Valkyrie chronicles

Bought this game and a guide because I'll probably suck at it.
 
I'm loving it so far, got it last week. Right now I just finished the first desert battle. It was the first battle ppl started to actually get taken down and I had to call in reinforcements to finish.

I have been extra careful tho to try and rescue everyone. Think I heard someone on here say if someone dies it's permanent, and I don't want to lose any characters.

Other than that, story and gameplay are fantastic. This is probably my third fave exclusive on the PS3 so far this gen, it really is a great game (atleast so far). Going off of some of the reactions in another thread here tho I think I'll opt to skip the DLC.

What are you talking about?
 
I've never played an RPG before. I've watched friends play numerous ones, Final Fantasy for example. I didn't really like the whole choose your attack and take turn type gameplay but this game caught my interest when I saw some gameplay videos. My question though is, is this really a good game? Would it be a safe bet for a guy like me whos not once played an RPG?
 
I would say yes, even though it is technically turn-based you have a good degree of what you want to do with them. Plus, there's a lot more strategy involved then the typical JRPG. It's more like a RTS trapped in a JRPG's body really. There's a demo over PSN, it gives you a general idea of what to expect though I promise you it gets much better then just the demo

Mainly in the PS Store update thread. The way you guys talked about the DLC made it sound short. Tho Electro did praise the Selvaria DLC, I remember hearing elsewhere that the Edy DLC was forgettable.

I might end up picking up the Selvaria pack, but I'm not even close to being done with the main game yet.
 
Ah, well I haven't picked up the add-ons just yet, I plan to this summer when finals are behind me. They did seem pricey and, if memory serves, one of them is just a bonus difficulty mode. Honestly, though, I really loved this game and want to do all I can to support a potential continuation
 
Just finished the Marberry (think that's it) Beach deal with the smoke bombs....did NOT see the cinema after that coming. I mean...I guess I should have, there were hints in the story, but just took me by surprise.

(spoiler ahead for those who haven't played yet, don't click)
Isara's death got me about as bad as Aerith's death did. Tho with Aerith it was because that was the first time a game had presented an important character death so well. With Isara it's a pointless death (because of the stray bullet, not plotline as it's important to that), she was young, and finally making friends with racist Rosie (who in turn was finally getting a little redemption).

Games still awesome, can't wait to get further in :). Also, think I'll cave and buy the Selvaria dlc later, tho I still refuse to buy the Edy dlc based on a lot of negative reactions. Also plan on skipping the harder difficulty dlc as normal difficulty can be tough as is heh.
 
Also, scouts are overpowered lol. Not necessarily the toughest, but I watched a few youtube skirmishes...sheesh. I learned how to complete maps that took my team 6 or so turns in just 1 with Alisha alone (with a defense and evade order). I remember the trouble Fouzen gave me my first time, now in one turn Alisha runs down and across the mine field bridge and activates the elevator. Then next turn I can bring everyone from the beginning down behind the enemy and finish the rest of the map that second turn.

Before at the beach I was lvl 10 and having trouble. After that I did skirmish after skirmish in just a few minutes and had all classes up to 16. Things are a lot easier with elites lol.
 
The point in your spoiler is absolutely incredible. And the scene with the song afterwards? Outstanding. Best game on PS3.
 
I hope Sega release more titles like this now the game is picking up in terms of sale, I know they were not happy with the amount sold when it was first released but now things are changing. Hell give me VC 2 over any ****** sony game any day of the week.
 
Okay episode 6 is a bit weird...

Well very. But I couldn't help laughing my butt off.

I'm struggeling with their representation of Welkin. He's looking more and more like a clueless idiot by the second, which is the opposite of what he really is. Aside from this, its still a faithful adaption and really awesome to watch.

This is awesome! I never wanted a full blown sequal, so to get a smaller game focused on a smaller conflict is fantastic news.

Well, so long Peace Walker, this is now my most anticipated game.
 
Well, that's awesome in the sense that VC is getting a sequel. Not so awesome that I have no PSP:cmad:

Well, I'm sure several people will be trading in their 3000's to get it when it releases. Get one of those.:up:
 
Well, with this and the new KH coming out next year, I probably will break down and get one. I would like to get a Go! to be honest, just for the convenience sake. I won't be surprised if by this time next year I will break down and buy one

Man I can never get enough of rewatching some of the games cutscenes, especially the final one with Alicia and Welkin.
