WandaVision WandaVision General Discussion Thread

Xmen Quicksilver was great. If he shows up it probably won't be a case of Wanda confusing him for her brother. It will be her trying to figure out who this guy is that is claiming to be quicksilver.

Itd be cool if they could get RDJ's Tony Stark and Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker in a scene together.

Pretty bold statement

It’s going to be extremely tough to surpass Luke’s appearance on The Mandalorian

Expectations are high

I am prepared for a huge disappointment cameo-wise. Aaron Taylor-Johnson, maybe Benedict Cumberbatch at his best. This would be very cool, to be honest. But definetly no compare for the hardcore Star Wars fans seeing young Luke again.

I barely care about Star Wars, sawing the original movies 10 years ago and even I was hyped seeing him.

Click bait. "Yes" isn't saying that there's something on the shock level as Luke Skywalker.

When asked if WandaVision has anything similar in store — namely a casting that she can’t believe hasn’t leaked yet — Olsen gave us a quick, “Yes.” And though she dared not offer any specifics, she did share with a laugh that “I’m really excited” for viewers to see what (or who) is coming.

Will WandaVision Have Its Own 'Luke Skywalker' Moment? Elizabeth Olsen 'Really Excited' for Surprise to Come

And for the record, there's nobody from the Marvel movies that has 30 years of pent up excitement as seeing that character in his prime return. It certainly ain't Aaron Taylor-Johnson lol

I would imagine either its Thanos for Wanda or Carol for Monica. Stark doesn't really fit with this story. I could see Magneto as well I guess.

For that Luke Skywalker level cameo, there’s only 2 off the top of my head that can possibly garner the same type of awe & excitement

1 - Magneto: Mutants finally introduced into the MCU and who better than someone that has a connection to Wanda?

2 - Tobey Maguire or Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man: Seeing as how this series is suppose to tie in to the upcoming Doctor Strange film and the multiverse, bringing back a previous Spidey will definitely excite many people

i think ultron would be a good guess if not for bettany saying he always wanted to work with that individual. he was mentioned already and would make sense in the context of the show but bettany and spader worked together in AOU.

I largely agree with you on all the major points. The main things I'd add are:

1. Its not just to create artificial drama, but specifically to stoke drama in a shrinking and increasingly inbred reader base. Part of the problem is that the publishers are *still* largely building their business model around extracting larger and larger revenue out of a smaller and smaller price insensitive fanbase, because who cares if you drive away borderline readers and make new reader entry even less appealing, if you can convince Mr Comic Book Guy to buy another 20 comic crossover at full price? Which works fine, from a ruthless business perspective, until your customers finally vanish entirely, from dying of old age if nothing else.

2. Sometimes stupid retcon storylines can have good uses later on. Like, the various Vision origin retcons are pretty stupid and unnecessarily convoluted. However, his awkward relationship with Wonder Man later on was the center of some good stories, like under Busiek. This is why when making movie adaptations, directors and screenwriters should focus on hitting the heart of the character concept while stripping away the cruft. . . but also look for different and better ways to incorporate the good elements that later resulted from that cruft.

3. I have mixed feelings about Wanda, Pietro, and Magneto. On one hand, the actual personal relationships between the Maximoffs and Magneto in later years were typically fine and interesting, in a "dysfunctional family" sense. On the other hand, being related to Magneto inevitably draws them closer to the X-Men story milieu, which has almost universally been bad. Granted, "this mutant character is much better on average when they appear in Avengers comics" is hardly unique to them. . .

Wow, your points about the contrived and fake drama totally make sense. I agree with them wholeheartedly. It's not particularly a sound long term business strategy. But I kinda get why comic book publishers do it. They wanna stay relevant to their older readers. The movies and shows don't have the same excuse. I actually don't mind the Wonder Man and Vision stuff from the 90s at all. I just HATE exposition about RELATIONSHIPS on screen. I get it if you want to explain and describe stuff that's essential for worldbuilding. But if they bring Simon (who is a pretty funny guy) in this late into the game, they'll probably have to describe his relationships with Hank and Tony (and both of those dudes never mentioned him ONCE for years). It will feel weird and forced to me. But retcons are like that. And I don't want to see that kind of convolution in the MCU. I wouldn't mind Pietro, Wanda and Magneto being a family if the relationship wasn't so one-sided in favor of Mags. I think the whole Avengers Disassembled and House of M stuff DESTROYED Wanda, Pietro and Vision as characters, while Magneto and Doctor Doom (who were the alleged "villains" in those stories and who I both like) came off looking just fine. That just never sat well with me.

The answer is obvious:

Vision will scream "Daddy!!!!" and Professor Hulk will appear. Wanda will be delighted to see her daddy in law. Hulk bonds with his grandkids.

:o

I loved the cheesy 80s opening in this episode had me laughing on some of the shots in it.
An when the lead military guy mentioned "No cheesy nickname" Still think they may call her a Witch at some point maybe not Scarlet Witch.

I think Monica didn't want to talk about Captain Marvel because she felt abandoned. Carol never came back to visit and when Marie was ill she probably needed her the most.

Another great episode and now its starting to feel like this show is really ramping up and we are going to be getting some Mandalorian: Season 2 level reveals pretty soon.

This episode was just a tease IMO, but man they really can do almost anything now and my mind is running wild with all the crazy possibilites they can come up with.

That is impossible, since Tony Stark is dead in the MCU

Ok so my theory right now is that at the end of this show Wanda f***s it up so so big that she rips a hole in the fabric of the MCU reality basically introducing the multiverse and having ripple effects through upcoming movies such as Homecoming 3 (a possible explanation of Electro and Octopus coming back) and Multiverse of Madness (Wanda is here too).

But wouldn't they be able to do Electro and Doc Ock because they have not appeared in this movie. They may not want to repeat characters but it is still a different Spider-Man and reality. I can see her hex creating that rift since she was mentioning not everything is in her control. I don't think she expected to have Pietro back.

I thought the interesting part of the real world stuff from this episode was

Monica being examined and her initial body scan was blank and they wanted to run some more tests but she refused. Something is up there.
