So, is the goal to eventually put Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp, Russell Crowe, and Javier Bardem all in the same "event" film? Because I really don't see how Universal could afford that...

They still need to cast Dracula, and the Creature from the Black Lagoon, AND the Wolfman too...

Universal certainly isn't thinking small in terms of casting. I am definitely impressed with their seeming lofty ambitions.

One RDJ sized paycheck was already bad enough.

Now imagine 5 people wanting the same cut.

There's no way Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp, Russell Crowe, and Javier Bardem will do any movie beside the 1st team up movie

Depp will easily bend over and do as many as he can until we're sick of him. The rest will be out after the 1st one

Its' been presumed on here previously and online when news first broke of a Monsters Universe. Some kept saying "Oh they're just copying Marvel" Everyone's copying Marvel these day's". Forgetting or most likely not knowing Universal did this decades earlier.

If Cruise actually enjoys the role he will not only stick around, he will fight to get sequels made (look at Mission: Impossible franchise and Jack Reacher).

That said, I would be shocked if we ever get to the team up movie.

Well personally, I know they did it first, but I was talking more about pacing out the releases, when Universal first did it, they didn't set up 4 movies followed by a crossover or whatever, they did it more naturally and then when the time was right, they crossed them over... The "marvel" method I mentioned is setting out the trajectory well in advance of all the movies being released

I'm hoping there's a more faithful representation of the look of the monster from the book. But that's unlikely since this is Universal and they'll most likely just be re-doing their version. As iconic as it is, I still would like to see something different for once.

To be fair though, Marvel is the reason this shared universe thing has become so big recently, even if they weren't the first to try it. Their success paved the way for other franchises to try it out.

But anyway I have seen this discussion a million times on this forum. Lol

With this and, possibly, Dwayne Johnson as the Wolf Man and Angelina Jolie as Bride of Frankenstein, I can't wait to see who they get for Van Helsing and Dracula. If Luke Evans isn't coming back that is.
