There are no old characters coming back. Jane is a completely new Diana who is nothing but an homage to the original, as she has said in several interviews, most of which were posted in this thread. Singer's role is someone completely new. This is just the show trying to capitalize on the popularity of the old by bringing in actors from the previous one. It's pretty much the same as the new BSG bringing in Richard Hatch from the old.
