Theyll probably do their own new thing the same way theyve done something different with the Mummy rather than sticking to the original film. Im hoping Frankenstein's monster will be more like the monster in Penny Dreadful.

Same. I've only recently got into Penny Dreadful and I'm hugely impressed with what they did with those literary characters.

Screen Junkies also thinks that Tom Cruise will end up as The Mummy.

Mads Mikkelsen would make a great Dracula. He'd also make an interesting Phantom. Hell, just find a place for Mads somewhere in there.

Welp I hope it all works out. They have serious acting talent behind it.
But I just don't have much faith nor do I see the point of connecting all these creatures. I understand remaking them but bring them all together is

Thanos' power can destroy all realities you know :o

So should we assume that when they get to the big crossover team-up movie down the line, they're also going to title that one Dark Universe?

Christopher McQuarrie's name also popped up in the press release, I could see them looking at him to direct the team-up, partly because of his connection to Cruise.

I've been lobbying this for years.

In a perfect world, Tom would call up his Jack Reacher collaborator Werner Herzog for Van Helsing.

Universal Sets 'Bride of Frankenstein' for 2019 http://thr.cm/r6xbVl

So will these all be set in modern day like The Mummy? It just feels really boring visually. They would work much better in the past.

Also why Bride of Frankestein? Why not just Frankenstein and include the bride part there too. Like in the 90s remake.

I really really wish they were in the past myself but I guess we'll see.

On an unrelated note I watched Abbott and Costello Meets Frankenstein. That **** is gold.

Yeah that was a big missed opportunity.
I think they kinda made the same mistake with the MonsterVerse

So is Tom Cruise going to be the hero through all these movies?

I don't see the problem in a very talented actor being a protagonist in this universe, it's just a question of what his role is.

I saw all the support for Mads Mikkelsen and agree.
A wonderful and talented actor.
Universal would hit it out of the park casting him in any role.
Dracula or the Phantom would work for me.
But, I would want him so bad I would even offer him a role for one of the heroes...how about Van Helsing?

Here is some visual proof :

Is the Universal Monsterverse already a reboot? Didn't they actually start this thing a few years ago with that Dracula film and Charles Dance as the series connector?

I'm not a big Cruise fan BUT if they are trying to spin this Universe into a bigger franchise, maybe they shouldn't be saddling their hopes on someone who only brings in tepid numbers except for his MI movies.

I understand that we are in the age of Franchises and no longer Big Stars and, I'm really into this Universe series, but I'm not sure I wanna see Cruise in every one.

I wonder if we will get a Wolfman in the universe?

Eventually.

Yeah, Dracula Untold was going to be part of the Monsters universe its' why they added that post credit scene but that movie bombed big time.

So now it begins with The Mummy.

What happens if the very real possibility of the Mummy bombing happens?

Cruise hasn't done much outside of the MI franchise in recent memory. He's done the Reacher films, the first of which is very good (haven't seen the sequel).

I'm not familiar with his bankability these days but I trust the guy. Even when things seemed bleak for him in terms of work, he never became desparate and he continued to take care in the roles that he did choose. For that reason I'm honestly more enthused to see him in this than Depp or Crowe.

I'm not sure if the audience has no interest in him anymore, more so the issue for me is that he hasn't had the opportunity to show what he can do in a long time. I mean no matter how talented I think Cruise is, I just have no interest in watching another MI film. That's not Cruise' s fault....it just doesn't appeal to me as an on going story anymore.

None of his movies have been big hits other than MI. The first Reacher movie made enough to get a sequel
I loved Edge of Tomorrow and the last 2 MI movies but I think audiences aren't really into him. I don't see The Mummy making a lot of money. Especially with how meh the trailers are

This has probably been my favorite period of Cruise's career, but outside of M:I, he isn't really bankable.

Antagonist or protagonist Mads would be a dream casting for the universe in general.
