the Black Panther putting SS into a supposedly unbreakable hold is bull**** on the highest level. The Surfer isn't human in the first place, so there's no reason his anatomy would be weak to the same hold as a human. He has the power cosmic, he doesn't need a free arm to blast a regular human into a pile of ash. Add that to the fact with his strength level he can go toe-to toe with the Hulk, and no hold is unbreakable when it's being enforced by a guy who can press, what? 2,000 pounds? Less? Oh yes, and the SS can move at the speed of light, so there's no reason T'Challa should have been able to get him into that hold in the first place.
Bad, stupid writing, to make the Black Panther look effective, in a situation where he would really get his ass handed to him.
Well, I DO like a lot of what happened, Black Panther having something like this prepared, the whole possibility of having a back up Silver Surfer level of power cosmic now in their hands, Galactus, the return of Gravity, the position of Protector of the Universe opened up again. There's a lot of good stuff aiming to happen in it really.
Cover art previews suggest Nova may recruit a new Corps-person around issue #4 or #5, and it appears to be a female Kree.![]()
I ACCEPT that I'm the ONLY one who liked that issue,... but it wasn't as far fetched as the mess i'm reading elsewhere in Marvel.
hmmmn,...
i wonder :
after the obligationary fight,..
the roughshod training period,
and the "nova in her own right"
is this gonna be his new lovr interest?
I'm loving this run as well.
Cannonball should stay with the X-Men. Carey's been writing him like a total badass.
People with powers already shouldn't join the Nova Corps.

And forget sexy Gamora so quickly?![]()
I had no problem with it. No character should be unbeatable.
I actually liked the way Panther beat Surfer the second time, that's the Panther I know and love not the "wrestling hold" panther.
Stark done it? FASCISM!!! HE'S A MONSTER!!!
BP does it, people like it.
I dunno dude...Rich AND Sam as Nova Corps? I'd be in like Flint.
i REALLY think he would work out,...
oh,... and heres to praying that ms kree is straight, (Fanboy bitterness that the most attractive women in comics have too many into the same sex among their ranks.)
I meant it as, "If Stark did it."![]()
I know. Marvel needs to do more with mutants than to just put them on an X-team, or let them flounder in obscurity until someone comes along and wants to put them on an X-team.
Sam Guthrie is perfect for the Nove Corps. Rich depserately needs people to pick up some of the repsonsibility he's shouldering right now, and I think Sam could be the right man for the job.
Plus, he works best when he's adjusting to new environments. Anyone remember his insecurity issues when he first made the leap to "official" X-Man years ago? Good stuff.
And then Sam beat Gladiator.![]()
I agree it is a problem when mutants seem to do little outside the X-books these days, not giving the impression of inclusiveness but evolving beyond the stereotype. But of course M-Day threw a monkey wrench into that by limiting mutant characters. Hell, back in the 90's, Marvel was falling over themselves getting mutants into everything. It simply is a shame that sometimes, with a lot of policies & franchises, Marvel can't find a sane middle-ground between two extreme positions.
But, Marvel's had a few good launches and relaunches the last 1-2 years, so there is always hope.
Like I said, if the guy already has powers, then he should be given more powers. Rick Jones should be asked. Maybe if Happy Hogan wasn't dead, he would have been a good candidate. The Nova corps shouldn't be like the GLs, where theres like three or four from the same planet. Spread it out. Or make up some new guys.
Or super evolved human powers. Or like that time he became the Hulk. Rick's had plenty of powers, and he's got expierence. He would make a better Nova then anybody else on the planet.
