I just saw the movie, having NO IDEA what the heck it was or what it was even about, and friggen loved it!

Now, I know it's based on a comic...My question is, how true was it to the comic? I loved the movie, is it necessary to check out the comic?

It wasnt very true to the comics. As as far as how true it was....

Lets just say alan moore the writer of the comic was lets say dissapointed with the way the matrix brothers potrayed the film.

Anti Bush film is what it was but it was good one of my favorites.

It's not very true to the comic. Also, it is quite necessairy to check out the comic as the comic is better.

Alan Moore is disappointed by any adaptation of his work.

I thought I read somewhere that he loved "For the Man Who Has Everything" on JLU.

Maybe that's just the exception.

read the comic, its far superior.

Alan Moore is disappointed by any adaptation of his work.

well, considering all the adaptations of his work thus far, he has every right to be disappointed, in my opinion. and while he's quite against adaptations of his work, he was still impressed with hayter's final draft of watchmen.

The movie was a dramatically simplified version of the comic, as I guess it had to be as all the stuff in the comic would have resulted in an 8 hour film. I personally feel that the comic was better than the film, but both were good. And if you're as dense as me, make sure you've got your thinking cap on when you read the comic, cos I got lost a couple of times with all the different characters and themes and storylines.

Alrighty then, I'll be getting the comics!

I LOVE the movie, and I think I'll love the comics even more since they have even more to offer!

Is it still running? How long is it? How many TPBs are there?

It's one TPB, it was published back in the 80s.

You can get it all in one trade, they recently released a new printing when the movie came out, I think. It should only be about $20.

People like you make me sick. You didn't understand the movie, nor did you have any idea of what it was, yet you still loved it?

Why don't you form an opinion that isn't based on what everyone else thinks.

BTW; it's one solid novel around 300 pages long.

Stop being an *******.:whatever:

(S)he's worse than the people that said Pan's Labyrinth was an awesome movie, because they couldn't understand the meanings of all of it and all the symbolism.

Dude, just shut the **** up and stop being an *******. I'm pretty sure the poster was using hyperbole.

Pardon me, SouLeSS...

But where in my posts did I say that I didn't understand the movie, or that I watched it at someone else's suggestion?

I think you grossly misunderstood my first post, and would kindly suggest that you re-read things and pay attention before being a total ass! Your remarks towards me were totally uncalled for (I'm assuming it's me you were bashing, and even if they weren't directed toward me they were still uncalled for)!

I must not have been clear enough in my original first post, so let me rephrase what I had said.

I watched the movie for the first time recently. Before seeing the movie I had no idea what it was, and had no clue what to expect from it.

I was pleasantly suprised by what I saw that night, I thought the film was brilliant!

I will be getting the TPB, no doubt about it, I loved this movie and I'm sure I'll love the original comic as well!

I found it very faithful to the comics. Some changes were made, and maybe not always in order to fit in the film format, but I think it is pretty faithful.
Nevertheless, I think it is necessary to check out the comic book : first because Alan Moore's work "has always to be" checked out. Then because you will see the original work and see the differences with the film and above all you'll read great scenes that aren't in the movie.
BTW, Alan Moore is always disappointed with the adaptations, so ...

The movie is one of the best comic book adaptations ever.

Yeah, Soulless, that was pretty uncalled for. Not to mention, some pretty stupid and elitist rationale

"You don't understand it as well as I do, therefore, you're not allowed to like it! Poser!"

I'm curious to hear someone confirm or deny this, simply because that episode was sweet. :o

The comic is better for the most part, but I liked the movie's ending better. There's more closure.
