The first time, you walk into a massive comic shop, you feel like heaven has already come to you. It feels like the biggest orgasm ever. Looking at all them figurines, models, comics, graphic novels and anime dvds makes you wanna cream.

What's your best comic shop experience?

The first time I ever went to one. I went straight for the transformers case. Good times I pretty much grew up with that store. Back when it was a hole in the one to the time we got to the toy r us shoping center. Ahh time sure does fly by doesn't it.

I now know what every comic book geek feels like when he walks into a comic shop.

I've never been in a comic shop. Don't have one sadly where I live.

I went to "Forbidden Planet" in Tottenham Court road, London.

It was amazing.

I wouldn't say this was the best, but this was good. When I was in Vienna on my travels, I found a great comic book store. It reminded me of the main comic book store in Belfast, the way that store USED to be before they sold out and became part of a big chain.

This store in Vienna had many, many books. And they had posters, paintings in frames, figures, busts, all that cool junk. But the important thing is they had books! There were comic books I hadn't heard of before, and favourites (like Daniel Clowes and Stray Bullets) that my store just doesn't sell anymore. And they had french books, german books, all sorts. I was marvelling at the art on display.

And not 5 minutes after leaving that store, we came upon a ****ing comic book art gallery!! That was awesome! Displaying work of German and Austrian writers and artists.

Everytime I walk into one I think "so many comics to read, so little time", its the choosing thats the hardest.

Not my first time but best time was a book broker near here (well 30 miles away). Comic Quest is all right, but that had a much better atmosphere. I walked in and there were ppl playing Magic in the corner talking comics, which was new to me lol. There were new games on the shelves, various movies and animes for rent, heck even the above mentioned transformers series was there. Also comic figure toys overhead, a second floor full of comics, books in the back, autographed baseballs and cards on the shelf.

I walked over to the comic stand and picked up a ton of comics, rented a few movies and animes while me and my anime junkie friend set up a few VCR's and recorded them lol, and read the comics I got. It was the geekiest I've ever felt, yet comforatable at the same time. To see ppl face to face arguing Hulk Vs. Superman was def different for me.

Edit - This was right after high school and I had $150 to burn, but didn't want to blow it all there. Once in there tho my cash was gone before I knew it. I still can't go in there without spending a ton.

I always find it hard to buy anything in a comic store. I'm the most up to date on comics at the moment and even though I mainly collect Spiderman when I can, it's what I can find on my budget, and then sometimes I think I've bought the wrong ones and such.

GAH! :cmad:

Gots me 6 mini spiderman graphic novels that are from the Romita Sr. era. :)

Also gots me a Naruto DVD. :woot:

::GEEK::

One in our area Another world was great till forbidden planet brought them out

Midtown comics has got to be the best comic shop around.

I don't think I've ever had a good experience. They always look at me like what the fck is she doing in here. It's like I'm entering their sacred no girls allowed territory. :down I bought a Spider-Man poster when I was way younger and the guy was like is this for you? :cmad: I perfer to just buy my stuff on line.

If I ever walk into a comic shop... I bet that's how I'll feel. :csad:

FP is great. went there last week. :o

:woot:

I shop at FP too. It makes me sad though 'cause there's hardly ever anyone in the comics section. it's all little kids buying those STUPID card games. People complain about the cost of comics but it's more for 6 random pieces of cardboard than it is for 1-2 comics. Damn stupid kids don't know quality when they see it :cmad:

On the plus side though i get treated like royalty 'cause my pull list is like 50-55 titles per month. :woot:

I get that too. They treat me like I don't know ****.

I went to get an Ultimate X-Men issue several, several Wednesdays ago and they were like "oh, we're sold out. we'll have more in tomorrow." And I said, "Already?!" and the guy replied, "hey it's a popular book."

It was 12 noon on Wednesday. It was the second issue in an arc, and Ultimate X-Men is NOT that popular. I was like, why don't you just tell the truth and say don't have them in yet?

ETA: this isn't some little corner store shop. it's BIG. and they've never been out of anything else.

I didn't buy any ACTUAL comics yesterday, just some TPB (well my gf bought it for me.) and a Naruto dvd. as I've stated. :)

But I'll normally spend about £20 when I do go to the local comic shop. which has been about once every 2-3 months now. :(

if you guys like GREAT comic shops check out Mega City Comics. It's an indie store in London and it's more "traditional comic shop" than FP

Awesome selection and the staff actually know what they're talking about. It's like walking into Bilbo Bagshot's shop... only real :)

I get that feeling when I walk into a pre-school..

Well, as long as we are on the subject... I have a friend who will be going to London next week and I really want her to pick up some stuff for me.

Where can I find a Borg cube and a Deadpool action figure/statue? :)
