Do you think the Spider-Man movies have done it justice?

There's one scene in TASM during the final fight that really nicely showed his abilitys to crawl. Also during the highschool fight.

Raimi's movies didn't really show it, except maybe in the first one. It was awfully animated though :)

I like how it was faster and more spider-like, especially in this scene:

Now that's what I'm talking about :D

Two good examples but in both scenes the way the camera is set it's hard to appreciate the wallcrawling because the first scene the camera is too close and in the second image the camera angle makes the side of the building look like the floor.

I really like the Spider-Man tv movie where he is fighting ninjas and he (Spider-Man) would literally just jump on the wall kick someone and then jump back down on the floor ago. The whole thing made think how the **** did they do that?!

In the movies they position the camare so Spider-Man looks like what it is i.e. someone crawling on the floor and then the camera is tilted so the floor looks like a wall. I want them to be more creative.

Inception does a fantastic job with the corridor fight.
For ASM the best scene for wallcrawling is when he jumps on the ceiling of the tube. Now 'that' was well done.

They haven't really used it too much I feel. It's never been key. You've got your web slinging more. I thought the scene where he went after the thugs and they chased him, he gets away by climbing up the wall was decent.

I'd like it if his web shooters break or he's out of web and has to use the wall to take someone down. It could be like the wall kick thing you mentioned. Would be interesting possibly...

It would be really difficult to do but Spidey shouldn't fight people in a conventional manner, the guy can stick to any surface so he should do that more.

Webb's showed it better than Raimi but imo there is still lot of potential in there to do better
I believe there was no better opportunity than TASM,you dont get a villian everyday who can wall crawl aswell

I'd like to see an upside down battle, but where it's not upside down optically to the audience. Imagine a battle with Spidey and Venom in the Bugle. All the reporters desks with it's various items like desk lights or computers just hanging from the ceiling as they progress through the office during battle. A glass of water on the desk perfectly still above their heads (insert gag here). People scrambling out of the office who look like they are the ones running across the ceiling, etc. And the lighting effect could be cool (particularily at night) as they are lit from the inverted perpective (from the ground up-ceiling down).

What do you mean by 'tube?'

Here's a scene that shows some good wall crawling moments. Sorry about the low quality.

0:55 - Peter crawls upside down on the fire escape

1:01 - Pete jumps to the wall, clings to it, pauses and then crawls up.

1:11 - (my favorite part of this clip) He jumps to the wall, stays in a Spidey-like pose and punches one of the thugs in the face.

I love this moment! :)

Every time I'm like: Did he really do this or is my mind playing tricks on me? :D

Well with that, they actually built the corridor on a rig that could rotate the corridor as well as the actors.

Yeah. That was really well done. The BTS showed that was done with some very good wire work. He was actually on the roof.

Overall, I'd say that the wallcrawling in ASM was vastly superior to that in SM1-3.

Okay, found it :yay:

Now THIS is what I'm talking about.
If you want wallcrawling to be impressive make a wall look like a wall and not like a floor. I.e. use mundane camera angles to show extra ordinary abilities.

Ok. That's what I was thinking but I wanted to make sure.

Glad you agree! I love how they made the movement look so fluid and natural as though it required him little effort to pull off.

Agreed.

What I loved the most about this movie is how they did so much of this practically and make it look great.

So no comments about the 1977 video I posted?

I agree. Like the majority of the effects/CGI/stunts when comparing SM 2002 with ASM 2012, they are about ten years better.

The wall crawling was definitely done justice in ASM. The alley way stunts, the school hallway, and the crawl up Oscorp tower were all exactly how I imagined they should be.

I agree, while it was rudimentary, its a great idea/concept for them to work on in future installments. It's kind of what they were talking about a few posts earlier with the alleyway scene. Where he punches the thug in the face.

This is one of those things that make me wonder/worry... In ten years are these effects/stunts gonna look dated too?

Can Spider-Man's abilities be made much more realistic than ASM? Food for thought.

I think they nailed the swinging in ASM but I think the wallcrawling can be more imaginative and realistic. When you have realistic effects they don't date as they are 'real'. The effects in some of the scenes in the 1977 tv series still hold up.
