It's official - I just read that the MPAA gave "Wanted" an R rating for "strong bloody violence throughout, pervasive language and some sexuality". The only problem I have with that statement? The word "some". :woot: Here's the link where I saw the info:

It's not as complimentary as I'd hoped for, but then, they haven't seen the movie yet either. I know, I know, it's not a big deal - but at least its proof that the studio isn't gonna neuter this thing at the last minute to try and go the crappy PG-13 route (a la movies like the first "AVP", where the material dictates that it OBVIOUSLY should be an "R" film). At least this is a step in the right direction!

^Don't worry man,the MPAA always uses the word some when it comes to action, even if there is a big amount of action in the movie they gave the MPAA rating to. :o

awesome...

been a while since a good hard R action movie was around

Heh - I was referring to the OTHER use of the word "some", as in "SOME sexuality". Fox is a sex fiend in the "Wanted" graphic novel, and Angelina Jolie is crazy hot, so... :cwink:

Still, I'll take what I can get!

Yesss,it's about time to see Jolie go in nude mode in a movie again. She is pretty hot IMO,and I don't think she looks too skinny,if she was her forearm would be as thin as her biceps. Some people think she looks too skinny and I totally disagree with them.

Yeah man,the last good hard R action movie I saw was Rambo!
We need more of that stuff. :o I was hoping before Wanted wouldn't be PG-13.

The violence in "Rambo" was CRAZY - that's the kind of thing I'm hoping to see in "Wanted"! I wasn't too worried about them doing something stupid like trying to tone down the violence for a PG-13 rating - I think Mark Millar would have had an epic raging fit for the press if they did - but still, it's nice to have the official word! :yay:

no im talking more stylized type action more in the realm of sci fi...

i hope its not R just becaue jolie shows some cleavage... i wanna see hard violence:woot:

^Well one reason for the rated R rating for Wanted is for strong bloody violence through out,if you look at the picture for it on the Wanted website you will see it that it says that. :o
Strong bloody sci fi violence for the win,er fantasy IMO.

No worries there - go check out the Russian trailers. They show more than the American trailers do, and there's more violence in them - like there's a shot of Wesley cracking a guy across the face with a computer keyboard, and you see blood, teeth, and keys go flying (and the keys spell out "***** YOU", which was a nice comic-bookish touch ).

Considering the source material and the MPAA notes about "strong bloody violence", yeah, I'd say this film will be VERY violent.

Holy crap, just looked up the Russian trailers and you're absolutely right!

WHY in the world isn't that violent, dramatic, and intense tone found in the U.S. trailers?? It makes the movie look so much more interesting.

I dunno. I mean, I understand why Russia got some cool trailers - Timur Bekmambetov is like the Russian version of Joss Whedon over there; his fans are RABID ever since he directed the "Night Watch" series. But why not here? I guess the studio is afraid of how the more timid American audiences would accept something like that - they can take violence, but they tend to have a problem with anti-heroes and "bucking the establishment", which is what "Wanted" is all about. I like to think of it as the "Fight Club" effect - that movie tanked at the box office. It didn't really get a rabid following until it came out on DVD, and I think that's because of the trailers - they weren't afraid to give that "anti-establishment" vibe in the trailers, and the U.S. audiences didn't quite know what to make of it. If you make 'em think it's just another dumb action film, though - you can get more butts in the seats; if the "Fight Club" trailers had shown nothing but Ed Norton and Brad Pitt beating the crap out of people, it probably would have sold more tickets.

Plus there's the fact that there's no way the FCC would EVER let them show a trailer remotely resembling those Russian ones on primetime television - I'm sure that went into the thinking too.

Hell, they can put Care Bears and gumdrops in the trailer to appease Joe Blow Average American for all I care - as long as the movie still has that cool, violent, high-energy vibe, I'll still see it! :woot:

Just saw the Russian trailer nd this movie looks frickin sick.

What I'm wondering is, did they keep the ending, and by ending I mean the last page of the comic.

Well, I don't think she's too skinny, but I do think that she's very thin. A lot skinnier than she was in Mr and Mrs Smith...She barely has curves anymore.

she's just lost alot of her muscles since tomb raider....

she's still gorgeous and badass though...
