guns of the Insight carriers *could* hurt Thor, though probably not a huge amount. The bigger problem they have is that Thor is *fast*, when he wants to be, and is heralded by an indestructible weapon. So, Thor on a ballistic trajectory towards one of the carriers is likely something they can't stop in time before he cores the thing.

It's cool he nominates 3 other Avengers, it shows how close they are that the first people they think of is each other.

Good job they didn't think to call him in TWS :whatever:

In Agents of SHIELD it's apparent that SHIELD doesn't know where Thor is. That also makes the most logical explanation why he's not mentioned as a threat to be eliminated by the carriers.

Also, Project Insight is based on extensive data gathering and analysis (a la the NSA) -- Social Security numbers, school records, medical history, bank accounts, credit cards, phone calls, emails, internet usage, etc... -- all stuff that Thor has pretty successfully avoided up to this point (talk about living off-grid!).
