Anyone get Kid Icarus? I'm thinking of getting it (NES games are a plus with the wiimote) but I seriously need to cut back on spending money.

ill definitely buy that.

does anyone know what the two slots on the back and the middle top button are for on the classic controller?

My guess is that at some point it will be where we can attach the Wii remote to the classic controller.

I bought Kid Icarus. I haven't had much time to play it, but I've beat the first stage and read through the Operations Guide, and I'm impressed with it as an NES game. It works on a code-based "save" system, but I find the quick save option on the Wii to be less of a hassel.

Having played the game only for a short while, I can already understand why people would call it a brilliant hybrid of the platforming elements of Mario/Metroid, the action-adventure elements of Zelda/Metroid, the art design of Mario/Metroid/Zelda, the upgrades from Zelda/Metroid, etc. Amazingly, though, it still retains its own unique identity and style.

...But for all of my observations on the nuances of the game's mechanics, I was expecting a little more. Like most of you, I imagine, I had never really known of Kid Icarus/Pit until his badass appearance in the Super Smash Brawl trailer. Since then, every Nintendo fan clamored to see Kid Icarus on the Wii's VC. I guess the hype got to me. But let me assure you, it's definitely worth the 500 points.

And let me add, that Kid Icarus, if revived for the Wii and given the same treatment as Nintendo's other brilliant projects, probably will become the new Ocarina of Time for this generation.

A few Reggie comments from a Stephen Totilo article over at MTV…

On the Earthbound series - “Mother” series is important to Satoru Iwata, Nintendo’s president, who worked on the series years ago as a developer. It certainly is a franchise near and dear to his heart, and it’s something I’m trying to get smart on to understand whether or not there is an opportunity here. But certainly I’ve seen the success in Japan. That hasn’t gone unnoticed. And it’s certainly something we’re looking at.”

An innovative company can't just worry about what fans want but also anticipate what fans don't even know they want. So when the discussion turned to the Wii's 24/7 online service, Fils-Aime threw a curve. Yes, the system will continue to receive new channels and downloadable games. There are other downloadable-content ideas floating around too. "We have a tremendous amount of old Nintendo Power [magazine] content, for example, that we could present to consumers as a way to get smart about Virtual Console.

Does one know how to rid yourself of your downloaded games?

I downloaded a couple games and I no longer wish to play them. I thought deleting them from the memory would do the job but they are still on the Wii Menu with the rest of the channels and other downloaded games.

Well thats good to hear considerin gamespot gave it a 5.

Eh, but GameSpot is GameSpot. I think they also grade VC games based on different criteria. Let me fish up what other critics have to say...

Yeah, I'd agree with that. GS seems to be the harshest critic sometimes, but I'd rather agree with them than a random person from gamefaqs. I mean, I love Spider-man, so my rating of a Spidey game is probably going to be higher than any general game player, you know?

....well? :o

....well? :o

It IS possible, but I don't remember how I did it. Don't get me wrong, it's an easy process, but it's been a while. I think you have to delete it in two places: the system memory and the Wii Channels. You can access these two in bottom left-hand icon.

...Let me take a look and I'll get back to you on the correct process.

Hey guys, I haven't but ANY VC games yet and was wondering what you guys recommend I should get.

Am I the only one who has trouble connecting to the shop channel sometimes? (If it even connects):xmen:

No, I haven't ever had a problem that didn't involve a problem with the Cable company.

If the cable is working, then the shop channel works fine.

Well, my cable is fine(I am on the internet right now on the hype) and my 360 has no problem whatsoever connecting, yet my Wii can hardly do it. :(

Wow, now that Donkey Kong Country is up, I just remembered that I never played DK64. I hope they add that one soon, as it is the only DK game not to be ported yet.
BTW, has anyone here played DK64 before? If so, how was it?

I thought DK64 was a lot of fun. It would be cool if they are able to bring it to virtual console.:xmen:

It's like Banjo Kazooie and SM64. I was really good at it.

Damn. Looks like I'm eating my words when it comes to Konami bringing TMNT to the VC. I guess they do know how to cash in for an upcoming film.
