Virtual Console Update Thread

I don't think that Konami would have the rights to release the old games on the VC. I remember that the emulated arcade versions that were in the gamecube games had to have the soundtrack changed since the music rights were under the old animation company.

Konami already released Super Castlevania IV on the VC so Konami is not against the idea of releasing games out on the VC. So one is hopeful of the TMNT

So anyone dl SMW yet? Seriously people, we need reviews around here.

Yes, I did. And it's everything you'd expect, but it's best if you leave the GC controller behind and use the Classic Controller. Can you believe I never beat the game? Well, I did, but I always used shortcuts. I'm going to be playing it soon, but I'm working on other games (as you can see from my sig.)

As long as I've got my wavebird and stock GC controller, to hell with the classic controller. The two games I have (Gunstar and Mario Kart) work just fine with them.

the 64 games work better with the GC controller, the older ones work better with the classic

I find that the Classic Controller works best for everything... But I don't use it with the games that don't need it since it would drain the power from the remote.

I'd really want some classic Earthworm Jim, Banjo-Kazooie and Goldeneye for my wii.

Is there any plans on Goldeneye?

I have Mario Kart and Gunstar Heroes, but I need more :/

They are working on Goldeneye. It's up to either Acitivion or Rare. Forget about Banjo-Kazooie, Rare is with MS and the new one is on the 360.

forgive me if this has already been asked, but have they added any save functions to the older-gen virtual console games?

No. There is no new save feature. However, when you press Home, it pauses. You can however turn the Wii off and when you turn it back on and go to the game, it will be from where you left off.

Like, pause it and turn it off in game, and then go back later? (Thanks, btw)

That's really all I'm looking for. When SMB3 comes out, I can't imagine sitting there and playing the whole thing in one sitting or just leaving it on like the old days. At least it's not plugged into the cable outlet anymore.

Not really pause, more like freezing it. You have to press Home though. I don't think it works if you do the ingame pause and then turn it off.

if you just turn off your console, it saves it to that spot when you next turn it on...it doesnt matter if you hit home first or not...I closed comics zone after dying the other day, and when I re-opened it a couple days later it was still on the title screen, not the "sega" screen...so yeah :o

Damn I'm gonna have to download all three of those unfortunately as well as Link the Past eventually. Nintendo is going to break me. :(

Sadly, also my Wii Mote stopped working today. It won't do crap. :(

Have you tried new batteries?:xmen:

I just downloaded Super Mario 64. I want to get an Super Mario game, but which one? There is Super Mario Bros, Super Mario, Super Mario Word?????? Three versions, and they are all the same. I only thought that Super Mario Bros. 2 was more unique, i hope that comes out

Super Mario World was one of the best Mario games to grace any platform. I have been playing it like crazy since downloading it.:woot:

There are updates for Mario Kart 64 and Military Madness on the wii shop channel. The updates are free of charge and any game saves remain as they are, so nothing is rewritten/deleted.

I had just put new batteries in, it just stopped working. I tried resynching it. Nothing.

That happened to me also...and I had to have Nintendo replace the Wii...because it ended up being a failure in the system and not the controllers.:csad:
