I imagine gunfire is the first thing they take out of the film.

Was kind of hoping we’d get lucky and they’d jump into Spider-Man first, but can’t say I’m shocked.

Holland looks like young Drake, but... I don't want young Drake. I just re-beat 1-3 and a just started 4 for the first time. I love this franchise and Marky Mark as Sully is just idiotic.
These 2 seem like absolute joke castings. It feels like they are pulling the rug out from the film’s chances of success as I can see many fans not being too happy.

They are most certainly pulling the rug. I have only played Uncharted 1 out of the games so far as trying to Plat it before I start the others. And even I am outraged.

Wouldn't it be nice to see 60 years old Lara Croft movie?

Would be down for a Monica Bellucci-Lara Croft the Senior Years, yes ;)

I think Holland is totally wrong for the role, Drake is supposed to be a "big" stereotypical jock kind of guy... but maybe it will just be loosely based on the game and somehow turn out to be a fun movie.

With Holland we'll never get a Drake who looks like the character, (cause Tom will still have a babyface 10 years from now) but most videogame movies suck anyway

Decisions like this are why most videogame movies suck.

You're right, but I'm just saying even when they seem to be casting the right people they still mess it up. Look at Assassin's Creed...

But yeah, I don't get this decision at all if you want to base it on the game. Tom Holland is nothing like Nathan Drake. For some reason Sony really wants him in this movie

A movie no one asked for and yet causes so much trouble for movies I care much

I justhope Naughty Dog makes an Uncharted prequel game featuring teen Nathan. That would probably bebetter than this movie.

Because Tom Holland is "hot" right now. Sony thinks they can attach that to a big property as a lead. It's a simple cynical studio decision.

Let's make an Artemis Fowl movie. Now let's remove the whole hook of Artemis Fowl being this 12 year old kid super-villain and amoral criminal genius. Let's make him a superhero who wants to protect and save the world from evil fairies and at the end, he'll still call himself a criminal mastermind.

My point is, in these cases, Hollywood always likes to meddle and remove the things that make the source material so appealing in the first place.

My view of Drake is that he's a modern-day treasure hunter. Sort of like Indiana Jones but transplanted into the present day. However, unlike Indiana Jones, he's not a historical professor. He's very learned, but he acquired his knowledge mainly through experience and unconventionally rather than a five-star education.

Exactly this, why unnecessarily change things from the game? I understand something like Sonic needing to have humans in other than robotnik, but Uncharted is basically a movie already, just adapt the game as is.
The problem is that many of these filmmakers don't respect the source material. Even if you think they shouldn't make VG adaptations, it's even worse that they allow directors who clearly don't respect what they're adapting.
Some director, a good blockbuster director, has to come jn and do it.

Not a movie, but I think the Last of Us show could be it. But then again Uncharted is such a layup and they are messing this up. So who knows

Yes exactly. Honestly this shouldn’t really have been that hard. A much simpler game to translate to a movie than normal as the job is pretty much done within the game and its cutscenes, and without too many complex elements like cgi characters.

Yes. The movie based on a series where the appeal is all about playing through various historical settings and having it take place mostly in the present. The recent games have mostly abandoned the present day stuff because nobody cares about it. People just want to bash heads in Ancient Greece.

But it begs the question what's the point in doing the exact story if the game is already so cinematic and it's interactive? It's like The Last of Us. It's almost like a step back when you make a movie and an imitation of something that's already there.

In this case why not just write a new adventure for Drake? The concept fits for it. You still get the character you love but put him in a new situation unique to a film with all the charm of the games but that can surprise players and audience members alike.

I don't get why changing things up is always the first thought on movie exec's minds when trying top create a movie of a game series that has been successful for a long time. Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within is probably the worst offender. It feels like no one involved even played the games for that one.

Ellie will be 25 and Joel's love interest.

And that was the guy who CREATED the games!
