Age of Ultron Ultron! We Would Have Words With Thee! Official Thor/Chris Hemworth Thread - Part 1

I think to the general audience that this is obvious

really? I've always gotten the impression they think Hulk is
I just read someone claim that on the cabin in the woods commentary, Joss is on it and the avengers fight comes up as a topic and he says that Hulk is more powerful but Thor would win because of mjolnir. Anyone know if this is actually on the commentary?

Ultron pretty much already said Thor was the biggest threat in AOU.

Bought the Extended Snow White and the Huntsman and Watched it this weekend and figured out what a Bildge Snipe looks like....the TROLL in Snow White and the Huntsman! lol

I really liked Snow White and the Huntsman..
I believe they are due to start shooting the sequel soon...
Releases in 2016 without Stewart it seems....

I think they've already started, Hemsworth's wife posted this on her instagram last weekend:

I thought SWatH was good for what it was, I could have done with someone else in the Snow White role other than Kristen Stewart though - I probably would have liked it more if that were the case. I'm glad the sequel/spinoff is just the Huntsman (no Snow White)

They've been filming for over a month. Chris went to the UK to film after the L.A. Premiere. It's why after that he just showed up for the London Premiere and skipped the Press Conference and interviews - he was filming.

I was wondering about the sequel. Great to hear it's filming, I just couldn't remember if they got the go ahead or not, just that they PLANNED on it

So anyone else wonder if Thors fingerprint would actually work?

Having just seen the deleted scenes and heard what Whedon has to say, I think Hemsworth got a very bad deal. Whedon admits (like I previously predicted) that Thor is difficult to write for because he doesn't talk like people and specially difficult to write for in a grounded movie like Avengers. He says Hemsworth was very protective of the character and trying very hard not to be irrelevant. And Whedon said Hemsworth was very patient with him. So he wrote this scene entirely for him, this was supposed to be Hemsworth's big scene in the film - a 4 minute sequence entirely centered on Thor, giving Hemsworth extended dialog, infact more dialog than he had in the rest of the film combined. It also gave Thor something to do, as he himself comes up with this plan, sacrifices himself, learns something very important and goes and tells the team. And Hemsworth kills the scene as Whedon admits. It is kinda like a possession sequence like the one Cate Blanchett did in LOTR - a big show-offy actory scene. And like Whedon said - designed to give Hemsworth something cool to do and Hemsworth gives a great performance.

And what happens?

The scene gets cut!

They couldn't not show this scene because then it would be hard to explain why Thor disappears in the middle of the movie. So they had to reluctantly keep it, and just kept about 30 seconds of it. And the scene in the movie is terrible. I hated it when I saw it and thought it should have been cut. And most of the audience hated it.

But seeing the full sequence, it absolutely should have stayed in the film. The scene in the movie does not make sense at all. I was like what the hell is this cave? Why is Selvig here, what is the pond, why is this needed? And the full sequence explains everything and puts everything in context.

Whedon openly admits that he hates the fact that the scene isn't in the film. He said the film is a film of compromises and this is one of the biggest ones. You have to wonder how 3 minutes of extra time would have killed the film.

Again, it was a mistake to cut the scene. And rob Hemsworth of his one big scene and extended sequence in the film.

I honestly do not like that deleted scene, feels too out-of-place imo . Also,is it so difficult to understand the scene in the movie? Thor simply goes back to his dream through the pond, hence the 'water of sights'. He finds out what he missed and they just show it,don't tell it to the audience. That's it.

The group I saw it with, none of us understood what happened there. I don't think non-readers would understand what that was at all.

In the movie, Selvig says 'The waters of Sids?' and Thor says 'Every realm has reflection'. And then he says I'll get my visions and next second he's in the water and getting visions and that's it. And you are like wtf was that????

I got no sense as to where they were, what that lake was, what was Selvig doing there, HOW Thor was getting the visions from the water.

Kudos to you if you understand but I did not get what the scene was at all in the theater. It was a head-scratcher honestly.

Oh I get that many people were confused with the scene,it takes a major suspension of disbelief with everything involving Thor. My take is that the spirits of the water welcomed Thor so that he could come back to his vision with the Infinity stones. It makes sense when he returns to the tower telling the others that he 'had a vision'.

I kind of got it but it just felt clumsy in the movie as it is, Marvel should have just let this movie be longer as it would have cleared up some of its major flaws.

I hate that Thor and Hulk got shafted also and that Cap and Iron Man, a character I was literally sick off after this movie, got more focus.

But don't you think its unfair that Hemsworth has one big solo scene in the film and it gets cut?

I'm SURE it should be only from the Trailers, Featurettes, and Clips already Out there. There ARE alot out there on you tube that aren't getting deleated

Yeah I agree but the execution of that scene was a little off to me. I still think Thor is one of the best characters in the movie and very relevant to the plot, cave or not.

I personally think Thor really needed that scene. I would as the movie stands say he was 7th in importance, screen time amongst the avengers being only higher than Pietro. Wanda had more badass moments, screen time and an arc than Thor did.

He was mostly just there, getting one major thing to do that is powering up Vision and explaining the mind stone and that's it. Otherwise he was just a team player with no stand out moments.

And now we know that both Hemsworth and Whedon struggled to make Thor relevant.

EDIT: I found actual screentimes below

Captain America: 50:25
Iron Man: 45:34
Black Widow: 33:07
Quicksilver: 26:43
Bruce Banner/Hulk: 23:55
Scarlet Witch: 20:59
Hawkeye: 19:56
Thor: 14:18
Vision: 8:41

Yeah. Thor definitely needed those 4 extra minutes.

Again,I get you. I too would have liked more Thor as I love him but at the same time I thought He was very relevant to the plot and his screentime did not feel so small during the movie. He is probably the most diffucult Avenger to pull off 'cause he's completely different from the rest, there's so much you can do with a God among humans so they don't feel useless. Also remember that Thor has his own franchise where he gets more character arc, something Scarlet or Vision don't have. Ad a Big Thor fan I was very happy How He was handled in the movie even with less screentime.

You are definitely happier about Thor's handling than even Hemsworth and Whedon, so kudos to you! :yay: :applaud
