Would the movie have done so well if it had Vulture and none of the Venom hype what do you lot think?

Box office wise? Not sure, probably not
Story wise? I like to believe that overall it would have been a much much better movie.

I think Vulture would have been nice, because it owuld've been sticking to the classic villains from the early Spidey comics (as Sam Raimi has intended for his films). I still want to see Electro. Plus it would've been great to have the REAL GG2.

I don't know. I still think that in the long run he and Sandman were either unnecessary or should've had a different storyline (in Sandy's case). All we know is that he was jailed after being busted for some corporate scandal.

According to the dvd commentary, Sam says they had Ben Kingsley interested in playing Toomes...

On what planet do you pass on Ben Kingsley....for Topher Grace?

I think it might have worked out better for the film considering the fact that Raimi had his own way of making these movies and Venom(as awesome as he is)didn't fit into what he was creating. When a character is forced into a movie,no matter how great he is,it will disrupt the movie and mess things up.
However, box office wise I think it would've hurt. The Vulture is wayyyyyyyy down on my list of baddies I'd like to see,and Venom is the top. That goes for most fans too,I would think.

I think Arad was right to tell Rami to not be selfish & just include Rami's favorite villans like Vulture, but to consider the fan's favorites too, like Venom. OTOH, if you're going to include Venom, then give the fans what they want, i.e. more Venom screen time. Hopefully, the SM3.1 will explain some of those plot holes regarding Venom's knowledge about Peter, MJ, & SAndman's family.

Well said my freind. Ramis problem is he does not make the movies for us he makes them for himself

For the longest time I did blame Arad for Spider-man 3. However,Raimi's a big boy and I don't think Arad "forced" him into putting Venom in. I mean, what would he say? "Um,look Sam,you've done a great job with these films so far but you either put Venom in part 3 or your fired!" C'mon. lol
But,now that I look at it,as great a job as Raimi has done,it was kinda selfish of him to make these films just for him,so to speak. You make these films for the fans and the majority of fans love Venom and wanted to see not only him,but black suit Spider-man as well. I think Sam and his staff had enough time to polish the script but I guessing he didn't want to take Sandman out(already replacing Vulture)and as a result not only did Venom's screentime and character suffer, but I kinda think Marko's did as well.
I've said this before, but I liked Spider-man 3. I do however, see all the flaws and I didn't like the lack of screentime for Venom/Brock and Symbiote Spidey. But when I look at it all now,I think everyone was to blame, not just Arad.

I think that if Raimi had full control over S-M 3, we would've gotten a much more critically acclaimed movie.

You'd be surprised....

No
One of the best things the Directors should do is not listen to the fans on how to make the movies, especially the rapid Venom fanboys. And I remember getting excited after reading in mags about Ben Kingsly possibly being in negotiations for a role in the movie (i think it was an article in Entertainment Weekly). As a Venom fan myself, I didn't even want Venom or the symbiote, not for a long time.

I personally think SM3 would have turned out better with Vulture since he wasn't forced in there by the studio. Sam wanted him in there. Instead, he was forced to use a character he didn't want or like.

Fanboys were complaining they wanted Venom so they forced Venom in there; and look what majority of them say now.
