I honestly thought the USO musical sequence was the 2nd best scene in a superhero film of ALL TIME after the interrogation room in the dark knight. Absolutely phenomenal in tone, etc.
I loved when he was walking with the soldiers, and then you see that it was just a moving backdrop. That was funny. I hope the general audience liked this scene
At first I thought it was too cheesy and that the GA would hate it so bad.....After the scene though I thought back at it and I really felt it was done right&worked near perfect,When I looked around I saw&heard people really into it!!!
My favorite parts of it all would have to be Cap in the comic's original tights suit and Hitler!
The nods to the original comic and can selling the war bonds...this is what cap was all about to me before the movie cap out..the idea of him as an icon to rally kids and troops alike to the war effort. Sort of a male soldier Rosie the Riveter. A figurehead. This is what the comic character was created to do and I think the scene embodies it perfeclty.
The sequence was very well done and Evans gave Cap a sense of humor. Also I loved the "Star Spangled Man" song so much by Alan Menken that as soon as I left the theater I downloaded the song off of Itunes and placed it on my I-pod touch . I really see this song getting an Oscar nomination and I think it should win it .
Evans looked great in the Classic tights suit with triangular shield and punching out Hitler just like the first issue of Captain America .
I thought the whole USO sequence really worked well, especially how he got more and more into the role as time went on, more of a showman. Then getting the reality slap in the face when he's doing this in front of real soldiers.
Yeah, the jolt back to reality with the real soldiers was what made the whole sequence so great in execution. The way Rogers went from being apprehensive to enjoying it to realizing how he became a puppet. Really well done.
I dig his current costume too, it just looked ridiculous during the USO scenes; and I get that "ridiculous" and "exploitative" was the point of those scenes but damn lol.
I'd like to get a better look at the costume they showed briefly in the Avengers trailer.
