It worked for Batman. WB should do the same for Superman. What would you do to market Superman's revamp?

I would start sending out copies of th Daily Planet so promote the next movie. Any ideas as to what else they could do?

Maybe a tourist guide to Metropolis, with information on LexCorp, Daily Planet, Star Labs, and Famous People profiles featuring Lex Luthor.

it worked for joker. we dont know how it would work only for batman in BB.

maybe realese an internet site that is like a fansite that deals with UFO. and then there you can have handheald cameras of people in metropolis filming something flying in the sky. of course it would be superman.
something like hancock.

I like that idea, Perry.

Viral marketing made the boards even slower :(

Yep, the board went to hell every time a new viral popped up so I vote no. I don't want to go through that headache again :cmad:

No. It worked for Batman but I don't think it would mesh well if Superman. The thing that made the TDK virals so interesting were all the Mob, cops, and political affairs.

maybe metropolis could also be interesting. maybe viral marketing from LL.

I think we will see a similar campaign as TDK, simply because it was so successful. That being said, I think we will see that type of marketing for a lot of tent pole films.

I don't think that viral marketing had any effect on TDK's boxoffice.

Maybe not but it did a very good job of keeping the fans excited while having to wait for the movie to be released.

Virals are for immature people with too much free time available, so the answer is a big no.

Or maybe your just to slow to be able to follow them, or just too far away to participate

They'd be crazy not to try. Not only did the viral help boost TDK to being the most anticipated movie of 2008 by the end of 2007, it did it in an extremely cost effective way that helped deliver a $500 million+ domestic gross.

All TDK's viral marketing campaign was just a sophisticate grassroots campaign. And grassroots is what I swear by in my job. It's relatively cheap and the most effective because you're getting your fans to do the grunt work of spreading the word out of pure passion than a paycheck.

I think they would be dumb not to try it again. Metropolis is just as interesting of a city as Gotham. With all the dealings of Lex Luthor he alone could have a dozen web sites about various compaies he owns.

List of viral sites they would have to have.

www.starlabs.com
www.thedailyplanet.com
www.metropolisuniversity.edu ( Lois and Clark are both grads for here )
www.lexcorp.com
www.aceoclubs.com (Bibbo" Bibbowski's bar)
www.mpd.com
www.gbs.com

I could list much more. But these sites could be fun.

Or maybe he has better things to do and decided not to obsess with Joker's Blue's Clues.

so in other words money thrown away.
the fans would 100% go in the hteater to watch the movie.
the purpose of the promotion is to get people that dont know about it.

Which is what the virals for The Dark Knight did. it brought out the general movie fan not just the comic fans. This is why they should do it for Superman too. The Virals made Batman's universe seem real. It will work for Superman as well. Do the virals right and the whole DC universe could be tied together.

a hot air balloon, with the pattern of the world printed on it... with a superman statue suspended underneath, to make it look like he is flying while lifting the earth.
