I was perusing the boards and was shocked to see we don't have a thread for the guy that has been the glue for the MCU for Avengers 2 yet! What do you guys think Nick Fury's role will be in AoU, and what do you want to see from Laurence Fish - uh, I mean, Samuel L. Jackson after his appearance in Captain America: The Winter Soldier?

SLJ has said he doesn't really figure into much of the plot. With him going to Europe at the end of TWS and early set photos of Hawkeye in Europe with the Twins, I think Hawkeye is helping Fury out with plans from the end of TWS.

Yeah, I expect Nick to pop in and out now that he's gone back into the shadow world. He'll be there just not a huge presence. I'm sure him, Widow, and Hawkeye will be banded together too to start things fresh.

I wouldn't be shocked if he drops the word that leads the Avengers to Wanda and Pietro. Sussing out deep dark Hydra secrets is what Fury's probably doing, after all.

I just want a scene where he goes to a secret HYDRA lair and bursts in with the line "say HYDRA again, I dare ya, I double dare ya" :funny:

I love Samuel l Jackson. He's the best nick fury any of us can ever hope for. His unique relationship with each avenger is what helps make marvel the success that it is

I think that he'll probably pop up to give the Avengers some kind of information/exposition. Maybe it's info about the twins, or maybe it's info about Ultron. If the flashback scene turns out to be a "Jim Hammond was a prototype for Ultron" type of deal, then Fury could have valuable intel on that (since he knew Howard Stark personally).

Kinda sucks we won't see much of Fury in this one. He's pretty much the
Fifth Beatle of The Avengers.

Would love to see more Fury. I'm still hoping for a Nick Fury movie at some point. It would be great to see how Fury came about in the MCU and how he got to know Howard Stark and co.

It also sucks that of all the characters who's role they could reduce, they choose one of the most prominent black characters. Still, if they really can't fit him in, then I can accept his absence.

But they're replacing him with Rhodey so... there's that...

Whose roles could they reduce? Coulson is either not gonna be in it, or will have a cameo, Hill will most likely have a smaller role. The Other isn't gonna be in it, nor will the WSC, the only other roles from the first film are that of the Avengers.

They need more super people, less SHIELD agents making snarky comments this time. It worked in the first movie but it wouldnt anymore after TWS of course

Played by Michael B. Jordan.

It's a shame his role will be smaller because he's just come off his best work as Nick Fury in TWS. For the first time he felt like a fully fleshed out character and not just the resident cooler than cool bad ass. But with what happened in TWS and the nature of the main threat in this Avengers it's understandable.

The fact is Nick Fury isnt really part of the game anymore. Once SHIELD folded he became unemployed/demoted. He will still help The Avengers I'm sure but hes not in a position to do much now except act as a spy for the gang.

The BEST character development ever for him in that one film. He's back in the shadow world so it's a bit understandable for AOU, but I think Russo's might bring him back in Cap 3 too and use him more there.
