My personal contribution to making the world a better place is my vow to never procreate. Having children in this day and age is kind of like buying a dog when there are so many in the shelter that need homes.

waiting for it to change wont do anything. you have to do your share to help change it. and for everyone who says the world wont get any better, its that complacent attitude that allows things to get worse. if you dont like what you see, then do something about it, and encourage others to do the same.

Heh, heh, the first thing I thought about when I read the opening thread post was a charity single by some recording artist.

I am just wondering when this world will become a better place. I mean I am about to bring a child into this world but everyday you turn on the TV or pick up your newspaper and you read about school shootings or rapes, women cutting babies out of other womens belly, war and etc. I just sometimes wish this wasn't the world I will have to bring my child into because I believe we as people have the power to shape this world into something better but yet people use it in the wrong way.

I don't know what's worse: the fact that the things mentioned above actually happen, or the fact that we all seem to view it as just another "daily occurrence" because we're bombarded with it through various media outlets. Yeah, it's appalling, but I don't see people (as a general whole) changing that type of behavior anytime soon.

Having said that, I really sympathize with what you're saying and I hope all turns out well for you and yours.
