WandaVision WandaVision General Discussion Thread

Major warning for everyone!
On Twitter there seems to be various major plot spoilers (actual pictures and videos about the upcoming episodes), which are not in the actual sneak peak or other promo material. I didnt saw them but I saw four accounty in my timeline complaining about they saw it accidently and warning the others. I didnt research it because I want to enjoy the show the way its intended, so I cant say much more. I just want to warn you guys too. :yay: :yay:
Thanks for the warning. I really don't want to ruin any surprise.

Edit: goddamn it I saw it. It's no joke, it will pop up in your timeline. Be careful.

Yeah don't go to MCU Spoiler Reddit at the moment if you want to be surprised. There's several threads in there about the leaks.

Yeah I just saw the leak, it's HUGE. Marvel must be pissed right now.

I’m seriously loving this show! This is probably one of the best MCU related projects ever and definitely one of my favorites.

after episode 3, I felt very inspired to draw Wanda.

camt wait to see what comes next!

With the way that Wanda's powers have worked throughout her tenure in the MCU, I feel like it would have been more appropriate if her powers had come from the reality stone instead.

Can't say I agree about the look. Don't like the mask on Monica. The jacket on the other hand is awesome. She's had it almost consistently for 15 years now and I love that look. Hope to see that.

I prefer the name Spectrum personally, but I can see why Photon might be more fitting in the MCU given Maria's callsign.

I posted in the wrong thread and moved it to this one instead: Teyonah Paris is Monica Rambeau

Its been said that the Mind stone gave her some abilities like putting nightmares into the Avengers heads manipulating them, but her core reality wrapping powers she was actually born with.
That's why Marvel is treating her as officially the MCU's first Mutant. And as we all know, Mutants are born with their powers, so Kevin Feige slipped us a freebie there.

Let's be honest, a lot of comic book stories are made to create artificial "drama" in order to drive up interest amongst readers in incredibly superficial ways. DECADES of character history can freely be ignored. I'm STILL salty about what Marvel Comics did to Wanda, Quicksilver and Vision over the years. They're practically now irrelevant in the comics, because writers and editors at Marvel "hate" them. Marvel Studios are FINALLY fixing the errors of the comics division, and people now want to bring those mistakes to the movies/shows?! I'm NOT okay with Wanda being retconned into being Magneto's daughter. I'm NOT okay with Vision's origins being changed into making him a duplicate of Wonder Man. Just to make their origins "comic book accurate." Both their origin stories are fine the way they are. Bring on the nerd rage I say.

I will say that I do not like all adaptations made by the movies. I think it was a grave error to turn Superman and Batman into murderers and have them commit crimes against humanity in their films. And that was done to make them "edgelordy" for no good reason. And the general public rightly rejected those characterizations.

I largely agree with you on all the major points. The main things I'd add are:

1. Its not just to create artificial drama, but specifically to stoke drama in a shrinking and increasingly inbred reader base. Part of the problem is that the publishers are *still* largely building their business model around extracting larger and larger revenue out of a smaller and smaller price insensitive fanbase, because who cares if you drive away borderline readers and make new reader entry even less appealing, if you can convince Mr Comic Book Guy to buy another 20 comic crossover at full price? Which works fine, from a ruthless business perspective, until your customers finally vanish entirely, from dying of old age if nothing else.

2. Sometimes stupid retcon storylines can have good uses later on. Like, the various Vision origin retcons are pretty stupid and unnecessarily convoluted. However, his awkward relationship with Wonder Man later on was the center of some good stories, like under Busiek. This is why when making movie adaptations, directors and screenwriters should focus on hitting the heart of the character concept while stripping away the cruft. . . but also look for different and better ways to incorporate the good elements that later resulted from that cruft.

3. I have mixed feelings about Wanda, Pietro, and Magneto. On one hand, the actual personal relationships between the Maximoffs and Magneto in later years were typically fine and interesting, in a "dysfunctional family" sense. On the other hand, being related to Magneto inevitably draws them closer to the X-Men story milieu, which has almost universally been bad. Granted, "this mutant character is much better on average when they appear in Avengers comics" is hardly unique to them. . .

It was already too late though I think, they messed up the stone in Thor 2 and then re did it when they made Infinity Wars. Her powers really should have been Reality stone or powered by it.

Pretty good episode, basically answered any questions from the previous episodes if you didn't know about Sword. Seems like a version for House of M, Wanda probably dealing with everything after the fight.

I believe we'll see Monica have her powers by the finale of this show, but we won't see her final form as a superhero until Captain Marvel 2.

When they finally get around to casting for the "Julie Bowen: A Modern Life" Lifetime movie or miniseries, Lizzy has got to be their top choice.

What's special about Julie Bowen? Isn't she just an actress who isn't particularly well known but has been in series like Ed, Lost or Modern Family?

I really wasn’t too sure about this show when I watched previews and learned a bit more about it, but four episodes in, and it’s one of the most narratively creative things in the whole of the MCU. I really hope that they’re going to embrace this kind of storytelling across the whole of phase four. I think I’m completely over standard superhero stuff these days, but if this kind of thing is the shape of things to come, I’ll be extremely happy.

What's the likelihood, in addition to SWORD (and possibly SHIELD), we could see the following organisations in this series:

A.R.M.O.R. (Altered-Reality Monitoring and Operational Response Agency) - sister agency to S.H.I.E.L.D. that monitors alternate reality incursions into Earth 616. This would seem like a natural fit for the multiverse and WandaVision. And it could even have a connection to Armor Wars.

W.A.N.D. (Wizardry, Alchemy and Necromancy Department) - a division of S.H.I.E.L.D that specializes in matters relating to magic. Again a natural fit for this series given that all these things seem to be going on, and could be a play on Wanda especially if they called it Wizard, Alchemy, Necromancy Department Agency or changed the D to Divination if Department Agency sounds redundant.

I don't think I'm gonna be back here until everything is over. There's too much talk about stuff that might give some things away.

So I opened up YouTube and was met with a spoiler thumbnail from one of the leaks, beware of going anywhere with money-grubbing click-hopefuls' casual disregard for others.

If you've watched something similar it will recommend to you related content. So click "not interested" and remove any content you don't want to see. And don't watch anything related to Marvel or WandaVision. Then it hopefully won't appear on your feed.

After all, if you don't watch anything on landscape gardening then it will never appear on your recommendations.

Very possible, glad the shows on D+ seem to be leading possible movie stories. I stopped Agents of Shield and most of the Netlfix shows because they just seemed affiliated but never truly connected.

The teaser for the next episode shows:

Monica being scanned by a machine. Sure, its likely routine due to her fall from Westview, but the machine could also detect some anomalies in her DNA and cell structure. We'll see what happens.
